This was a great experience for my boyfriend and I. As a nurse i prioritize peace and self care off the clock.....this property was definitely peaceful in a surrounding of nature that influences self care. Dawns land was full of greenery, she organized rental spaces to prioritize privacy. Our rental space was clean and organized. Easily to become a romantic setting for any couple. Bathroom was very clean and cute! Dawn herself was a welcoming and down to earth personality, which is refreshing. So detailed with around the area activities and food. We did not get to use the hot tub (we forgot about it) but I can garentee that would've been just as impressive. I plan to rent again! Thanks Dawn!!!!♡

Ancelin and Aaron have served up the best of glamorous camping at Coco Plum. With a thatched roof and three walls you have have indoor privacy while still feeling very much outdoors. It really seems like they have thought of everything and have put a lot of love and attention to detail into this place. You are sharing their property and they are extremely gracious and warm hosts, welcoming you to use the pool, hot tub, boats and bikes. This is a place for nature lovers and nature is there in abundance, so if you are uncomfortable with critters, including snakes, spiders, wasps, and mice, this stay is not for you. If on the other hand you love critters, you will be spoiled here and like me, probably not want to leave.

Dawn and her family have created an oasis that will rejuvenate and renew your spirit. The gardens are radiant, the tent and restroom was tastefully decorated and all the amenities of a hotel are available - the towels were so soft and the bed was so comfortable! Best part is the hospitality offered by the host who made you feel very welcomed. I will be coming back as my get away retreat.

Bill told me at the beginning of my 2-night stay that he intended for his micro-farm to be an inspiring place and I can confirm… the intention was felt! I left feeling inspired about many things… growing food, feng shui architecture, art, stories, circus life, and just living simply. The beauty of the quaint but rich land left me feeling like a freshly bloomed flower 🌸 If you’re a creative, you especially want to come take a few days in this space to create. creativity just seems to flow in the jungle-island-vibe. I play the ukulele and while I was here, I played for hours in the tropical garden! And wrote for the first time in a while too. Bill made sure I had everything I needed ~ pots, pans, ice, hammock to hang in, sugarcane juice to drink… he truly cares about making an experience enjoyable. I cannot wait to come back to camp at this magical backyard homey retreat again. Thank you Bill, Steph, Noah, Big Red, Salty, Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum, and all the other chicky girls 🐓 for a refreshing and meaningful time in your space.

The tour of his place and the garden was so fun and we got to taste some fruits and veggies we had never heard of. There are plenty of tiny hideaways and sitting spots sprawled around the front and back. Not much laying on the ground or hammock spots because of the chickens but I used the tent deck to do yoga after I packed up and the chickens didn't invade too much. It's a beautiful oasis on a city lot with some top notch amenities! The chickens are also lovely and friendly. :)

What a truly great find!! We just needed a place to sleep for a couple of nights while adventuring in the area. We definitely got more than we expected! This place is a whole unique experience!! The host William was so very attentive to details and was very knowledgeable about the extensive variety of plants on property. I just loved seeing, learning about and even tasting some of them! We opted for the tent because ours is so much work to set up. I absolutely loved the convenience of that!! Thank you for such a wonderful and thoughtful experience! Myakka River State Park

Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park

Best accessed by kayak or canoe, this slice of paradise protects more than 100 miles of shoreline with its marshes and mangrove forests. Explore upland areas with marked hiking trails to spot wildlife, then cross the bridge to Port Charlotte to find cabins, campgrounds, lodging, and private land options for an easy stay near park grounds. Only 75 minutes from Bradenton, this paddle trail preserve is a welcomed disconnect from life on land.

When to go

Florida’s fortunate climate of year-round warm temperatures make camping near Bradenton a delight any time. Tenting, backpacking, and car camping are most recommended between May and October with the humid high temperatures turning to evening chills in the opposing months. Though camping is easily accessible and certainly done year-round—it is the Sunshine State, after all—with higher temperatures come more mosquitos. Be prepared with protection during the early morning, dusk, and evening hours when they are most active.
