This rural and remote property is known as Hawaii Island Resort. The macadamia orchard provides a unique and comfortable way to camp in Hawaii. We have a great paved ocean view area for camper vans and many options for pitching tents or parking under the trees. We love to share our abundance with others and opening the property to travelers that love to camp seemed like a perfect addition to our current program. Please, outside pets are not allowed. This Award-Winning off grid campsite was
Named One of the Best HipCamps to Visit in Hawaii in 2025 and 2026. We are nestled in the midst of a mini-Rainbow Eucalyptus Rainforest, with native Ohia trees sparsely located throughout our property. Hapu'u Ferns are also within our mini-Rainbow Eucalyptus Rainforest. Enjoy the stunning 90 - 100 degree ocean views of Hawaii Island's Western Coastline, as well as the new Volcanic Vent (Known as Fissure 8) created by the 2018 Eruption of the Kileaua Volcano.
The Hawaii Volcano National Park (HVNP) is a 14 mile or 20 minute drive from our campsite. HVNP has a visitor's center to get information about the park, hiking trails throughout its boundaries, steam vents and the awe-inspiring caldera, which is the location of the volcano's lava pool. At night, the glow from the lava in the caldera can be seen at the park.
Our campsite is also an 18 mile or 29 minute drive from the Hilo International Airport and the town of Hilo, Hawaii.

We loved our time here. The cabin is awesome, and Chris and Esther have thought of everything. The ducks were so fun, the frogs at night were singing. The hosts Chris and Esther make it all even more special. It’s clear they care about their lifestyle and your experience. They communicated so well, gave great recommendations, were a joy to be around. I would love to stay with them again!

Our son said this was his favorite place we stayed, and it was ours too! There was so much room for our kids to run and explore. We loved strolling around the macadamia nut farm and spent the evening picking mac nuts. We were the only ones at the campsite, which made it feel extra peaceful. There were showers and everything we needed for a comfortable night. Such a great family-friendly spot and a perfect stop between Kona and Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. The hosts were very welcoming and responsive. We hope to come back again soon!

The campsite towards the back of the property is tranquil solitude! Amazing bird watching. Loved the dogs and they seemed to love us too. Had everything we needed. Would absolutely stay here again. Oh and all you can eat macadamia nuts.

There’s hipcamp sites and then there’s this place! I’d take this over a resort any day. Incredible property with clean and comfortable facilities, amazing pool and hot tub, and incredible ocean views. Felt lucky to be there. Also loved the very friendly and well behaved dogs. Thanks Shawn and fam!

Esther and Christopher were great hosts, we were warmly welcomed and got a tour of the cabin. Very responsive, communication was great. The cabin was great. Close to the national park, we got to see the eruption and a sky full of stars, it’s so dark there!
The cabin was well equipped with everything we needed and more.
The ducks are awesome!

Tent camping here was fantastic! Having the side access road made it super easy to drive right up to the campsite to unload. The hot outdoor shower was amazing, and relaxing by the saltwater pool was the perfect way to unwind. On top of that, our host was awesome—they gave us a great tour of the property and were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
