Escape the hustle and reconnect with nature at our peaceful farmstay campsite on Putty Road, nestled in the heart of rural New South Wales. Whether you’re after wide open spaces, shady creekside relaxation, or a unique countryside experience, our working farm has something for everyone. Campers can choose from two main areas: 🌿 Creekside Camping – Pitch your tent or park your van near the serene seasonal creek at the bottom of the property. After rain, the creek comes to life, offering a peaceful spot that’s perfect for unwinding. 🌾 Main Camping Area – Stay closer to our well-equipped amenities block, which features four clean toilets and two hot showers, along with access to power and water. This is a great option for those who prefer a few more comforts during their stay. Families are especially welcome here – there’s plenty of room for kids to ride non-motorised bikes, run around, make noise, and simply enjoy being kids in a safe and open space. It’s the kind of place where childhood adventures come alive. We also have a bike track and playground to keep the kids entertained while you sit back and relax. We also welcome groups – if you're interested in booking as a group, please message the host, and we can open up extra sites to accommodate you. In the evenings, gather around the fire pit under the stars – perfect for roasting marshmallows, sharing stories, or simply soaking in the peaceful sounds of the countryside. Small campfires in the above-ground fire pits provided are permitted. During the Fire Danger Period fires are generally permitted for cooking, heating or recreation. Please note that campfires are not permitted on Total Fire Ban days, so it's important to check conditions before lighting one. As a working farm, you’ll often see cattle, sheep, and horses grazing in nearby paddocks (and if you're staying creekside, they may even share the paddock with you), adding to the authentic rural charm. Kids and adults alike love watching the animals roam. Bring your camera, your campfire stories, and your sense of adventure – then relax under the stars. This unique slice of country life is ready to welcome you. Please note there is no mobile reception at the camp ground, except for limited Telstra coverage (occasionally one bar) in some spots—perfect for a digital detox!

This campsite is located close to our well-equipped amenities block, which features four clean toilets and two hot showers. Guests can also gain access to power (please see the host for details). It’s a great option for those looking for a few extra comforts during their stay. Families will love the on-site bike track and playground, providing plenty of fun for the kids to enjoy throughout their stay. There’s also our beautiful heart-shaped dam, which makes a fantastic photo spot and is perfect for cooling off with a refreshing swim on warmer days. While there is no mobile reception at the campground, guests can connect to our guest Wi-Fi to stay in touch if needed. Limited Telstra coverage (occasionally one bar) is also available in some areas. It’s the perfect balance between staying connected and enjoying a relaxing digital detox in nature.

🌿 Creekside Camping – Pitch your tent or park your van in a large open paddock near our seasonal creek at the bottom of the property. This area offers plenty of space to spread out, relax, and enjoy a peaceful farm setting. Important – Please read before booking: The creek is weather dependent. At times it flows and creates a beautiful spot for relaxing and playing, but it is often a dry creek bed, especially during drier periods. Please book with this in mind, or check with host on the status of the creek before booking. This campsite is located in a shared paddock with farm animals, and cows are often grazing in the area. By booking this site, you are agreeing to camp alongside livestock. As this is a working farm, the paddock is unmaintained and not manicured like a traditional campground. While grass is generally kept to a short and manageable level, conditions may vary. After rain, the creek comes to life and becomes a peaceful, picturesque feature. When flowing, it’s a great spot for kids to splash in the shallow water and play in the creekside sand. During dry periods, it remains a quiet, open natural space to enjoy, kids love to dig and play in the sand. Please note there is no mobile reception at the campground—perfect for a digital detox!

Thompson’s Stockman Hut is a simple, charming one-room farm hut set within our working property at Thompson Campground. It’s cosy, practical and full of quiet country charm. The hut is entirely yours to enjoy. Inside you’ll find an open-plan space with a comfortable bed, a small breakfast bar, and everything you need for a relaxed stay. Your private bathroom is located at the back of the hut and includes a shower and toilet, easily accessed directly from the building. There are no shared amenities — the hut and facilities are exclusively for your use during your stay. The hut is air conditioned and also has an electric fireplace to keep you comfortable during your stay. IMPORTANT NOTE: Pillows and linen (e.g sheets, blankets, towels, tea towels etc) is NOT provided. You must BYO linen. This is not a luxury hotel — it’s a genuine, old-style workers’ hut, thoughtfully cared for and full of warmth. It’s perfect for couples, solo travellers or anyone wanting to slow down, unplug and enjoy a simple, beautiful country stay. Outside, you share the campground space with our campers, however, campers are not placed close to the hut, there is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy. Ensuring everyone's stay remains peaceful and relaxed. Fall asleep to the sounds of the bush, wake up to birds and open skies, and experience a little piece of farm life at Hedley Hideaways.

