Flat, gravel spaces at Pinochle Trailhead in Glacier View, Alaska. Great hiking, biking, ATV or snow machine on historic trail. Although a number may be assigned at booking, just pick the best available camp space that works for you on arrivial. You'll need to bring your own water and keep a clean camp. Pinochle Trail goes north into the backcountry for around 12 miles and joins other trails. Pinochle trail is a section of the ancient Knik - Nelchina Trail used by natives, trappers, miners and hunters for eons. It traverses the natural route from the Matanuska Valley up and over the mountain range into Copper River country. Hicks was one of the early guides who had a cabin at Hicks Creek and served with U.S. Army Lieutenant Joseph Castner to brushwack a trail northwest for Captain Glenn in 1898. Described in his journal as at "Tale of Hardship and Suffering" they ended up eating their mules and shoes before reaching their goal far to the north. Today we use these trails with relative ease compared to the old timers but the scenery and mud holes remind us of what they went through.

We absolutely love this place. Love the serenity and privacy. The host is top-notch and provides for every need. We are returning guests and this is by far our favorite place to camp. I absolutely loved this campsite! It was private, peaceful, and set up perfectly—everything I needed for a relaxing getaway. The location right on the Little Su was absolutely beautiful, and it was easy to get to as well. The host was great to rent from and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. I’ll definitely be back again!

Such a gem of a property!! Very thoughtful accommodations, clean, quiet and private. There's plenty of space to spread out, and the river was so clear and peaceful. Kiddos had a blast exploring the trails, river, and picking wild berries. The fire pit cranks!! Nice and toasty and the pavilion is such a charming and well apprecited addition. We definitely recommend and hope to return soon! Kris was very responsive and helpful. Lovely host!! I hope future renters are respectful to the property and leave it nice and clean so others can continue to enjoy!

We loved the cozy cabin, the wood fired cook stove, the beautiful river right next to it, and all of the very helpful kind staff, would stay there again and again if we could! Sauna was an especially nice feature after rafting six mile river. No running water or working stove other than wood fired one, be ready to go back in time a bit, but everything you need is just over the bridge at the main cafe building

It was absolutely gorgeous and quiet. Had beautiful views of the train and got some amazing pictures. We booked and came late at night. They even came out to greet us. We did the extended options and it was perfect for a calm morning with a little walk! Thank you so much and we can’t wait to stay again!

We stayed here this last weekend for our anniversary/Father’s Day. We really enjoyed the quiet relaxing weekend. Spot #1 was able to accommodate our 36ft toy hauler. Beautiful are area along side a creek. We were able to see the train go by, which we enjoyed. There was water and electric hookups at a very reasonable price. Our dogs were welcome. The camp hosts are exceptional. Very helpful . We would highly recommend and plan on returning when possible

We had a really great time. We had spot number 4 I believe and put our travel trailer there. It was right uphill from the creek. Caught four little grayling. Jeff and his family were very pleasant. Power, water, fire pit and a nice picnic table. Very clean, nice gravel pad and easy access to Willow.

Path through the campground and sites are are gravel mix to be comfortable enough for tents but firm enough for driving

The directions on Hip Camp to his property have to be changed- they are incomplete. Flat graveled area amidst the birch trees with water and electric. Darling family have fenced in chickens and ducks that they help you to feed and will show you the creek. Cassette toilet and outside shower stall- concrete standing base, housed in small beautifully hand made wooden building. Fee for dump, large rigs would not fit. Local bush plane airstrip near and Alaska Trains run next to property.
