Located next to the River Culm, the campsite is almost completely surrounded by water. On site is composting toilets and river showers. It’s just outside a Devonshire village with pubs (the Stoke Canon Inn and the Agricultural Inn across the river), a village shop and bus route to the local historical town and city.

Pop-up site on the banks of the Culm river in Stoke Canon A 10-minute drive to central Exeter or Devon Railway Centre River beach for wild swims; village pub and shop a short walk away As settings for a Devon outdoor break go, this is one that’s really got it all going on… starting with an easy-to-get-to location a little way off the A396 and a few miles from the M5 (no need to pick your way along little winding lanes to find this place…) The Devon Tipi Company’s pop-up site is in the village of Stoke Canon, a handy few minutes’ walk from the village pub, shop and bus stop (for frequent services to Tiverton, 10 miles away, or Exeter city centre, four miles away). That means you can easily mix up village life with urban outings without even needing to get in the car (or find parking at the other end). And despite all of this convenience, this spot is a thoroughly rural one, close to miles of lovely footpaths running through the surrounding countryside and along the banks of the nearby rivers Exe and Culm. In fact, the Culm runs right next to the site, which has a beach area where you can access the water for a post-hike paddle or swim. Yep, it’s a lovely location indeed – and one that the owners are keen to preserve in the best way possible. To that end, they’ve set the place up as an eco-friendly off-grid option with simple minimal-impact facilities like compost toilets and hot showers that use filtered river water. To help you soak up the rural atmosphere you’ll be allowed to bring a barbecue for outdoor meals and start up a campfire to keep you warm while you stargaze. There's an excellent farm shop five minutes' drive away for barbecue bits and other foodie treats.
