The Zella Hut is a cabin built in the late 1800's. It was redone in the 70's and recently updated with mid century modern interiors. Now it serves as a backcountry hut in the winter and glamping cabin in the summer. During the winter it can be accessed by skinning, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. During the summer it can be accessed by car. Its a small cabin, but it can sleep 4 in comfort. No Rv campers, van and sprinter rvs ok.

Bill’s cabin is our fourth lodging option that sits out on our Ridge about a half mile from the lodge building. Bill‘s cabin is off grid and has an out house. It also requires all wheel drive. The common area, houses the sauna, games, washer and dryer, and it’s just basically extra room to spread out. It also includes Wi-Fi and a refrigerator, for bills cabin guests to use. The lodge can be rented as one unit to sleep up to 10 guests. As Colorado's open range law permits ranchers to graze their cattle without borders, you will often find them on the roadways or you may even get caught up in a cattle drive as the ranchers move their cattle from one pasture or paddock to another. Springtime brings all the calves and branding time! Observing the rancher, his horse, and dog working together is a genuine treat. Look along the roadside for sage grouse, in the open fields for pronghorn, down in the willows and streams for the bull moose, in the trees for the mule deer, and on top of the ridge lines for the elk. There are many amazing locations to park a camper or van or even pitch a tent. Property is surrounded by empty land so very secluded but still close to town. Adjacent to the Mineral Belt Trail and easy access to East Side trail system. We live in a house on the property with our 3 year old son, and Buddy the dog, who will be very excited to meet you and might come check on you through out your stay. He loves leftover campfire hot dogs. Please be aware that this is old mining land and there is mining debris and also glass on the property. We work hard to pick it up and repurpose into art projects but it seems to be a never ending battle. If that is of concern this might not be the property for you. However feel free to bring a metal detector and your geology books and you can find a lot of fun treasures on the land if that is your thing!

Weekend Trip to Cloud 11: Secluded & Close to Town

Myself and a few friends tent camped here and really enjoyed it! Camp site has ample trees for tying up a hammok and spots for tents. Location is really close to town while also being secluded which was nice. Met Dan (Megan's husband) and he showed us our spot and was overall a chill dude. Great spot if you are going to be spending a day or two exploring Leadville.

Megan and Dave's place in Leadville was perfect for me and my 3 dogs. Lots of wooded area to walk around in and right next to a 12 mile loop trail. I would definitely stay again.

Weekend Trip to Meadow Hot Springs Glamping Cabin

I had a nice stay with my dog at the end of September. The view is as nice as everyone says. The site is big with an outdoor fire pit, but i didn't use. You are at 11k feet and will feel it hiking and chopping wood for kindling. That was fun with a heavy axe. The portable toilet is interesting. still not sure how I feel about it. Temps were down to 35 night but was fine inside with the wood stove. The road up is pretty rough, but I made it fine in a Tesla 3. Just go slow.

Loved the set up of this well built cabin. Wood stove was a nice feature and kept it nice and toasty inside even with freezing temps. Seclusive and convenient to hiking Mount Bross and even Mounts Lincoln, Cameron and Democrat. Saw a moose and several deer in the open area in front of the cabin which was a highlight.

Everything was great! The directions to the property were clear and easy to follow, and the campsite was just like in the photograph. The site had a ton of trees, which is excellent for shade. There were also plenty of flat spots to pitch a tent, five minutes from town and trails.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this property! It was the perfect spot for a getaway with my pups. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and immaculately maintained, and the cabin itself is both charming and full of fun activities. We were lucky enough to have plenty of hummingbird visitors during our stay, and even had a massive bull moose stop by on our last night. T was an incredible host and made sure we had everything we needed. This will definitely be our go-to place to stay whenever we’re in the area!

Absolutely stunning location. The cabin is great and fitting of the host’s description. Bed was quite comfortable. Grill is solid and will enable you to cook most anything—works perfectly as an oven. The cabin is small but well designed. There are some tight corners with low ceiling clearance (like the sink area) making it a bit tough for tall people. Couple more things to note that may be helpful. there are functional USB ports but the typical outlets did not work for us. Don’t expect to plug anything in. Solar panels provide the electricity— it’s probably by design that the outlets are deactivated reserving power for other things. Solar panels also provide the heat for the “hot springs.” The system was working—warm water was entering the pool, but not at a sufficient rate to heat the cold (and beautifully clear) spring water. There is evidence that they are still working on it. I’m hopeful that one day they’ll be able to deliver on the “hot” part. We still took exhilarating dips a couple of times. Take the altitude seriously, If you’re coming from sea level, you may feel sick for your entire stay. We live at 5600 feet and still spent a full day adjusting. It’s a special place—We had a wonderful time. William was very helpful.

Amazing camp site! It was easy to back in our truck camper and it felt secluded as we were nearly surrounded by trees. Yet, we were just minutes from town. My partner was racing the Leadville 100 and was able to bike directly to the start line. The area was clean and our hosts incredibly accommodating to all our requests. We would definitely stay here again!

Our family of 4 and 2 pups had an excellent experience at Zella Hut! So beautiful with so many different terrains and PRIVACY!! The shelter is everything you could ask for and more. Two king beds with decent mattresses and room for dog beds, couch, table and stove. Tons of blankets, firewood and the little kitchen has everything! Favorite part was the “hot spring” dipping pool next to the creek with a little waterfall! Close second was the view from the expansive cement decking! We had some fun adventures further up the road and next time we will definitely do one of the three 14ers we were so close to. But honestly, that deck was just stunning…our happy place for sure! Thanks for hosting us William- we appreciate your quick and clear communication 🤙🏽
