Weekend Trip to Pendy Farms

We've had a great time there with my three sons. The RV offered comfortable stay for 4 people. The place is very cozy and has everything you'd need for a relaxing staycation out of town: bathrooms with running water, kitchen, fridge, master bed and two bunk beds. Everything is clean and in good order. Jason, the host, was very accommodating and helped us set up a wood fire pit, where we enjoyed our little BBQ and marshmallows under the star-lit sky. We were pleasantly surpsised by the welcome basket full of goodies left by the host for our enjoyment. Dont forget to take off the shoes before going inside to keep the place clean and grab your trash bags on the way out.

Weekend Trip to Splitrock - Branch Out Glamping

What a wonderful experience! We're not big time campers, but we loved Splitrock Stargazer! Super simple self check-in, really nice dome tent, good bed and amenities. The camp store, while tiny, had just what we needed (s'mores, etc) and we were ready to go. We'll certainly go back and we highly recommend Splitrock.

We had a fantastic weekend at Split Rock! Despite the rain every day, we managed to relax and recharge. Pros: The tent was spacious, the fire pit was a nice touch, and the area was wonderfully quiet. It was just a quick 20-second walk to the bathroom and shower, plus the views were stunning. We even had some fun encounters with farm animals (skip paying for the service, though). Everything we needed for cooking was available on-site, and the sound of rain on the canvas tent was soothing. The dirt paths were well-maintained and free of debris. Cons: We did face some challenges with Branch Out Glamping regarding a late check-in (there's no key to pick up). We noticed mouse droppings on the bed pillows and under the bed, and even saw one scurry across the floor late at night. For more privacy, I recommend using the showers by the office, as the one closest to our site was poorly constructed. There was also a missing chair by the fire pit (the pictures showed two loungers), and the bed was quite firm (if you like extra support, you might appreciate it). The next campsite was about 20 yards away, so if it's occupied, be aware they can hear everything happening at your site. Lastly, there was no place to charge electronics; BOG mentioned a communal area for phone charging, but the office staff said that wasn't true. I know this may sound like nitpicking, but don't let that fool you. We had an incredible time and plan to return soon.

Incredible one-night stay there. If anything, the views from the cabin are underrated. Overlooks so much gorgeousness AND got to wake up basically inside a cloud. While it was near freezing outside, stayed plenty toasty inside. Oh, and did do the 20- to 25- minute drive to Borrego Springs for dinner and had several nice options there. Otherwise, prepared simple meals using the the propane stove and kettle. Highly recommend for a single/couple looking for a simple get-away.

I feel so lucky that my doggies and I found Tom's Artist's Ranch and Cricket's Cabin. I will be revisiting the place as often as I can. It's the perfect spot to get some quiet time, with nature and the spectacular mountain views inspiring positivity and creativity. Bonus points if you're artistic, as the land is full of art for you to stumble upon as you hike and explore. Tom is a gifted sculptor and ceramicist, and his work is scattered throughout the property, making each foray out on the trails feel like a treasure hunt. Pros: I came out to get some work done in private, and it was the perfect place to do it. I edited on my laptop from the bed while enjoying a spectacular view of the mountains and the desert. Tom has a well-appointed AC electrical system in the cabin, so you can keep all your devices charged while you're there. There are no other pets on the property, making it the perfect place to let your fuzzy kids explore. The cabin is nice and warm (even in below-40-degree evening temps) due to the propane heater Tom installed. No need to bring your backpacking stove, as there is an outdoor kitchenette outfitted with a burner and propane grill. Tom also provides drinking water and a well-water tap faucet for washing. There is a cute outdoor shower, too. Almost Cons: The location is just inaccessible enough to be cool. Make sure you put the address in the GPS - not the coordinates. Overall it's a great place and I hope you love it!

This place is absolutely adorable – it might just be my favorite tiny house I’ve stayed in! Loved the lofted bed - it truly felt like living out that childhood dream of having your own secret fort, nestled high up in a cozy space. The tiny house was perfectly equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We had a great time cooking our meals in the well-stocked kitchen and relaxing in the peaceful vibe of the space. One fun surprise was the remote-controlled color lighting – you can easily set the ambiance with a range of colors, making it feel like a personalized little retreat. The bathroom was stylish and functional, with all the modern amenities you could ask for. A quick tip – just remember to take out the shower plug where it drains, or it could flood the bathroom. While the tiny house is right next to the other tiny house site, it’s actually a perfect setup for groups of friends or family looking to go glamping together. You can enjoy the privacy of your own space while still being close enough to share the experience. I’d definitely return to this little gem. It’s conveniently located near Palomar Mountain, with beautiful hiking trails nearby. This place has everything you need for a cozy, memorable getaway!

2 nights at Clara Vista High Desert Retreat

Crickets Cabin is pretty special. Tom is great- he was there to greet us with a tour of the cabin and a brief history of his time on the land. He is extremely friendly, kept to himself, but was available at a moment's notice if we needed anything. The cabin and porta potty were very clean, the gas heater kept us toasty, and the hot outdoor shower was such a plus. The view of the land, mountains, and big starry sky in combo with the walking trails really sets this place apart. Very highly recommend for a solo retreat or a romantic getaway!
