Minidoka County Fairgrounds: The fairgrounds are located East of Rupert encompassing an area of approximately sixty-five acres. The grounds includes a rodeo arena, display buildings (antique building, a commercial building, 4-H building), and open air pavilion for livestock shows, family reunions, and other community events. Hidden behind the main grounds is our small and quaint campground in a groomed grassy field. with a spectacular view of Mount Harrison. The Minidoka County Fair held the first week in August and includes a full week of events including entertainment, open class exhibits, food, rodeo, 4-H and FFA livestock shows. Numerous events are held at the fairgrounds throughout the year including Moto-X races, rodeos, auctions, 4-H events. weddings, horseshows, family reunions, and more. Note-Dates have been blocked for these events. We are fortunate to have this multi-purpose facility for use in our community.

Nestled high in the Rocky Mountains of southeast Idaho at an elevation of 6500 ft, our yurt has magnificent views of Mt. Bonneville and the surrounding Pebble Creek Basin. Along with a handful of neighbors, within a private property recreational area, we are surrounded by the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, with vehicle access from mid-May through mid-November each year. Pebble Yurt has a 30 ft diameter with a partial loft for a total of 900 ft2 of indoor living space. You will be completely off grid, but with running hot and cold water, solar electricity, and heating and cooling features. We also feature an indoor shower, sink, and composting toilet. Bring your ATV's, mountain bikes, or hiking boots to explore the Pebble Basin. Or take a short drive to Lava Hot Springs for world-class hot pools, water slides, or white water rafting. Fishing in the Portneuf River or Chesterfield Reservoir, exploring the Chesterfield historic town site, or trying out a zipline or go-cart are other local activities. Pebble Yurt was built circa 2010 by a retiring forest service employee to the highest standards. We've used that canvas to create a unique glamping experience for our guests, with the best creature comforts available in a wilderness setting.

Caribou Yurt on the original Caribou Ski Resort. We have a 20' glamping-style yurt listed on AirB&B. When you book the yurt you can set up a tent as well. We are 5 miles east, outside Pocatello, Idaho at 5900' elevation. We are on 5 acres next to public lands (BLM) We have trees and some flat ground. Great accsess to mountain biking, hiking and ski turing. There are some springs within walking distance & beaver ponds just up the road. In summer you can jump on (or sleep out under the stars on the trampoline and cook over a fire. We have accsess to many miles of MTB trails. In the winter you can ski the MTB trails and the original Caribou Ski Area runs. In winter, accsess to the yurt may mean a 10 min walk down the driveway.

The smaller of the two parks in Caribou-Targhee National Forests, Caribou is a welterweight not to be underestimated. Just south of its older brother, this land spans Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho, and is a crucial spot for supporting caribou populations. None of the animals here are bashful: bison, moose, deer, mountain lions, falcons, elk, and even black bears abound! Beautiful to snap shot from a distance. Just south of the forest, Bear Lake is a fun spot to take a dip after you hike one of Caribou’s dozens of peaks (Mead Peak and Hawks Peak have gorgeous views, as does Big Elk Mountain at the northern tip of the park). At the south end, you’ll find campgrounds, fast flowing creeks, and the Minnetonka Cave at St. Charles Canyon. This is a site to see, but it stays 40 degrees down there all year so be sure to pack a coat, even if you’re sweating above ground. When you’re done, stop in the charming small town of Montpelier, surrounded by rolling hills and full of retro grocers and kitschy eateries. Yum!

3 nights at Mountain View Glamping Yurt

We stayed at Jennifer’s yurt for three nights over the Fourth of July with my husband and kids, and it was such a peaceful and memorable experience. The yurt was cozy, clean, spacious, and thoughtfully decorated — with so many little touches that made our stay extra comfortable. It was also very well-equipped with everything we needed, from a full kitchen and bathroom to extra bedding and three full-size, comfortable beds. The location felt private and peaceful, with beautiful views all around. It was about 30 minutes from Lava Hot Springs, but the scenic drive made it feel much shorter — we actually enjoyed the drive every time. The outdoor area was perfect for spending time together, with a fire pit and a great spot for barbecuing. Jennifer was an excellent host — very responsive and helpful when I had a concern. I really appreciated how much care was put into making guests feel welcome. I’d absolutely recommend this stay to others. Just a heads-up: it gets chilly in the mornings and warm in the afternoons, so bring layers. We’d love to come back!

This was a great stop for the night. Close to the highway, in the middle of town, but also quiet and peaceful. We lucked out and had the place to ourselves. Our dog had the run of the place. 30 amp power and water worked with no problems.