The Hedley's main camp was quiet, had plenty of room and all the essential amenities. Amenities were clean but basic so suit down to earth people rather than high brow. I also noticed an unfenced dam so younger kids would need to be kept supervised. Rikki was happy to work with me regards some personal needs. I found it was great and would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a campsite that is quiet and away from it all but also close and central to several tourist destinations from wineries and art too nature.

It was great to have a quiet campsite a good distance from other campers and we appreciated the hot showers. Check with the host and bring your own firepit if required as the host only has a few that can be booked.

We had the best weekend at the main campground. The playground was a real winner for our kids (and for us who got to enjoy some quiet time while they played!). The grounds and the amenities were absolutely spotless, and the views were lovely. We did the bushwalk up the hill and it was well worth it! The stars at night were spectacular as we sat around the campfire. Loved the convenience of having power and water hookup. We will DEFINITELY be back! Thanks 😊

Just Perfect
Thompson's Stockman Hut
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had the loveliest weekend at Hedleys Hideaways for my birthday and honestly, I didn’t want to leave! The place is absolutely beautiful. It’s peaceful, private and surrounded by the most gorgeous countryside. We spent the weekend relaxing, enjoying the sunshine, sitting by the dam and just taking in how beautiful the property is. The little cottage has so much character and charm and was really cosy and comfortable. The whole place just has such a relaxed, homely feel to it. The recommendations for things to do locally were also spot on. We visited a couple of the suggested wineries, checked out the local distillery and found a beautiful little café — all great choices and made exploring the area so easy. It was exactly what I needed for a birthday getaway — no rushing around, just peace, quiet and quality time. Thank you so much to Hedleys Hideaways for having us. We had such a great weekend and will definitely be back! ❤️ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommend!

Very lovely spot with an amazing sky of stars! Unfortunately the creek wasn’t flowing for us but it’d be beautiful after some good rain. Was a busy weekend at the main campground but we could barely hear anything from the creek spot. Amenities were useful and only a couple minute walk. Had a wonderful time with friends!

We were the only group on site this weekend probably due to the cold weather. Nonetheless had a fantastic time. Nikki and her family were welcoming and had firewood ready before we arrived. Amenities are clean and the campsite was ready peaceful. Would highly recommend!

If you need a getaway this is the place to stay! Stayed in the stock man’s hut, a great vibe & warmly feeling… very cleaned & well looked after. Beautiful scenery and such a tranquil atmosphere! Would definitely book again 💜

We had a wonderful, peaceful weekend at Hedleys Hideaway camped down by the creek. We loved sitting around a campfire and waking to the birds in the morning. The property is well kept and the facilitys at the main campground looked amazing, we didn't need them as we are self contained but it was great to be able to connect to some wifi to help with planning our stay. Thank you to Rikki for sharing your beautiful farm with visitors!

The property is perfect for an overnight stay or days on end to relax and unwind. The bush walk on the property is nothing short of unbelievable…… what a view. Toilets and showers are clean. Fire pits available to borrow. Highly recommend. I’ll be back.

We had a great weekend at this beautiful camp. We had a perfect spot between the hut and the amenities for our tent accommodation. Numerous power sockets around the campground as well as plenty of fire pits to use. The amenities were very clean and the playground equipment was loved by the kids. Highly recommend.

Thompson's Stockman Hut
This hut was a great spot for a couple to join in with a group camp for someone that’s not a fan of camping. The hut has cooking facilities, a very comfortable bed, an electric fire as well as air conditioning and a great ensuite out the back with an amazing shower that some 5 star hotels could learn from. Seats on the balcony received a lot of use as well as the shade during the day for the whole group camp to gather under. The only thing to further improve the hut experience would be a bbq out on the verandah but other than, what an amazing stay.

We’ve just completed a group family/friends long weekend camp at Hedley’s. What a great place and setup. We had the whole top camp area to ourselves, excluding the amenities and playground which was also used by the creek campers. Highly recommend.

A serene and picturesque location with a true country feel. The amenities and facilities were perfect. A wonderful place to escape whilst only being 30 minutes from home for us. We were greeted warmly by Rikki and her Family. We are already checking our calendar for our next visit.

loved our weekend of peace and quiet. Rikki was an excellent host. Large flat area down by the creek with a wonderful star show in the evening. We had a good walk across the creek and up to the top, almost the top, of the mountain. Main amenity block great. Nice drive over to Broke village. Next time we will pop over to Wollombi or Pokolbin.
