Campers will have gorgeous views and sunsets over the lake. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, hiking and wildlife watching abound. The campsite is off-the-beaten path so you'll be away from the crowds, yet the site is still close to other area attractions like Lake Pend Oreille (10 min. drive), charming downtown Sandpoint (15 min. drive) and Silverwood Theme Park (30 min. drive). The beauty and allure of Mirror Lake led to it being featured in two Hollywood movies -- Dante's Peak (1997) and Mel (1998). The lake itself is excellent for fishing, and stocked with Kokanee, Brook Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout. The stocking is typically scheduled for the first week of June each year, so if you are an angler, it's best to come after June 7th for the best fishing. Paying homage to the Bigfoot legend in northern Idaho, the theme of this campground is all things Sasquatch! Can you find all 9 Sasquatch hiding throughout the campground? Swimming in nearby Talache Landing (a.k.a. Talache Beach) on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille is an absolute must-do. This place is magical! The cabin is adorable and very cozy. There’s little lanterns in the trees which are a great touch at night. The water is super close and the fishing dock is wonderful to sit on while watching sunset. It was so quiet and peaceful. The restroom was super clean and near by. It’s a very well kept and beautiful location.

Beautiful site! I stayed at site A, and it's a cozy, tiny cabin, but the site itself felt like a ton of space. Clean, private, and on the lake! I saw a ton of wildlife too. And it's cheaper than most places would be for what you get. Will be going back sooner than later! Nathaniel was a great host too. My only feedback would be to include signs to the garbage disposal. I tried to find it after dark and got lost even with the map (this may be user error so take it with a grain of salt).

Headed through on a cross country road trip and found this sweet campground on the way. We rented a cabin but loved the tent sites so much that if we're passing through again, we'll take one of those. The cabin was clean, comfy and a short walk to the bathrooms. The tent sites are large, separated by nice fences and have a pavilion kitchen available that even includes a microwave. The staff was kind and helpful. I bought a couple of bundles of wood and it was delivered to our site before I walked back. The office has a small store in case you forgot some camping essentials.

We had a wonderful visit. This is our 2nd visit. The lake has alot of Lilly pads but we went out and went swimming at Lake Pend Orielle and had a great time. The lil cabin is nice to put all of our stuff in so that it doesn't clutter the tent. The burn ban was in effect but we still sat around the fire pit and listened to all the sounds. The frogs were making music. So many turkeys and deer. Such a gorgeous view. Will be back again!

Weekend Trip to Paradise on Mirror Lake

This was the first Hipcamp experience for us and it was a good one. The lake was peaceful and the little cabin so cute. I loved how easy it was to book and the communication and detail on locating the place was great. We lucked out with this tiny gem. When we arrived it was beautiful and sunny but within 20 minutes or so a storm complete with big hail came rolling in. Having the cabin for shelter was nice during the storm even though it was short lived. It was a cozy spot. The touch of having solar lanterns gave it a special touch for the evening. The extras like a cot and sleeping pads was a help. I would recommend this place. Next hopefully we can stay longer to explore more.

Weekend Trip to A Wee Place in the Woods

Flying squirrel was occupied by girls ranging in age from 14 to just shy of 18. They loved their days there. I could hear the late night laughing and joyful tones of their voices. Having the small fire pit so they could make s'more was brilliant. They loved exploring the camp and leaving their fairy houses for others to enjoy. They are planning their 18th birthday celebration there. Thank you for providing such a beautiful location to strengthen the bonds of family and friends.

Excellent site with enough room for our sprinter van to park at the cabin. Pool, showers were only a 100' from the cabin and everything on property was extremely easy to access. Staff was amazing and personable. Would highly recommend this camp whether going solo, or with family.

Beautiful spot on the lake. Loved the tent spot and being able to have our dinner right next to the lake with an incredible view. The little cabin was sweet- we appreciated a place to take cover from the bugs at night. Also- we were delighted by the bullfrogs. It is a magical place!

Where to go

Farragut State Park

With hundreds of individual campsites for RVs and tents, plus cabins and group camps, Farragut State Park in Coeur d’Alene Mountains boasts an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities. Tree to Tree is a zipline park with wild swings and treetop rope courses for adventurers ages six and up. Farragut is also home to several disc golf courses, from Little Black Bear for beginners to Cutthroat for more experienced players. After a day in the trees, park at one of the many RV campsites in Farragut that have water and electricity hookups, plus shared showers with modern restrooms.

Heyburn State Park

The oldest state park in the Pacific Northwest, Heyburn State Park features Chatcolet, Benewah, and Hidden Lakes for terrific fishing, boating, and water sports. The meandering St. Joe River is another option for kayaking or canoeing past towering Ponderosa pine trees and flower-filled meadows. Spend the night amongst the trees at cottage and cabin rentals that offer comfortable amenities like furnished kitchens, charcoal grills, and outdoor picnic tables. Or go to a lakeside tent and RV campground near children’s playgrounds and indoor shower facilities.

Coeur d'Alene National Forest

Head deep into the woods at Coeur d’Alene National Forest, part of Idaho Panhandle National Forests. Explore the lush evergreen mountains while keeping an eye out for local wildlife, including woodland caribou, bald eagles, grizzly bears, muskrats, and black-backed woodpeckers. Hike the Bell Bay Trail around Lake Coeur d’Alene, or take a dip in the lake for a refreshing swim. When the day is done, stay at well-appointed campgrounds with drinking water and firepits in wooded valleys near peaceful Beauty Creek.

When to go

Camping near Coeur d’Alene is most comfortable from late spring through early fall, when temperatures hover in the high-50s to low-60s during the day. Watch out for slippery or muddy sections on hiking trails following rainfall or snowmelt. Summer is the busiest and hottest time to visit, with daytime highs approaching the mid-80s, and there are very few rainy days.
