L Ampeter · 10 units · Tents, Motorhomes
We are a small, peaceful. secluded campsite bordered by woodland and a stream, set amidst the wildlife country of the Ceredigion countryside on the edge of the Cambrian mountains. With only 20 camping pitches (7 with hard standing) and 'The Bothy' shepherd's hut, Teifi Meadows is a place to relax, unwind and appreciate the calming beauty of nature. This is a dark sky zone with stunning celestial views on clear nights, and near-zero light pollution as well as pristine air and water quality. Our guests tend to appreciate the quiet stillness here and we don't have a lot of disturbances...so all you will hear is the wind, the birds, the rushing streams and perhaps the odd cow! :) Everyone, even the cynical, should have a little romance in their lives. Especially if it includes a scenic setting with easy access to local pubs (a holiday extra that thaws the icy hearts of the cynical even more than blazing sunsets). Teifi Meadows should warm the battery of your camera as well as the cockles of your heart: this is wildlife country – look out for red kites overhead – in the midst of the greenery of the Ceredigion countryside, and close to the walks, dolphin spotting and beaches of the stunning west coast and Cardigan Bay. National Trust sites, River Teifi fishing and canoeing, mountain pony trekking, Roman gold mines and blooming great gardens are in the area too. Lampeter, about three miles away, has plenty of food shops, independent stores and a farmers’ market, and the pub at Cellan, also three miles away, serves food and Sunday lunches - another romantic highlight…

Wild camping at Emmetts on Exmoor

Minehead, England · 4 units
Emmetts on Exmoor is part of the highest farm on the moor, up at an altitude of 1250 feet with gorgeous views out over the surrounding scenery of the national park. You won't find a better place for spotting wildlife right from your tent! Red deer herds regularly frequent the moor which is opposite your pitch. Other wildlife in the area include cuckoos, woodpeckers, golden plovers, foxes and much more! This is a place that’s big on space but small on guest numbers (just four pitches which are not visible from one another), so there’s always plenty of space around to soak up the rural atmosphere, spot wildlife and play games. The site is unmanned so make sure you have all the info you need before setting off and it’s worth noting that Exmoor National Park was designated Europe’s first Dark Sky Reserve back in 2011, so you should hopefully be in for spectacular displays of stars by night too. Unsurprisingly, this is a great area for walks and mountain bike rides; other activities in the area include things like fishing, sailing and pony trekking. If you’ve still got any energy left after that little lot, the farm’s all-weather tennis court is available to hire for a game or two. There is a proper shower and loo available next to the car parking area and all pitches are approximately a 500 metre walk away from this area through woodland and across pasture. Remember the site is off-grid so it’s a good idea to remember to bring along a torch. Guests are welcome to bring along a barbecue or hire a firepit and purchase wood onsite. Simonsbath (5 minutes) has a pub and a tearoom and Exford and Withypool (both within 15 minutes) have good village shops for picking up any other supplies you might need. The Poltimore Arms and The Exmoor Forest Inn are two very local pubs that are well worth a visit.

Landsker Camping is a family-friendly woodland campsite, at Canaston Bridge, Pembrokeshire. As well as a lovely setting in roughly 10 acres of young woodland, it is ideally located for discovering Pembrokeshire and just a 10 minutes drive from big attractions like Picton Castle Gardens, Wild Lakes Wales and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo. With views over peaceful countryside, the generously sized, flat grass pitches are sheltered by trees and spaced out for extra privacy (they’re also dotted by wild flowers in spring). You’re welcome to explore the woods, and let the children splash around in the stream. The campsite is certified by the Greener Camping Club. Spectacular beaches including Tenby, Saundersfoot and Amroth are just a 20 minute drive away.
