The driveway through the gate could be a bit wider. Photos need updating, you can't access the gazebo on the little island.

Beautiful spot right by the dam. Flat sites everywhere to choose from. The road into the property was sealed and Dans directions spot on. The gate was a little tight for our 19 foot van but easy if you swing wide as you curve around toward the gateway. We spent 3 nights and loved the wildlife and listening to the frogs at night.

The lake view and the peaceful ambiance at this site are a calming tonic to blow away the city stresses. Lots of space, fairly level sites, relaxing vibe, quiet spot away from any traffic. And plenty of Roos to entertain you.
As with most Hipcamps, it's a bit pricey considering there is no power or drinking water, but keep in mind it is not far to Canberra and surrounds, so there is convenience to consider.

The Hidden Fairway
The spot was honestly so beautiful! The sound of birds chirping in the morning, the gentle rustle of nature, and even a kangaroo came by to welcome us — such a lovely experience. Unfortunately, it was raining the whole day, so the weather wasn’t the best, but despite that, we decided to stay overnight. We were the only ones there, which made it peaceful and a little adventurous at the same time. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, scenic escape.

We were the only campers at this time. The space is quiet, fireplaces are everywhere to use. Pick your own camping spot.
We didn't see our host at all.
Toilet is clean & tidy. Take yr own toilet paper.. will def return.

Great spot striking distance from Canberra City. Flushing toilets are quite a surprise in this type of offering. Nice and clean as well. We enjoyed our stay as the area was quite lush and green at this time. I do agree that it could become a dust bowl but the owners have cleverly seeded to encourage grassy cover. Tight access for a 19 foot van on the front gate entrance but still doable. All in all a real gem.

Was a perfect spot for an overnighter!
As a music wedding vendor, I often drive in and out of Canberra in need of an overnight stay that accomodates my strange arrival hours and gives me a spot to pop the rooftop tent and have a quiet one by the fire after a hectic wedding day.
Goolabri was just that - popped in on the way through to scope the site, then came back 12 hours later to do just that.
The firepit was already prepped for me with some wood and I was able to decompress with a quiet bevvy before jumping into bed.
Waking up to the frogs, birds and breeze was a real treat as well as getting great sunny weather to get up to for a coffee and packdown to drive back to Sydney. Toilet was clean and working well (BYO paper).
Thanks Dan - will come again!

This is the type of place you stay at for an overnight stop or if you want a base from which you can explore Canberra. Unfortunately it was quite the dust bowl, unlike the photo images we saw. But we appreciated the flushing toilets. It's just a shame when some campers don't make an effort to keep them clean and don't make use of the toilet brushes that are provided. Kids were very happy playing in the surrounds. Lots of wildlife around; ducks on the lake, kangaroos nearby, many different bird calls and the sound of frogs at night. On our first night there was a wedding reception being held in the nearby venue, so the music was pretty loud until 11pm (but the DJ was amazing and we had our own private dance party around the campfire!). Plenty of kindling and wood to be found around the place. Never heard from the host when I emailed him prior to our stay. Never saw him or met him whilst we were there - which made the whole transaction feel pretty impersonal. It was a bit odd. But still we had a fun stay and appreciated the easy day trips into Canberra.

Nice open space around old golf course water feature, two toilets and plently of grassy space to spread out. Really peaceful, highly recommend if going to ACT.

Loved camping here. Easy drive into Canberra, lovely spacious area to set up camp, quiet and tranquil location.
There’s toilets and dam water at a tap, but we were self contained so didnt need them
Plenty of firewood to forage 🔥

Korean group left all their garbage behind. Then the Indian group were driving fast and covering everyone in dirt. Not to mention the danger with kids running around. Site is great but need to get better people in. I'd suggest raising the price and limiting to less bookings instead.

The site was beautiful & clean. Flushing toilets were definitely a plus. Local kangaroos came out to say hello at dusk & view of the dam gave the camp a picturesque effect.

A lovely area, huge space. Once you get there you, you pick a spot and set up.
There is a nice dam you park up next to.
They have flushing toilets, just no toilet paper.
It was very windy the two nights we were there, but still a nice spot to camp.

A very clean and tidy natural environment that had nice amenities for those that don’t have portable toilet options. Booking process and directions provided were seamless. Close to freeway for easy access, especially if like us you only had time for an overnight stop, although longer stays would still be great and allow more time to explore the area.

Beautiful campground. My partner and I loved staying here for a mid-way overnight stop while traveling to Threadbo.
Easy access and understandble directions to campground.

Just spent 3 nights here with our friends and our vans. Nice place. The Eagle Hawk hotel is only 5 mins away with great food & drinks as well as a fuel station & cafe. Contrary to other reviews the toilets were exemplary. Very clean and accessible. Can imagine that when the camp grounds get very busy that the toilets become untidy but that would be due in the main to people not cleaning up after themselves. Some nice walks to be had & plenty of birdlife to watch.
