Five private camping pitches on an organic farm in the Teifi Valley

The campsite at Nantgwynfaen Organic Farm is no ordinary campsite. And although you might say that about every Hipcamp, this one particularly stands out for its boutique approach to camping. There are just five pitches here and instead of clustering tents and campervans together, they occupy separate parts of the farm. Each pitch has something different to recommend it, from sunset views to a pretty garden location but all are campfire friendly and spacious. And all are in the rural surrounds of the Teifi Valley, not far from the sandy beaches of Cardigan Bay.

The creatively-named pitches are the work of Amanda and Ken who have lived at Nantgwynfaen for upwards of 25 years. Choose the secluded, hilltop Sun of a Pitch if you want to cook some of their organic sausages on your campfire while watching the sun go down. Book Love at first Site (geddit?) or Pitch Perfect if you’re coming in a campervan. Three of the five pitches have their own toilet and outdoor shower. The others share a rustic but lovely set of facilities in the farmyard. Nearby, there’s a games room and a farm shop selling organic, sustainable goodies too. These are shared with the guests of other accommodation at Nantgwynfaen which includes the retro-chic Glamavan, which you'll find listed separately on Hipcamp. There are also two cabins, Ty Mamgu and Ty Nodyn, and self catering rooms in the farmhouse (Y Parlwr Bach and The Room at The Top – all bookable elsewhere).

Nantgwynfaen Farm has been steadily gaining five-star reviews for years from couples and families who appreciate the sustainability and seclusion of the place. If those things appeal to you then you’ll love this campsite too. There are 60 acres of pleasant and peaceful farmland which is rich in wildlife and well looked after. Beyond the bounds of the farm, there’s lovely walking and on the banks of the Teifi with the Ceredigion coast a 25-minute drive away. Head for seaside New Quay, Aberaeron or Llangrannog then return to your peaceful pitch for evenings under the stars.

Sun of a Pitch Camp on the hilltop with views over the valley. An ideal place to enjoy a campfire sunset overlooking a stream with ancient trees and buzzards at eye-level. A place to be in the moment, to breathe the fresh air, whilst savouring the view which drops away to the River Teifi and the hills in the distance. A very peaceful secluded elongated pitch (5mx15m), with fantastic views suitable for a medium size tent or two small tents. With no camping neighbours within view it is west-facing to make the most of the evening sunset at its best. It overlooks a dramatic steep valley, with buzzards and red kites swooping at eye-level. Perched at the top of a wild meadow there is just the abundant wildlife and birds to watch. There is a fire bowl on the pitch and the farm gate at the entrance helps to contain pets and children (but please note the other side is completely open to the valley). This pitch has a private flushing toilet a short walk away (approx. 100m). Nearby there is a cool outdoor shower (with warm water) with canvas and hedge walls and a washing up sink, both private to this pitch only. Car parking is nearby (you can unload at the gate (please do not drive onto the pitch) and park in the carpark opposite. There are walks in all directions. Please note, the bell tent in the photo is not included – so don’t forget to bring a tent with you (Max 5M wide). Note there is a steep slope adjacent to the pitch. ConTENTed is is a circular garden pitch suitable for a small tent, surrounded by shrubbery and a hedge with views over the pink geraniums to the West. Ideally placed for additional guests staying in the Glamavan and Sun of a Pitch. Unit Text ConTENTed is the smallest pitch at Nantgwynfaen, but its elevated westerly facing position makes it a bright and ideal pitch for 1 or 2 guests. It feels intimate and private, surrounded by garden shrubs and hedges, but there is surprisingly enough space for a medium tent. Please note that if you would like a campfire too, it will be only be possible if your tent is smaller - due to space constraints (3m distance must be maintained between tent and fire). Please call us if you are concerned about this. Please note that it is not possible to have the car adjacent to the pitch. It can be parked a short distance away in the main carpark. Tent pitch · Sleeps 6
Do you fancy some Wildish Camping? Then this pitch which is called "I Got 99 Problems But a Pitch Ain’t One" could be just what you are looking for: Called "The 99" for short, enjoy WILDISH camping in a peaceful valley. This pitch is away from it all, the only pitch in a green and quiet valley it will be just you and the sheep. There is drinking water, a fire pit, with a boot camp shower and eco toilet (so it's not that wild then). The Pitch is a 10 min walk up hill to the farm, but don't worry, we can transport your gear in the quad bike. Get away from it all on this private wild(ish) camping pitch in the picturesque valley beside a stream. A very large area with drinking water, a private boot-camp outdoor shower and an eco toilet – a picture-perfect pitch just for you (and the sheep). Sit under the stars by the fire pit and listen to the owls. It’s a place to switch off and be immersed in nature, how wonderful to be awakened by the dawn chorus. The 99 is remote, but not too far away – just a 10 minute walk uphill to the farmyard and car park. All gear can be taken down (and up again) on the quad bike. Please note, your car must be left in the car park – you are not permitted to take it to the pitch (even 4WD). Nantgwynfaen Organic Farm is a working farm set in beautiful West Wales. Here is a place where you can experience peace and tranquillity – unwind surrounded by green fields, with wonderful views. There is birdsong all day and a dark sky at night to observe unpolluted heavens. Just a short drive will take you to the dramatic coast of Cardigan Bay with its magnificent sandy beaches, the coastal path and Bottlenose Dolphins. Drink at local microbreweries, eat wood-fired pizzas, walk to the gin distillery and cheesemaker. The farm itself prides itself on its green credentials and award-winning accommodation. There is a games barn with table tennis and pool table – a refuge from the elements, and a cool space when it is sunny. The farm shop is stocked with local organic produce and homemade bread to order. Picture yourself gathered around a campfire on a warm summers evening surrounded by ancient ash trees. Look up and watch the swallows, red kites, buzzards and later on the bats and owls. With just the scent of roses and honeysuckle and wood smoke what more could you want. Isn’t it every campers dream to find such a place where you can be alone in a secluded glade with only your friends and family? Walks from the doorstep around the lush 60-acre farm, climb Mary’s hill, find the dingly dell, pooh corner and the sound of music trees and help collect the eggs. Here you can experience the same benefits as the campers, but enjoy the luxury of your own home in a vintage-style retro-chic static caravan. Or in the little apartment, Y Parlwr Bach in the farmhouse. At Nantgwynfaen there is something for everyone.
