Weekend Trip to Lazy Bear Cabin
This cabin is a cute as it it’s cozy! Shout out to Jeff for helping us get the wood burning stove going. It kept the cabin toasty all night. Looking for a chill spot to get away from it all and connect with nature (with creature comforts), this is the place for you!

We enjoyed our time at this little cabin so much. We originally planned to camp elsewhere but the place ended up being flooded, so last minute we were able to book this place and head here within a few hours. The host was planning to close the cabin down for this time but allowed our booking anyway and was very accommodating. He even came from out of town a few hours away to make sure we had everything we needed. Any questions we had he answered right away and even came in the middle of the night to change out the propane tank for us. The atmosphere was wonderful and our dogs were very welcomed. We will definitely be back!

I loved this property!! It was beautiful and had plenty of space!! The cabin was very clean and cozy!! Highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to have a get together with friends or even have a private romantic getaway.
Jeff was very kind and went out of his way to further educate me on local fire practices. Even through my gross negligence Jeff was very patient and kind to me. He took care of me and prevented me from having a serious problem all before I even called him back. DON’T BE LIKE ME!! Please double check after booking to see if you can burn in Placer County!!

We had an amazing stay at this secluded cabin nestled right on a beautiful, peaceful creek. The setting is absolutely serene — perfect for a quiet escape into nature, and especially great for families with kids. Ours spent hours playing by the water, exploring the woods, and just being kids without screens or schedules.
The cabin itself strikes the perfect balance between rustic charm and cozy comfort. It’s a great “glamping” experience — you get all the perks of being out in nature without sacrificing a good night’s sleep, indoor restroom and shower. Thoughtfully stocked and very clean, it made us feel right at home.
If you’re looking for a place to unplug, unwind, and make some lasting family memories, this is it. We’ll definitely be coming back!

3 nights at Lazy Bear Cabin
We had a wonderful stay at Jeff's cabin. Jeff was communicative and helpful. The cabin had all the basic necessities and worked well for my teenage daughter and myself. There was plenty of space to explore on the property, and the forest and creek areas were beautiful. If you travel during the summer months, be prepared for lots of mosquitoes. If you visit on a permissible burn day, I highly recommend using the fire pit for a campfire. It was a great way to end our trip. I suggest you bring your own extra toilet paper, towels, dish soap, and hand soap. Some of these items were provided, but it was nice to have extra since there are not any stores nearby. We look forward to visiting in the future.

Oh man where do I start. I love this place it’s the first time my teen kids, boyfriend, and I went camping together. We spent 1 night passing through, and it was one of the best nights I had in along time. The cabin was fully equipped with pull out bed, kitchen with utensils, pots, pans plates, cups, fridge even seasonings. The bathroom has working amenities with hot water. This was great for my city teenagers. Tv had WiFi but we were having such a great time spending time with each other we didn’t care. It says that it fit 8 people it was 4 of us and not so comfortable for 4 grown people maybe for smaller kids but we adults slept outside under the stars and loved it. The host was really accommodating responded to every question timely and really friend.. he made us feel like home away from home.. if your looking for that out of the city get away with your other half or with family I highly recommend this cabin.

Lazy Bear Cabin was the perfect cozy getaway for our little family! The location was not far off I-80 (but plenty far enough that you're nowhere near the noise), so it was easy to get to. We didn't use it as such, but it'd be the perfect base camp for Tahoe adventures or getting to the local ski resorts.
In off-grid cabins like this, they don't always have running water, so that was a huge plus to have a sink, shower, and flush toilet. We really enjoyed spending the morning with coffee at the countertop bar that overlooks a forest of pine trees. Don't forget to bring your own linens including blankets and towels as this place didn't have any.
The pullout sofa was comfortable enough but some may prefer to bring their own air mattress or sleeping pads. The road in was paved almost the entire way and easy for our truck camper to get to, but was dirt the last 1/10th of a mile. You probably want at least AWD in the winter months so you don't get stuck.
Overall, we loved our stay here and would absolutely go again!

