Tŷ Llewelyn is a small, off grid glamping and camping site on our family farm near Llanidloes in Powys, Mid Wales. We have 15 acres of meadow and woodland with private access to a small river. Great for families and couples who like simple, quiet stays close to nature.
We offer off grid camping pitches and simple glamping on our farm. Stays here are low impact, with space to switch off properly for a few days.
Set within 15 acres the pitches and glamping units are very well spaced out so it never feels crowded.
ŷ Llewelyn is situated, just outside Llanidloes in Powys, Wales. Within the Cambrian Mountains, just 15 minutes from The Hafren Forest and Clewedog Dam and a scenic 35 minute drive from The Elan Valley we are the perfect central location to explore from. So many walking and cycling routes to enjoy then come back to a stunning, off grid base at the end of the day.
What to expect from an off grid stay
Stays here are better for people who enjoy campfires, stargazing and birdsong rather than bright lights or on site entertainment. Power and lighting are limited, so you will want to bring warm layers and a torch, and be happy with simple facilities. In return you get peace, space and time outdoors in Mid Wales.
The great thing about holidaying in Mid Wales is that you are central to everything. Fancy a beach day? no problem, we're just over half an hour away from the University town of Aberystwyth. Here you can take in the breath taking scenery of the coastal path or just enjoy lazy days on the beach. On the way to the coast you could stop off at Bwlch nant yr arian, and don't forget your bike!! With so many trails heading out into the spectacular scenery of the Cambrian Mountains you would have to come back for another stay to get through them.

Guests to Rhos y Gallt describe the campsite as a little gem of a site - small, quite and tranquil with wonderful sunsets. The site can accommodate up to 5 caravans and 10 tents situated on a level 2 acre site within the beautiful rolling hills of Montgomeryshire in Mid Wales.
There are hard standing pitches with electric hook-up as well as grass pitches with and without electric hook-up. There is also a field bordering a river which is used for wild camping - but you'll have to share it with the sheep!
The toilet block has a family wet room with shower, toilet, wash hand basin and baby changing unit, a separate toilet, shower and kitchen area with freezer.
The site borders a river meadow where visitors can wonder down and take a walk down with the river bank, relax by the water edge, throw a few skimmers, do a spot of fishing or even go wild water swimming (at your own risk!).
Well behaved dogs are welcome (maximum 2 per unit).
We were delighted to receive a nomination for The Camping and Caravanning Club Best Hideaway Site in 2021 and grateful to our wonderful guests for the nomination.

With adventurous walks and tranquil nature trails. A Red Kite nature sanctuary with a rescue centre nearby the birds circle overhead daily. Sheep and wildlife adorn the fields and hills and wonderful sunsets finish the day around the camp fire. The ideal location to relax and unwind.

The location is beautiful with stunning sunset!
I really like that every tent spot is far enough from the other so we have privacy. Also the fact that every spot has been levelled and with a fire pit is amazing!
We spent the summer solstice there and we had a delightful time!

We have just had 3 nights at Aber Campsite and have had a very enjoyable stay.
The basics are there ( Toilets, shower and washing up station ) all clean and well kept.
There are a small amount of pitches, all nicely spaced out. Some with hookup and some without but all have a raised platform to put firepits on.
It is a nice small site so doesn't feel busy, and Andre the owner is very helpful and informative.
We used it as a base to cycle up into Arian forest for the bike trails ,only a mile up the back lane.
Cons
Only noise from the A road down the valley till 11ish and the sheep , so not a totally quiet place, but it's background noise really.
If in a vehicle take levellers as slight slope

Located in rural wales, Glynmarch farm is an incredibly scenic and peaceful place to stay. The medative quietness invited calmness to our experience, the only noise for miles around were from the sheep in distant fields and bird song which added to the aura of nature.
The farm also offers a barn as a social hangout, with a fire bit to enjoy the nights and solar fairylights which turn off around 11, to help add a cosy feeling to the stone building.
The hosts are very friendly and always willing to lend a hand when needed
The land our tent was pitched on was well taken care of with floral design of wild flowers adding a lively touch to the field
Will definitely be staying again ♡

A lovely site with all the amenities you could need, showers, toilets, communal kitchen/bbq area, hookup and water.
Lovely hosts with a peaceful site, on our last morning our host made a lovely full English for us which was brilliant! Everything we needed they accommodated for (we forgot our gas tube and they let us borrow theirs too).
A truly lovely place, will be returning.

I may have found my favourite camping spot! Being midweek it was quiet, just as I like it. The site is beautiful, full of wildlife (I saw an otter, a heron and more), and has a relaxing river ambience. There is a train line but I loved hearing the sound of the old rails and the trains were sparse. The breakfast van was open on our last day, fueling us with sausage and egg rolls for our trip home. Lovely friendly owners. I am tempted not to say these things to keep this gem of a site to myself. Thank you.

Absolutely beautiful site! Really well looked after and the stream was so lovely. Very quiet even with other campers. David was a great host, came to check we were all okay and settled. Also, very close to town so wasn’t very far to go if we needed anything but far enough away that it was quiet and peaceful.
Would highly recommend this site and would go back if in the area again.

This campsite was excellent. The facilities were clean and well maintained. I was on a tent pitch, the ground was nice and flat, the grass was well maintained and more importantly the view of the surrounding mountain scape is beautiful and clear! Loved this beautiful campsite amid stunning local surroundings. The river was a bonus during the heatwave! Would recommend a walk to the top of Panpwnton hill too, in the shade of the trees, rewarding you with exceptional views across the valley once you reach the top.
Roxanne was very helpful while being hands-off so we could get on with enjoying our stay.
Even though it was a bank holiday and there were lots of guests, there was plenty of space for our two tents and the campsite was very peaceful and respectful.
The facilities were great and the Offa's treats van was a nice addition, providing us with much needed ice cream and coffee.
Would highly recommend this campsite!

This was my first time camping and what a great place to start! It was quiet, easy to get to, great location, bathrooms and showers were clean. The veiws were great! Loved waking up and seeing sheep in the feild opposite. Great for anyone wanting to explore Aberswyth or the Devils Bridge.
