I discovered this heavenly hideaway 25 years ago. It was raw land when I bought it, and I built everything here with my own labor including my CaBarn which I share with my dogs, horses and other critters.

Private Campsite - Hidden Gem!
This was our second stay at Lestia's campsite. It has become one of our favorite places to camp in Idaho, as it's near so many great hiking trails. We love soaking in the beautiful views from every direction. The river behind the property is an added bonus, providing fun for our dogs and my fisherman husband. We always enjoy our chats with Lestia; she has led a very interesting life. We both admire her independent spirit and the evident love she has for her home in the mountains. Lestia, we hope to see you, Wilma, and Fred again next summer! Thanks for another fantastic stay!

Beautiful land camping spot
Lestia is a lovely host. Her lot is secluded, and the camp site is at the back of her property. The river is right behind but be prepared to walk through some marshy land to get there (fyi no sandy area easily accessible). One of the host dogs played with ours which was great. Having hook ups was really nice. There are some hikes within driving distance but not too many in walking distance- we liked Burnt Aspen trail and the water fall hike. The surrounding scenery is beautiful. Bring bug spray and maybe some citronella candles! Overall one of our favorite camping experiences.

Beautiful scenery. Quiet and off the beaten path for sure. Lestia’s horses are beautiful and I loved watching them gallop around. The drive to Sun Valley is spectacular, but not suitable for towing anything.

Fantastic host, incredible property
Magical is the only way I can describe Lestia’s property. Between the friendly horses and dogs, the spectacular view of devil’s bedstead peak, and the incredible fly fishing right in her backyard, all I can say is wow. Lestia herself is such a badass — take the time to talk to her and listen to her stories, you won’t be disappointed. I feel lucky to have met her and I’m grateful she has opened up her property for others to enjoy as well.

Lestia’s location and hospitality can’t be beat. The spot was level, hookup was convenient, and there was great privacy as well. Lestia is on of those people you just love to meet, and I’m so thankful we got to see those views in person! Fred, Wilma, Zip, and Zander we’re just icing on the cake. Worth. Every. Penny. *there were quite a few mosquitos, I’d recommend coming prepared with repellant!

Secluded camp site
Very private with amazing views in all directions. We could hear the nearby Northfork of the Big Lost River flowing by. A deer passed through camp which had beautiful wild flowers around the campsite. Lestia, the North Fork Mayor, is a very gracious and friendly host. She had very helpful area information and directions for hiking, backroad drives and fishing. She recommended driving to her place from Mackay as we were pulling a twenty foot trailer. We made a day trip to Sun Valley and Ketchum on the Trail Creek road, about a 45 minute drive.

Unbelievable and moving.
Thanks to Lestia's warm welcome, affiches and suggestions, we discovered a little paradise. The landscapes and sceneries are spectacular and the hiking trails countless. Lestia's dogs and horses are very affectionate. The view from spot was incredibly inspiring and calming. We were able to have access to the wifi which allowed us a lot of flexibility to plan our escapades during our stay. If you want to visit Ketchum and Sun Valley, the towns are 1 hour away by a very steep road, however. As there are no toilets and where to put the garbage in the area, make sure to plan everything. We will be back for sure next year. Thank you Lestia for the great conversation. We wish you good health.

Lestia’s spot is absolutely breathtaking!! We absolutely loved our stay and wish we had had even more time to explore the area. Lestia is such a kind lady, and we had some great conversations with her. Her dogs are the sweetest things ever, and so is her horse! The only thing I would suggest for your stay is to make sure to have a good water purifier. The well water has a very strong and distinct metallic smell and taste. Not a big deal at all, but just something to be aware of. Definitely check out this peaceful, quiet, remote spot within driving distance to Sun Valley/Ketchum, Craters of the Moon, and the beautiful Salmon-Challis National Forest.

Lestia was wonderful host! So friendly and kind! If you are looking for a high mountain get away with water and power hookups, and an awe inspiring view, then this is the place. She has one spot near her cabin and a more private spot by the river. We enjoyed watching one of her dogs herding the horse as “Fred” sat with us preferring to lap up the love.

A beautiful spot
A beautiful quite spot nesteled in within the national forest. The calm stream from the backside of the property provided soothing sounds. Total privacy provided for the camping location on the property. Lestia was a wondeful host that taught us interesting facts about the property. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for seclution and an opportunity to connect with the nature than what most group campsites can provide.

Private and quiet!
This was a sweet camping spot, hosted by Lestia, who was super nice! There is an electric hookup and water, which was very convenient. It is rare to find a campsite with hookups that is so PRIVATE! We had the place to ourselves, with only occasional visits from Fred and Wilma, the canine greeters. It was really nice not to have to secure everything when we went exploring for the day. Ketchum is an easy day trip, and we really enjoyed driving down Forest Service Road 135. We came in from Mackey, which was a good road pulling our 20 foot trailer.

Great stay near Mt Borah, Sawtooths
Lestia is a sweetheart. It was a great place to stay - a bit out of the way, but worth it. Look for the orange traffic cone (what she calls a pile-on).

If you’re looking for your own private Idaho, in the stunning and quiet Lost River valley, this place delivers. Rustic, charming, no frills but soul-filling. Host Lestia is the real deal… a homesteader with heart. We will be back!

Peaceful retreat
This is a lovely spot surrounded by nature and amazing views. Lestia was friendly and helpful during our 2 night stay. As promised there was electric and water available at the site. We were pulling a 32 ft trailer and were able to maneuver, but it was a tight couple of 3 point turns at the campsite. The stars were amazing and so was the creek behind the property - which is on federal land. We had fun exploring and sitting around our own propane firepit toasting marshmallows. There is a traditional fire ring and wood there, but due to fire risk we felt it best to be safe. We got there after a brief rain and the mosqitoes flared, but usually i think it is not a problem in summer. Bring some spray just in case! We saw antelope on the property and moose tracks by the river. Truely worth a visit. We also drove to Ketchem mid day our second day. the road is rough and single lane in some areas. Don't try to come in that way hauling a trailer, Better to come in from the Arco side. Ok for a truck.

Beautiful spot!
Lestia is a very gracious host and the scenery is indeed stunning. If you need a ton of amenities camping this may not be the place for you but if you are just looking for a beautiful, secluded spot this place is amazing. The view is hard to beat and the night sky is unadulterated by light pollution. The river is just a short walk from the campsite and super refreshing. There’s no service out there nor is there a store nearby so make sure to screenshot your driving directions and pack whatever you need for your stay. 10/10 would camp again!
