A Few Considerations Before Booking:
Getting Here: Your journey begins with a scenic drive, we live 5-10 minutes down a dirt road. It’s been graded in the last few months, so standard cars like a Civic or Prius will do just fine. That said, this route isn’t ideal for very low-clearance vehicles, those uneasy about dirt roads, or trailers/RVs over 30 ft.
Off-Grid Adventure: Since we're living that sustainable off-grid dream, we work with what we call a composting "outhouse" rather than a traditional septic system. If this rustic charm doesn’t sit well with you, we might not be the ideal fit.
Pet & Wildlife Lovers: We embrace friendly furry companions! Just bear in mind, the desert is home to critters galore—everything from coyotes to bobcats. Keep a watchful eye on your pets and please make sure you clean up after your pets.
Adult-Only Zone: We cater to an 18+ crowd—so it's a peaceful haven sans kids.

We (Tim and Victoria) moved out to our place in the desert in February 2008 along with our many plants. We have continued to grow our little farm of 6 acres to what it is today, which includes an orchard with about 50 fruit and nut trees and enclosed garden/greenhouse structures with veggies and herbs that are protected from wildlife and the elements. We have a seasonally heated pool with 3/4 wraparound deck and amazing views of the Tucson Mountains. We have a basketball court, a ping pong table, cornhole court as well for recreation. Our Beach site has a domed 'chill zone' with heaters in the winter, comfortable chairs for relaxation and a great spot to let your dog hang out unleashed. Our Prickly Pear site has a pull through for campers and RVs. Our RV site has 30 amp electric and black water dump station.
All of our sites are fenced in, and have many, many cool amenities such as fire pits, sinks with fresh, pure water, table with 4 chairs, gas grills and lounge chairs/porch swing.
Our property in a 160-acre neighborhood surrounded by open desert state lands.
In our sustainable community/neighborhood are like minded, peaceful people who are as connected to and respectful of the land as we are.

11 Acres in rural Cochise County at the end of the road. We back up to the San Pedro Riparian Area, and the San Pedro River, offering hiking, birding, wildlife watching, and other recreational activities. The roads leading to the property from Hereford Road are dirt that are regularly maintained, but you may experience some washboard along the way depending on the season.
Cochise County is dark sky country. After viewing those amazing Arizona sunsets, cast your eyes on the night sky, and see stars and the Milky Way like you've never experienced before! Experience the abundant wildlife that comes through the property. Birds, Javelina, deer, listen to the coyotes howl. It simply is magical!
Bird watching: Experience hundreds of different species of birds in Cochise County (485 at last count). Lots of different hummingbirds (we're the hummingbird capital of the United States), hawks, sparrows, roadrunners, cactus wren, quail, and the list goes on. Be sure to hike down the San Pedro River, or to Ramsey Canyon to see even more!
Hiking: With an abundance of canyons in the area, there's hiking opportunities all around us! A short 10 minute drive lands you at the foot of the Huachuca Mountains with Ramsey Canyon, Miller Canyon, Carr Canyon, and many more! But above all, we have a private gate leading to the BLM land situated right next to the RV pad! Feel free to use it to go and explore, maybe even hike down to the river. Don't be surprised if you see people on horseback, as this is a very popular equestrian area.
There are tons of sightseeing opportunities around us, such as Bisbee (be sure to check out Old Bisbee, and the Bisbee Breakfast Club for some amazing food), Tombstone (OK Corral puts on a very entertaining show), Cartchner Caverns State Park, Coronado National Memorial. All within a short drive from here. If you'd like to visit Mexico, you can cross at Naco (about 15 minute drive) or at Douglas (about 45 minutes)
Lots of restaurants in Sierra Vista, but we recommend trying Mimosa Pizzeria, or La Sierra Steakhouse, both just a 10 minute drive down the road, along with Dollar General for your immediate needs.
The RV site offers full hookups, 30/50 Amp service. Your pets are welcome to roam around off leash, as long as they're people and dog friendly.