Perfectly snug cabin for me and my daughter. Gas stove for cooking and hot water for showers. Cabin warms up in the sun during the day so we didn't need a fire inside at night. But bring blankets! A good fire pit for s'mores and hot dogs. Nice exploring in the surrounding forest including a nearby creek! Nothing really close by so bring what you need.. including food! The owner is communicative, helpful and close-by if you need anything!

We loved our time at Jeff's cabin. The cabin has everything you need to live a comfortable off grid life. We had snow on the ground durong iur visit that made the place feel tranquil and relaxing. We would totally go again.
In my opinion the bed isn't the most comfortable so maybe bring a air mattress to make it a little more cozy.
Overall this is a great place with everything you need. Jeff is very responsive and helpful. We'll be back again when I can wander through the trees.

Cute little get away! My last experience using Hipcamp was in a yurt which I enjoyed thoroughly but definitely needed a little more amenities such as a running toilet haha and that’s one of the things I got with Jeff’s cabin! Come around this time and maybe you’ll be gifted with a pretty significant amount of snow! Recommended to bring your own bedding, towels, maybe some toilet paper in case hehe and WOOD! My husband and I forgot toilet paper and wood but Jeff was very accommodating and kind! We did have a very minor issue but was it resolved quickly! Also if you are not good with maintaining the fire during winter temps, consider a heated blanket. I had fun keeping the coals alive hah. Lastly a queen size air mattress fits.

It was really nice. Jeff got it all cozy for our arrival, and with two little air mattresses it slept 2 adults and 2 kids. It was all really clean and modern and exactly what we needed before a snow day. A gentle old black lab even came by to play with the kids in the morning and patiently awaited an invite before approaching. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Earth Castle Retreat
We enjoyed isolation from others had we gone to a campground, while still close to the activities we set out to do.
This was late winter outing and choosing the tiny house made the stay for us very enjoyable. Saved me from trailering my camper over the Sierras with my camper!
We had heat, shower, sleeping, cooked outdoors using our Trail Fire BBQ (propane).
We enjoyed a morning rain, trekking the property, fresh air smells! Our small pups enjoyed the roaming opportunities too.
Host Anna-Thea was available as needed, and we did have a meet and greet!
The yurt was vacant allowing us to view that set up too.
It’s so great to support providers on HipCamp, and I’m thankful to find Anna-Thea’s property!

Where to go
South Shore
The South Shore is home to lively South Lake Tahoe, full of restaurants, shops, lodging options, and casinos across the state line. Options include the opportunity to stay in a tent, RV, or cabin, many of which come complete with picnic tables, fire rings, restrooms, hot showers, and dump stations. Just outside of town, historic Camp Richardson offers tent and RV sites and cabins, along with sports rentals from bikes, kayaks, and paddleboards to snowshoes and cross-country skis. Near the Tallac Historic Site, find the Fallen Leaf Campground with campsites and yurts in the woods just north of Fallen Leaf Lake.
West Shore
The West Shore is home to some of the most scenic Lake Tahoe campgrounds and parks, including Emerald Bay State Park. Camp at Eagle Point Campground, on a promontory overlooking the bay, or spend the night at a boat-in campground right on the shore. D.L. Bliss State Park offers several campgrounds, including one near Lester Beach. Additional public options include the Meeks Bay Campground and the campground at Ed Z’berg Sugar Pine Point State Park. To escape the crowds, head into Desolation Wilderness in Eldorado National Forest.
North Shore
The North Shore stretches from Tahoe City to Incline Village and includes several charming towns in between, with shops, restaurants, and beaches. Just south of Tahoe City, William Kent Campground offers yurts, cabins, and tent sites, while Kaspian Campgrounds offers tent-only campsites. Camp right by the lake at the Tahoe State Recreation Area, or head inland from Lake Tahoe to find camping options along the Truckee River toward Truckee and high up on Mount Rose.
East Shore
The east shore is Tahoe’s least developed area, home to the popular Sand Harbor beach and East Shore trail on the northern end.
