The space
Waunbayvil camping is set in its own secluded spot on 40 acres of private wildland and woodlands in the Pembrokeshire national Park, with a pond and views of the stunning landscape. It is the perfect getaway, a place to re-connect with nature and your loved ones in the most peaceful place away from it all. This is not a big campsite with lots of other people, you can book the whole campsite for a private group, or otherwise, only 2 or 3 families very spread out at a time.
The pitches are set out with plenty of space in between. There is parking for cars or campervans, and the camping area itself is not accessible for vehicles, making it a lovely car free space with nothing but nature all around you. You will need to carry tents and equipment up to the camping area., only around 100m from the parking area. (We have a wheel barrow for you to use)We also have a small hard standing area for campervan.
There is a compost loo, a washing up area, and an off grid shower shack. It is set in the most beautiful surroundings, teaming with wild life and filled with wild orchids and many different species of grasses and wildflowers. It is unique and a treat for people who love natural habitat. The sea is about two miles away where there are spectacular cliff walks for many miles on the Pembrokeshire coast path, and beautiful beaches for swimming.
Bring logs and kindling with you. (Can be bought from any garage)
If you bring a cool box we can top you up with frozen ice packs. Just ask.

Our site is in the far northwest corner of Wales UK, on the wild coastal edge of the Llŷn Peninsula, or Penllŷn in Welsh. We are surrounded by sea and look across to the mountains of Eryri / Snowdonia.
The camping area is part of our private property where we live and work, along with our dog. We are restoring our land to a wildflower meadow and other nature friendly habitat, but allowing use of one field for seasonal camping and occasionally larger gatherings.
We are in an ideal spot for cyclists and walkers exploring the coast of Wales (we are a short diversion from the national coast path). Low carbon travellers are welcome, with Pwllheli train station about 5 miles away and we are also on the main Pwllheli to Aberdaron bus route. We can accommodate a limited number of vehicles including camper vans and smaller motor homes (please check size with us first to ensure your motorhome is not too wide for our track).
The field is accessed by a good quality track which bypasses the house and garden and goes direct into the field. So we can accommodate cars, tents and camper vehicles, however larger vehicles may struggle with the initial access to our priority which is narrow, so please contact us first to check this out with us. There is an outdoor tap for water by the house and a composting ‘eco’ loo in the camping field. In the near future we will be installing a water supply in the camping area. We can also provide a bbq/ fire pit but ask that you source your own fuel.
Exclusive whole site group bookings are possible.
**new for 2024 : we have a family size bell tent and a large teepee available for hire, fully set up for you, with or without bedding. please send us an enquiry in advance**
There is a wealth of wonderful footpaths, interesting landmarks and fantastic beaches in the nearby area. The villages of Abersoch and Llanbedrog are nearby with a choice of pubs and eateries, Pwllheli has a range of larger shops. Local eggs and other produce can be bought locally too, and there is both a farm shop and village post office/general store. We can help you with finding what you need.
We will be nearby at the house to offer assistance so we also ask that you are considerate and also respect our privacy, minimise noise, keep gates closed and access clear.

What a beautiful place to camp. This was my first time camping and we picked such a lovely place to experience it for the first time. Mark was very welcoming and really helpful. We had a few choices of where we could pitch our tent which was nice. We were very lucky with the weather as well. Beautiful views for a sunset & sunrise.
We enjoyed waking up to peace & quiet (minus the farm animals which we were quite content with ☺️)
There is a shower room & toilet which is ideal after a days hiking! We would recommend Marks farm to friends & family and would camp there again.

I loved the Boy John. There was so much attention to detail in everything on board. Very comfortable bed and plenty of lighting. Also clear instructions around the site, regarding water, showers, toilets etc. All facilities very clean. Nothing compares to having your own little bit of coastline !!

Another wonderful trip to this site. This was our second trip here in a few weeks. It is very handy for Colwyn Bay and Llandudno. The site itself is peaceful, the facilities are well maintained and the hosts are very friendly.
We had another couple of fun nights with a campfire roaring and loads of safe space for the kids to run around and play.

I absolutely loved staying at Menter Y Felin Uchaf camping site over the recent August Bank Holiday. The site is characterful with beautiful views. I particularly enjoyed the tranquillity of the site which made for a truly relaxing break.
I happened to be staying when a storytelling evening took place and this was a highlight of my stay.

The meadow camping at Menter Y Felin Uchaf is brilliant. Each small pitch is cut into high sweeping meadowgrasses. Meaning you can just about see the neighbours but are pretty well secluded.
NIce communal firepit with solar lighting. ( firewood and kindling available)
Dark Skies !! almost no light pollution saw the milky way very clearly.
Good location for end of the Llyn beaches or walks

Loved Pitch 4. We had two small tents and we still had plenty of space. We had the benefit of getting a shade from the hedge behind our tent. Overall, a great experience at Felin Uchaf. We had the perfect weather for the weekend. Facilities such as toilets and hot showers were great. Plenty of things to do around the area, cafe, beaches, and beautiful sunsets. Highly recommend this campsite!

The hosts are wonderfully welcoming, and our children loved being here as much as we did.
We spent every evening enjoying the campfire.
We were reccomended a lovely walk up the hill where the sunset was beautiful.

I can’t adequately express how wonderful our stay with Callie and Gwyn was. The camping meadow was serene with picturesque views of the sea and surrounding hills. The camping amenities such as toilets and showers were immaculately clean and which was welcome after a long day of hiking. There is also a bonus of a converted barn with fridge/freezer, games, and shelter from rain if needed. Perhaps most notable about this stay were the fantastic chats we had with the hosts who were keen to share their love for the local area with handy tips and hints. This will be perhaps the first campsite we definitely will return to. Thank you both for such a fantastic stay, we can’t wait to return!

We had so much fun at this campsite! The host was friendly, communicated with us clearly and promptly, and was so helpful with all of our (possibly silly) questions. We opted in for some extra firewood on the night, which was an amazing way to spend a starry night on the Welsh coast. The pitches were perfect, just the right size, and decently spread out from others as well, so you had some privacy. The site is away from the mainroads, so feels cozy and hidden away, but is also right next to Abersoch (within walking distance) and just a short drive from the more urban Pwllheli.
All in all a wonderful trip. We plan on doing it again next year, and will definitely be using this site again. Couldn't recommend enough!

Very friendly host, lots of space and privacy. Lots of animals too and great location for exploring west of wales including new quay.
Would recommend for anyone wanting to wildcamp but wants certain amenities (shower, toilet and water) on hand.

This is a special place.
The people behind this site and the Felin Uchaf centre have worked hard to create a place of calm, friendliness, community, and beauty. Not only is the camping ground exactly what you need, with easily accessible facilities and communal spaces, there is also a real attention to ecological detail. Wildflowers, blackberries, thistles and more surround you in the peace and quiet.
The centre and all of the associated buildings are magnificent. True embodiments of culture and care, gorgeous to be inside and walk around. The garden, growing chard, sweet peas, garlic, onions, kale, and more is beautiful and the ducks are a lot of fun to watch. If you do stay here, please walk the nature trails that criss-cross the site, because you might come across some hidden gems like a trio of tree-built swings or an observatory beautifully decorated to mark the passing of the months.
