The river area is very pretty, however the owner was doing earthworks with heavy machinery (excavator, tip truck, front end loader, bob cat & a roller compactor) the afternoon we arrived, until sunset, and then all of the next day.
Which meant a lot of noise, dust, and diesel fumes. My back yard in suburbia is more peaceful than that!
I really don’t think they should be taking bookings when they have earth works planned!!
To top it off the owner turned on flood lights shining down onto the camp ground at night, not much good for star gazing… and it felt like we were being watched.
The $20 worth of fire wood bundle was supposed to last two nights, they do encourage you to forage on the property, we should have bought our own, the stuff they supplied was small bits of fence stays that burnt fast with no heat.
They however did not mind us waiting until our tent and awning had dried in the morning before we packed up which was appreciated… a 10am checkout when you are camping is a bit of an ask especially in winter… I can see it working for caravaners but not campers.. I don’t know if this checkout is a Hipcamp thing or just individual owners… also lots of broken glass left behind around the other sites when we went for a stroll… the property is small, nothing to do unless you like fishing… one camp site under a fig tree is described as private but is actually quite exposed and on a fence line between two drive ways. The whole place is not private or secluded as suggested…
