Weekend Trip to Heart of the Country

My friends and I had a brilliant time tent camping on JJ’s property for our trip to Pensacola. The lots were so spacious! we booked two but one was truly enough to comfortably fit all our tents (4). The bathroom included a nice shower pod and a port-a-loo, both which JJ keeps incredibly clean. JJ went above and beyond for us, greeting us when we arrived, lending us mosquito candles during the night and also giving us some taco seasoning as we forgot all our spices. Additionally the camp fire was wonderful to sit around at night. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay near Pensacola or surrounding suburbs.

Dave has a great place! We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the beautiful surroundings. Dave was very amiable and quickly answered my questions. I felt confident I had made a good decision to stay!

I loved the amenities very clean well kept up. Just wish mosquitos didn’t exist lol. Campground was flat and shaded and in a perfect location not horribly far from the beach.

This was a good pit stop👍🏻 you get a lot of space with your campsite which is much appreciated. The porta john was clean, JJ even cleaned it first thing in the morning when I was the only camper. It was an easy walk to navigate the camp site too. I could see the possibility of being open to seeing other campers a little but I wouldn’t mind because it was super spread out. Only recommendation would be some extra tress or bushes to add more privacy from the road and surrounding neighbors. Good spot!

The place was easy convenient to nearby activities, after a long day of exploring and beaches. It’s nice to come back to camp here cause it’s quiet and relaxing. I stayed here for 2 nights. JJ was very very quickly responding to my questions, I highly recommend JJ camp. Thank you

Dave is a friendly guy. Spot was flat and level for our campervan and we had all the privacy we wanted. We aren't dog people, but his dog was very well behaved and didn't bark or disturb at all.

We loved tent camping on J J’s land. It was pretty private. Had an option for a hot shower. Ready to plan our next trip back!

Heart of the Country

Heart of the Country is our home and also your own personal twelve acre state park whenever you stay with us! We are less than 15 minutes from Interstate 10 and from Interstate 65. I offer a half-dozen campsites, all either on a relatively level paved driveway or grass. Power (20 amp and 30 amp) and water is available. We have two 30 amp campsites, which are first come, first served. WIFI is available! (please ask for password). We have a portable toilet for your use. This is a Longleaf Pine sanctuary with lots of nature trails. This is also a hobby farm with livestock (Donkey, two Goats, a Duck and a flock of Chickens). I feed the livestock grain every morning usually between 8 and 9 am, and again hay before dusk. You are always welcome to join me and I'll introduce all of them to you! My dog, Homer, is our very friendly welcoming ambassador who will enthusiastically great you upon your arrival. I put him up in his kennel each evening around dusk, then lock him in his shed until morning which keeps him from backing during the night. We also host an AirBnB, so other guests may be here as well. Texting via the app is our preferred mode of communication. If you call, please leave a message if I can't answer, and I will call you back. We are slowly updating the site photos. Use them only to determine your price, for example: A site with 30 amp power and water is $25 per night. A site with 20 amp power and water is $20 per night. A boondocking site (no power) is $15 per night. All sites have access to a porta-potty and water. Suggested local attraction: Blakeley State Historic Park is four miles away.

Depending on your needs we have five sites. Three sites have water access and two sites have power, water and septic hook up. Sites also have a fire ring and trees to hook a hammock to. **Fire Fly or Lightning bug** season is early spring till early summer with 4 Oaks, Tri-Pine and Surrounded by Shade being the best sites to enjoy the show. A cell tower is nearby so signal is available if needed. Please keep sites tidy and enjoy this historic area.
