It has a strict no noise policy after 10pm, meaning that you should get a peaceful night's sleep too. This site is in the grounds of the 400-year-old Stretton House surrounded by the Cheshire countryside with handy transport links nearby and outdoor activities in no short supply… that includes things like alpaca walking, golf or Manley Mere’s watersports haven (a 20-minute drive away for the latter). Our beautiful home is a glamping and camping site with its own gorgeous fishing lake on the outskirts of the village of Llandyfan. You can find us to the west of the Brecon Beacons or Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Llandyfan Campsite has been lovingly re-established in early 2024 by Andy and Jo. Since taking ownership, we have rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into restoring it to its former glory and will soon be back to being a fully operational slice of Welsh heaven. Our first focus has been the fishing lake which we opened in March. The campsite followed in May. We are currently working on electric hook ups and other improvements. We have chickens on site that roam free during the day. They are friendly and like to wander around the tents to say hello to our guests! We would like everyone who visits to have a great time and a relaxing break. Whilst here please be considerate towards others, to their property, and while using the facilities. If you have any concerns, please let us know. We have brought out a few rules from our T&Cs and we kindly ask that you have a read through before your stay. Litter: You must pick up your litter. Please either take it with you or recycle it appropriately in the bins onsite. There are bins around the campsite, please recycle where possible. Pitches to be left as you found them. Noise: Be respectful and consider your neighbours. Keep noise to a minimum after 10pm and before 8am in the morning. No loud music is to be played at any time. Children: Children must be supervised at all times around the campsite and can play within the pitch space allocated to you. At quiet times, it may be possible for children to use vacant pitches for play but this cannot be guaranteed. The amenity block and associated facilities are not to be used as a play area. Dogs: Must not to be left unattended. Are to be kept on leads at all times whilst on the campsite. 2 nights at Panpwnton Campsite

We have just come back from a campervan 2 night trip to Panpwnton Campsite. We had a lovely time, it was very quiet as we were the only ones staying…. Probably due to the weather! This meant we got a great spot right next to the river which was perfect. The facilities were good. The location was great. We did a walk straight from the site on to part of Offa Dykes path and along to the Knuclas viaduct, great views along the way. We had thought we might get the train back just for fun, but they don’t run very often (would have been a 2hr wait) so walked back instead. Site also easy walking distance to the local pub for an evening meal which was good too. Very Dark walk back that evening meant for some great star gazing:-)

Despite storm Amy, we had a decent stay. Although not needed, the Facilities were very good. Toilet blocks, shower block & chemical toilet waste disposal too. Paul was helpful when called upon for directions and a mini rescue due to downpour.

Panpwnton Farm is a lovely campsite. Very clean toilets and wash up facilities. I didn't use the showers as I only stayed a couple of nights, however they were spacious. I will definitely be returning for a longer stay. It's a lovely walk from the campsite to Knighton, alongside the river. Trains do pass right along the side of the site but it didn't bother me or my dog. Easy access to Offa's Dyke.

Where to go

Morfa Harlech & Morfa Dyffryn

Exquisite shoreline beckons all around Harlech along the east side of Tremadog Bay, headlined by Morfa Harlech NNR’s tremendous wildlife-rich dune systems and Morfa Dyffryn’s vast sands. A skyline featuring Snowdonia’s summits and the Llyn’s sand-flanked coast edges the miles of paradisiacal beach, making for a delightful place to pitch. Try tenting up on Shell Island, north of Morfa Dyffryn, among Europe’s biggest campsites: it boasts a brilliant 300 allocated acres of camping on grass-topped dunes.

Llyn Peninsula

The green, low-lying Llyn Peninsula and its AONB spread invitingly west from just north of Harlech. It’s a tranquil finger of land extending some 30 miles into the sea. Many of North Wales’ best beaches are here, as is good surfing at Abersoch and Porth Neigwl. Walking is wonderful too, with the Wales Coast Path skirting the shore. Excellent campsites are scattered across the Llyn: the coast between Porthmadog and Criccieth and the southwestern tip of the peninsula are particularly good.

The Rhinogydd Range

The Rhinogydd are fabulous Snowdonia mountains east of Harlech that constitute some of the roughest hill country south of the Scottish Highlands. Propped up by peaks such as the 2,480-foot Y Lethr, Rhinog Fawr, and Rhinog Fach, the wild ridge is traversed by the Cambrian Way. Several campsites hog the lower ground along the rivers churning off the uplands.

When to go

If you’re coast-bound, any time from April through to September can offer glorious weather, but always be prepared for the likelihood of relentless rain and strong winds. May to October offers the best hiking weather up in the mountains—this is the time when there is the least likelihood of snow cover on the trails. If you’re a surfer, November through April is the season for the big waves on the Llyn Peninsula.