My name is Joel, and I turned my off-grid property into a park. It’s located right across the street from a 3,000 acre swath of Arizona recreational state land. AZ state land is like a state park, but with zero amenities. So, I started building amenities on my property.
We now have trash service, compost toilets, running hot water, a shower building, a furnished campsite, a mini barndominium, and everything runs on solar power.
We also get Amazon deliveries.
The park is only 20 miles from the Tucson city limits, but when you get out here you’ll feel like you’re a million miles away. Your ears will ring for the first half hour while adjusting to the quiet.
It’s a great place to read a book, unwind, and take some time off from the mouse marathon of daily urban life.
It’s also a great place to bring your ATV, dirt bike, or favorite pew-pews to go play Mad Max Beyond Thunderchicken out in the state land.
There’s a little something for everybody if you know what I mean.
Night time is very dark out here. There are no street lights because Kitt Peak National Observatory is just over yonder. You can see it from the property.
Most nights the Milky Way is clear and visible in the sky. I have pathway lights, and low lumen lighting around the park, but a flashlight is still helpful for getting around at night.
Next door is a bird sanctuary with 2 macaws (Blue Bird and Max), and halfway up the mountain (Keystone Peak) is an abandoned fluorite mine you can go explore.
We are in the foothills of the Sierrita Mountains, at an elevation of 3,200 ft. That’s 1,000 ft higher than Tucson, and 2,000 ft higher than Phoenix. The plant life is very lush and green for the desert, and the wildlife is plentiful.

A Few Considerations Before Booking:
Getting Here: Your journey begins with a scenic drive, we live 5-10 minutes down a dirt road. It’s been graded in the last few months, so standard cars like a Civic or Prius will do just fine. That said, this route isn’t ideal for very low-clearance vehicles, those uneasy about dirt roads, or trailers/RVs over 30 ft.
Off-Grid Adventure: Since we're living that sustainable off-grid dream, we work with what we call a composting "outhouse" rather than a traditional septic system. If this rustic charm doesn’t sit well with you, we might not be the ideal fit.
Pet & Wildlife Lovers: We embrace friendly furry companions! Just bear in mind, the desert is home to critters galore—everything from coyotes to bobcats. Keep a watchful eye on your pets and please make sure you clean up after your pets.
Adult-Only Zone: We cater to an 18+ crowd—so it's a peaceful haven sans kids.

We (Tim and Victoria) moved out to our place in the desert in February 2008 along with our many plants. We have continued to grow our little farm of 6 acres to what it is today, which includes an orchard with about 50 fruit and nut trees and enclosed garden/greenhouse structures with veggies and herbs that are protected from wildlife and the elements. We have a seasonally heated pool with 3/4 wraparound deck and amazing views of the Tucson Mountains. We have a basketball court, a ping pong table, cornhole court as well for recreation. 11 Acres in rural Cochise County at the end of the road. We back up to the San Pedro Riparian Area, and the San Pedro River, offering hiking, birding, wildlife watching, and other recreational activities. The roads leading to the property from Hereford Road are dirt that are regularly maintained, but you may experience some washboard along the way depending on the season.
Cochise County is dark sky country. After viewing those amazing Arizona sunsets, cast your eyes on the night sky, and see stars and the Milky Way like you've never experienced before! Experience the abundant wildlife that comes through the property. Birds, Javelina, deer, listen to the coyotes howl. It simply is magical!
Bird watching: Experience hundreds of different species of birds in Cochise County (485 at last count). Lots of different hummingbirds (we're the hummingbird capital of the United States), hawks, sparrows, roadrunners, cactus wren, quail, and the list goes on. Be sure to hike down the San Pedro River, or to Ramsey Canyon to see even more!
Hiking: With an abundance of canyons in the area, there's hiking opportunities all around us! A short 10 minute drive lands you at the foot of the Huachuca Mountains with Ramsey Canyon, Miller Canyon, Carr Canyon, and many more! But above all, we have a private gate leading to the BLM land situated right next to the RV pad! Feel free to use it to go and explore, maybe even hike down to the river. Don't be surprised if you see people on horseback, as this is a very popular equestrian area.
There are tons of sightseeing opportunities around us, such as Bisbee (be sure to check out Old Bisbee, and the Bisbee Breakfast Club for some amazing food), Tombstone (OK Corral puts on a very entertaining show), Cartchner Caverns State Park, Coronado National Memorial. All within a short drive from here. If you'd like to visit Mexico, you can cross at Naco (about 15 minute drive) or at Douglas (about 45 minutes)
Lots of restaurants in Sierra Vista, but we recommend trying Mimosa Pizzeria, or La Sierra Steakhouse, both just a 10 minute drive down the road, along with Dollar General for your immediate needs.
The RV site offers full hookups, 30/50 Amp service. Your pets are welcome to roam around off leash, as long as they're people and dog friendly.

