Glamping in Alabama

·

If you’re looking to camp in Alabama without the hassle of pitching a tent or driving an RV, don’t worry—the Heart of Dixie has plenty of options for a glamping getaway, so you can escape to the wilderness without having to leave all your home comforts behind. Whether you fancy cozying up in an atmospheric treehouse, checking into a vintage Airstream, or sleeping in a yurt on the shore of Lake Martin, there’s a glamping adventure to suit all tastes. You don’t have to head completely off-grid either because some of the best glampsites are found in and around Alabama’s state parks. DeSoto State Park has log cabins and mountain chalets right on the edge of Little River Canyon National Park, Cheaha State Park has heated chalets with outdoor firepits perfect for the winter months, and Gulf State Park has everything from simple safari tents to luxury lakeside cottages.

In Alabama, glamping is a type of outdoor stay combining camping's nature setting with the luxury and convenience of comforts like beds, warm showers, or electricity. When glamping in Alabama, there's no need to bring your own tent—instead, glampers may stay the night in a cabin, a vintage Airstream, a canvas bell tent, a yurt, or even a treehouse.

A few notes on the property: Most people have never used an EcoToilet and don’t realize it takes some work. If you have children, you will very likely have to do this part for them. We keep the lounge area as clean as possible but at the end of the day it is an outdoor kitchen! Kitchenwares will have a layer of dust even if cleaned the day prior, so please give everything a rinse before you using! You may read about mosquitoes in some of our past reviews, but I am happy to share that we now have a monthly mosquito service in place that has mitigated that issue :) Learn more about this land: Our intention for this artist community is to bring like-minded people together and make the world a more beautiful place. It serves as our primary residence and also residence for seasonal workers&traveling artists when they come here. Every year we have the opportunity to employ about a dozen people to work with us during the tourist season, from March-October. Aside from our local employees, we also wanted to create a space that would allow for fellow travelers to join our crew.
