The grant was held for 35 years before Maria Garzon, who survived husband Antonio, sold the land they called Garzon’s Point to Joseph (Jose) Bonifay. The land uses were favorable for cattle grazing and turpentining through the 1800s. Many more pioneer families moved into the area and began their own business in the booming industrial opportunities of western Florida. It came to be known as Yellow River Marsh State Buffer Preserve on June 12, 2000, when it was purchased by the state of Florida to protect rare and environmentally sensitive lands, plants and animals. Through generous donations, Preservation 2000 and the Florida Forever Program, more land was added to protect contiguous habitat of the Garcon Ecosystem. Today Yellow River Marsh Preserve State Park provides recreational opportunities for hiking and nature study along the Great Florida Birding Trail among rare and endemic plant species and within one of Florida’s oldest multi-cultural frontiers.The preserve is located in Santa Rosa County on Garcon Point, which separates Escambia Bay from Blackwater Bay. Closed toed shoes are highly suggested as well as plenty of lighting with batteries or solar charging capability. This is a rugged, fun and serene camping experience. It came to be known as Yellow River Marsh State Buffer Preserve on June 12, 2000, when it was purchased by the state of Florida to protect rare and environmentally sensitive lands, plants and animals. Through generous donations, Preservation 2000 and the Florida Forever Program, more land was added to protect contiguous habitat of the Garcon Ecosystem. What a wonderful place tucked away next to the bay. Our host was very helpful and nice. 2 Adults and 3 kids stayed in both of the glamping tents. What a beautiful place to relax and let the noise of the world fade away. The property is spacious, with plenty of shade and room to run and play, plus a lovely walking trail that leads down to the creek. Though the creek is narrow, it was perfect for walking the full creek bed with our dog as he learns the river. Along the way, we found several swimming holes that were just deep enough to cool off, but never too deep to be safe. The fire pit is beautifully laid out and makes the perfect spot for morning coffee in the shade. The house itself is neat, clean, and tidy, with everything thoughtfully put together — it truly feels like a cozy cabin in the woods. We especially appreciated how private and dog-friendly the property is. Our pittie boy had the best time exploring, swimming, and enjoying the simple pleasures of the private beach and creek walks. It’s exactly the kind of secluded getaway we’re always searching for, and we’ve already added it to our trip planner for future visits. Mary was so very pleasant, patient and accommodating. Camping On The Farm! This is a living quarters horse trailer that we use to travel with our horses. It is a small space! Set on a working farm 5 miles down a red dirt road, the camper offers beautiful views of the Farm and wonderful interaction with nature and the farm animals. We provide a coffee maker (French press), ground coffee, fresh eggs from our chickens, and a loaf of fresh bread (for your consumption or to feed the animals). We do not provide a cooked breakfast. There is no TV or radio. The Camper is nestled 17 miles from Town, so you may want to shop on your way here. The Eastern Shore Center is located at Exit 38, where you can find great shopping, many restaurants, and a Publix grocery store. We try to keep various essential items in the pantry and there is a stocked kitchen (pots, pans, plates, glasses, flatware). TV, landline telephone, and internet are not available. You should have good cell phone service, Verizon and AT&T 4G , outside. Check-in is any time after 3pm and Check-out is 10am. Guest access Please do not open any gates or cross any fences. It's official -- after 4 years of politics we are officially a park and a preserve.....9 acres of 🚶‍♂️ trails 👣 we are still constructing trails by hand I believe this place has a spiritual strength to people of all nations History of our location Count De Galvez awarded a land grant on Garcon Point to Antonio Garzon following his 1781 Siege of Pensacola in consideration of “his good services rendered as an interpreter to the Indians of Pensacola." The grant was held for 35 years before Maria Garzon, who survived husband Antonio, sold the land they called Garzon’s Point to Joseph (Jose) Bonifay. The land uses were favorable for cattle grazing and turpentining through the 1800s. Many more pioneer families moved into the area and began their own business in the booming industrial opportunities of western Florida. It came to be known as Yellow River Marsh State Buffer Preserve on June 12, 2000, when it was purchased by the state of Florida to protect rare and environmentally sensitive lands, plants and animals. Through generous donations, Preservation 2000 and the Florida Forever Program, more land was added to protect contiguous habitat of the Garcon Ecosystem. Today Yellow River Marsh Preserve State Park provides recreational opportunities for hiking and nature study along the Great Florida Birding Trail among rare and endemic plant species and within one of Florida’s oldest multi-cultural frontiers.The preserve is located in Santa Rosa County on Garcon Point, which separates Escambia Bay from Blackwater Bay. Nearly 20 rare and endangered species of plants 🪴 and animals make their homes along the bay and its wet prairies, dome swamps and flatwoods.