My name is Joel, and I turned my off-grid property into a park. It’s located right across the street from a 3,000 acre swath of Arizona recreational state land. AZ state land is like a state park, but with zero amenities. So, I started building amenities on my property.
We now have trash service, compost toilets, running hot water, a shower building, a furnished campsite, a mini barndominium, and everything runs on solar power.
We also get Amazon deliveries.
The park is only 20 miles from the Tucson city limits, but when you get out here you’ll feel like you’re a million miles away. Your ears will ring for the first half hour while adjusting to the quiet.
It’s a great place to read a book, unwind, and take some time off from the mouse marathon of daily urban life.
It’s also a great place to bring your ATV, dirt bike, or favorite pew-pews to go play Mad Max Beyond Thunderchicken out in the state land.
There’s a little something for everybody if you know what I mean.
Night time is very dark out here. There are no street lights because Kitt Peak National Observatory is just over yonder. You can see it from the property.
Most nights the Milky Way is clear and visible in the sky. I have pathway lights, and low lumen lighting around the park, but a flashlight is still helpful for getting around at night.
Next door is a bird sanctuary with 2 macaws (Blue Bird and Max), and halfway up the mountain (Keystone Peak) is an abandoned fluorite mine you can go explore.
We are in the foothills of the Sierrita Mountains, at an elevation of 3,200 ft. That’s 1,000 ft higher than Tucson, and 2,000 ft higher than Phoenix. The plant life is very lush and green for the desert, and the wildlife is plentiful.

Only 18 miles away you have Kartchner Caverns State Park. Caves may seem spooky but trust us that this state park is not a place to skip. Experience the awesome might of Kubla Khan, the largest cave column in Arizona at three stories tall. His majesty sits in the Throne Room, where massive stalactites also live. View the world's biggest conglomeration of brushite moonmilk in the Big Room.
Arrive at sunset to see thousands of bats, especially during the summer. Bats roost in the Big Room because that's where they give birth to their young. Take a sunset tour to watch the creatures of the night go in search of food.
Explore the backcountry of the Whetstone Mountains along the Ocotillo Trail. Consider a guided tour with a park ranger who takes you over moderate terrain. Prepare for sweeping vistas of the valley below you. Have a camera on hand to make your social media followers jealous.

Extremely friendly folks! Very cool concept and layout. There is a company next-door that gets to work pretty early, but that didn’t bother me because I’m an early riser. I just noticed it when I was leaving to go on an early hike. Community areas were kept impeccable. I car camp so the space allocated was perfect for me. I only used location as a base for a national Park visit, so I can’t really speak to the surrounding area too much more. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Beautiful spot to camp in an amazing community. Our hosts and neighbors were all friendly, caring, and welcoming. The campsites were nice and tidy, the bathroom, shower, and laundry facilities were all in great shape. Patagonia is small, but the campsite is an easy walk to the main street. We only moved our vehicle once to start a bike route.

The pictures are beautiful and eye-catching, but they barely scratch the surface of the alternate universe you step into when you arrive at El Pais Motel and Campground. From the moment we pulled in, it felt like we were part of something special.
The drive-in movie night with popcorn, the food truck and snacks, on-site laundry, and the welcoming community space all made the stay incredibly comfortable and memorable. Add in the creativity woven throughout the property, and it easily became one of our favorite stays to date.
Huge thanks to Jade and Karl for creating such a fun, thoughtful, and unique experience. We will absolutely be back!!
