300 acres of family land since 2000. This area was called Boot's Bottoms growing up and the name stuck. There is a rock wall close to the campsite that was a old grist mill site. Plenty of wildlife, bird watching, wildflowers and creek walking. Some old ATV trails for hiking as well. Very remote and quite!

Welcome to CAMP 222, a private campground nestled on approximately 1 acre of land adjacent to Lewis Smith Lake in Cullman, AL.
Experience the tranquility of lake life as you enjoy boating adventures accessed via our private boat ramp. Relax and bask in the sun on our floating sun deck, or unwind in the shade with a nap in one of our hammocks. As night falls, gather around our fire pit to share stories without the distractions of nearby campers.
Our campground offers camper hook-ups for water and electricity, although sewer facilities are not available from April - November a portable toilet is on site. During the months of December - March, guests must either have a camper with a restroom or bring their own camp toilets.
Conveniently situated just off Cullman County Road 222, our campsite is within a quarter mile of two gas stations, two independently owned stores offering short-order food options, and a Dollar General. While there may be some road noise from County Road 222, especially during daytime hours, it typically tapers off in the evening and nighttime.
Enjoy stunning views of the 4th of July fireworks from Smith Lake Park, as our property provides a prime vantage point.
Lewis Smith Lake, managed by Alabama Power, spans 21,000 acres and is the deepest lake in Alabama at 264 ft. The water level varies throughout the year, usually reaching full-pool from April to July before gradually decreasing for the autumn and winter seasons. Please note the rocky shore near the sun deck, which is why jumping or diving from the sun deck is prohibited.
The nearby City of Cullman, located approximately 10 miles away, offers abundant shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Additionally, the city hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, including the Strawberry Festival in April, Octoberfest in October, and Christkindlmarkt in November & December.

The Dry Bones Live (Ezekiel 37).
The first visit in 2019 to this 21 acres was both a shock and a confirmation. It had everything on our check list and more - nearly flat land, convenient location, but also twice the acreage, a roadbed, diversity, Monarch butterflies everywhere, access to a big lake.....and it was littered with logs!! They were in piles and scattered everywhere.
But this particular land was being placed in my hands to steward and to reveal the creativity and loving nature of Yahweh. And that meant not bulldozing or burning the logs. Instead, the task was to breathe life into the logs and the land through gentle stewardship to protect the biodiversity and build good soil. Breath of Life Farm is being regeneratively developed to cultivate elderberries, vineyards, peaches, mushrooms, and small plantations of trees for wood or nuts.
My sister, Pam, and I hope that visitors will come to enjoy the seasonal changes of flower colors, watch for foot and hoof prints of wildlife, enjoy the songs of the birds and the frogs, see how many different native mushroom species they can spot, and be marveled by the stars as they sparkle in the dark night sky.
Our wish is that through the years, folks return to see the changes and positive impact of regenerative farming practices. To be a witness to the life breathed into this land. We hope you will be inspired, uplifted, strengthened, and energized by the story of Breath of Life Farm.

When we camped in we had 9 campers. 9 more visiting family members a total of 18. We had easy access with family members coming in by boat and car.
We had a wonderful time and definitely would recommend. The host had very quick responses to my inquiries. Not to mention a very sweet father that was beaming with pride when he showed us the place and gave us a map and magazine with an article written about camp 222 .

The bathrooms are up a little gravel hill and are closer to all the other sites than this one, but the walk was just fine for us. Bathrooms were very clean and cute and even had some strategically placed screws in the walls to use as hooks for our stuff.

How do I write a review that fully expresses what a magical retreat Sarana is... without spoiling the true treasures this experience provided? Hosts Sharon and Roy are both incredible humans, who have personally curated the grounds into a refuge of peace and tranquility. They, generously and gracefully, entertained my sons 1001 questions about the forest and all the animals they've seen. The shower is absolutely incredible. Period. We only stayed for one rainy night, and still came out feeling like we had a vacation, and met new lifelong friends. You can enjoy the serene peace of a nearby waterfall accessible by the property, or ask Roy about his sailing adventures, or Sharon about the birds you hear around...any which way, you will leave Sarana well 'fed', in every sense of the word. We can't wait to return for more excursions with our family. Don't miss this absolutely gem of a Hipcamp.

Private and quiet from road and highway noise. The frogs come alive at night, the sounds they make are incredible. All the amenities are provided and some extras. We loved glamping at OMSP. Sarah’s tent was great and she was a very responsive host. The second night we lost power because a tree downed a power line. Some of our group said they prefer primitive camping so they were loving the power outage. We did the hike to the Peavine Falls. We skipped the 6 mile trails before and drove straight to the parking lot at the end of Terrace and you can take the blue or white trail. When you see two benches, follow that trail to the falls. There is so much to do. We look forward to going again.

Such a beautiful, serene place. Very easy to get to, especially if from central Alabama. You literally drive right up. The route to is well maintained once off of paved road. Part gravel, part dirt. Can tell it’s been driven on a lot so well packed. Wet weather may be tricky for two wheel drives but most of the time should be no problem. Will be returning, highly recommend.

What a big beautiful piece of land! It's situated behind the last house on a dead end road. The sites are private from one another, each with their own unique natural space. Waaaay better than being crammed in on an established campground or rv park. When you drive back there's an open field with a rolling hill that leads down to the pond. Around and beyond is thick with trees with wide trails and several clearings to pitch a tent, wander and explore. Jimmy is an exceptional host! It's clear to see his good intentions with sharing his property making it comfortable, safe and peaceful for us campers. Thank you!

The whole site was tidy, well maintained and we loved that it was fully (except for the water side) fenced in so our dog could safely run around.
