You will need to drive on a dirt road and over small roots to access the school bus. Cars are able to access the bus without difficulty. Parking at the front of the bus.

One-of-a-kind really only begins to describe 1-acre Sharp's Island! For starters, this is the only legal camping option in the city of Richmond. You read that correctly. This is your own private island, and it's right in the heart of downtown RVA! The Piedmont meets the Coastal Plain right here at Sharp's Island. That makes for amazing fishing, especially during the spring shad and striper runs.
Some other incredible things about camping at Sharp's Island: You can motor up to it from Ancarrow's Landing, canoe over from the trail just below Mayo Bridge, or make this the destination for your downriver raft/kayak trip; at summer river levels there are oodles of great swimming holes along the banks; fire pit ready and waiting for you. Wi-Fi is limited even with Starlink RV system. Guest will have the Wi-Fi password inside the dome upon arrival. T-Mobile, Verizon, and other networks have limited reception so plan ahead as we are an off the grid experience. Disconnecting is part of the adventure!
Each guest will have access to private parking area and wooded walkway, dome, deck area, fire pit, barbeque grill, hammock, and 3-acre pasture with pond.

While staying here, you may use my bathroom in my house if you need. I recommend bringing all the things you would bring if you were camping in the woods far from society. However, I do have a tent for two, including mattress pads and sleeping bags you may use. Otherwise, this is a relatively primative site (for now 😉).

Our stay was a very last minute decision and I feel so fortunate to have found this place in my search. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. We actually booked The Tranquility Cabin, stayed our first night there. It’s really nice with the wood burning stove. We rode the golf cart around, exploring the area and my husband was so interested in the screen houses. Jim and Becky were so accommodating and allowed us to switch the next morning. We spent 2 nights in The Retreat. It is tucked in the woods a little more offering more privacy. The clear roof is so nice, especially at night. Temperatures were pretty cool during our stay but heated mattress pad kept us cozy at night. Both places are great and we had a wonderful experience. The bathhouses are very clean and easily accessible. The Gathering area is so nice, we used the pizza oven, drank hot tea and enjoyed music from the record player. My husband fished a little, played pickleball, basketball and horseshoes. It was such a good experience. We will definitely return and highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Sasquatch Ranch
This place is amazing! The rooms are so cool! The water-pressure divine! You can fish, play games, bbq, pet the goats, eat fresh eggs, and the host provides EVERYTHING you’ll need! We were in town for a funeral, and were too emotionally exhausted to drive 3 hours back home not including traffic. We had nothing with us. We stopped and grabbed some personal toiletries, like toothpaste and brush, some food to cook and we were set. We also recommend seeing & eating at the local sites. Chaddy’s Big Hat is affordable and delicious southern food, and the Cryptozoology & Paranormal Museum.
I highly recommend staying with Dean at Sasquatch Ranch!

We spent two nights at Creekside Cool Bus with two of our young adult children. It was exactly as described. Clean and comfy. We had plenty of space to put up our tent for more sleeping space, had two lovely campfires, walked the gnome creekside path, and explored nearby Pocahontas State Park. The bus had enough kitchenware to prepare simple camping meals. Cam & Chloe were quick to respond to any questions. A fun place to stay!

We had a wonderful time camping as a family with our dogs at Ross’s place! He was kind, attentive, and accommodating, even the regulars who went to the site to find fossils and gold were so kind. Everyone was willing to help us, show us tips and tricks, and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and could enjoy our stay. If you want a unique experience with family and some cool little treasures to take home and remember it by I would highly recommend! If you are close enough I really would recommend even just stopping by there for a day trip even to take part in just the fun experiences they offer!

Absolutely loved my first glamping experience! The Serenity Loft was absolutely beautiful and had everything you could possibly need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The stairs were a little tricky at first, but I got used to them. The property itself was gorgeous and so peaceful—it truly felt like a little getaway from the everyday hustle and bustle.
The host was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, which made the experience even more special. One of my favorite added touches was having a golf cart available to get around the property as needed. It made exploring and enjoying the beautiful surroundings so much easier and more fun!
I would absolutely recommend this experience to all of my family and friends. If you’re looking for a peaceful, beautiful, and memorable getaway, this is definitely the place to stay! I can’t wait to come back!

We had a great stay at this glamping place and would definitely recommend it! We went in the summer, and it was a little too hot, so I’d recommend visiting in the autumn when the weather is likely to be more comfortable. My boyfriend and I loved staying at The Retreat (screened cabin)! Jim and Becky were amazing hosts. The directions and communication were clear from the start. Our space was lovingly put together and very thoughtful. We were a bit worried about how hot we might get during our 2-day/night stay in August, but all the fans, misters, and other battery-powered cooling options kept us nice and cool. So did the paddling pool! The land itself is beautiful and serene. We really enjoyed sitting at the fishing pond at sunset, watching the horses graze, and cooking in the outdoor kitchen. Driving the golf carts around and playing basketball were also highlights of our stay. We can't wait to be back and try a different cabin or tent option next time. Thank you so much for having us!

Maybe be a little careful if parking on 1st St, it's a narrow bumpy road and both of our vehicles got side swiped while parked there over the weekend. Of course this isn't Andy's fault at all, just a heads up that there may be better places to park.
