Off the beaten track on top of the Mendips in an area of outstanding natural beauty. A mixture of four acres of wild woodland, orchard and field set on a hillside.
Our Yurt is set up in the trees giving you peaceful seclusion and a clear view across the sea to Wales and the mountains of the Brecon Beacons. The Yurt is big and sleeps up to four very comfortably. It has its own stove and outside is a washroom just for you with hot shower , toilet and sinks. Your own meadow allows you to just relax and be.
Up on the campfield you can bring your own tent or hire a Belle tent from us with all the fittings to camp contentedly. Our new Wash House has hot showers, flushing toilets and basins. You can light a fire and cook up a BBQ or maybe just watch the world go by.
A huge range of activities are possible or you can lie in the hammock with a good book. We have very friendly dogs and rescue chickens who may come and visit. Wild deer wander past in the early morning mist and the odd buzzard picks an argument with a bunch of crows but nothing much else should disturb you.
We moved here after an 18 month search 8 years ago. It was close to everything we wanted and we've spent some time getting a bit closer.

Owners make the camping sometimes, but the views are breath taking.

Camping at The Batch was a tranquil and relaxing experience for a short get-away over the bank holiday weekend. The area itself is great for anyone wanting to visit surrounding locations (such as Cheddar and Wells), but also for people wanting to unwind amongst some stunning views. The badminton court gave us great entertainment, and in the summer there’s a TON of dragonfly’s by the orchard so we set to the impossible challenge of getting a non blurry photo, but never succeeded. The fire pits made for some great BBQ’s and source of heat while stargazing too!
However, the experience doesn’t stop at just the campsite itself. Tim takes great pride in maintaining the area and assisting everyone in anyway he can. From the offset he offered to help us move our equipment and to give us a tour of all on offer, including some fresh plums from his orchard! During pass by Tim would check in on us and ask how we were and what adventures we went on, but also to offer to help us with anything else we needed.
It’s fair to say the amazing site was taken to the next level from Tim’s great hospitality and super character. I would highly recommend and will definitely set pitch again! Hopefully next time I’ll get some better photos of the dragonfly’s!

This is a place to feel connected to the land and to completely let go of all the pressures of modern living. Jan is passionate about bio diversity and I loved walking up to the yurt, brushing past lavender and sage and wild flowers full of bees and butterflies, picking an apple on the way - and having it for breakfast whilst looking over a most glorious sunrise view from Buzzard Yurt. Then a walk in the woods and chilling in the hammock reading and soaking up the birdsong and the sound of the buzzard up above. At night - lying on the deck looking up at a starry sky and sitting round the fire toasting marshmallows. A truly relaxing and healing few days. Thank you Jan.

Wow, wow, wow.
So we had a fantastic time at Kingfisher Yurt, relaxing under the Oak and Ash trees. Swimming pond was perfect.
Yurt was really comfortable and the kitchen was fab for dining and playing games, We hired the hot tub, which was also lovely.
Jan was a perfect host. We shall be back.

David was a super friendly host and the site was in a beautiful setting. Nothing was too much trouble, and there was plenty of space on the pitches. Location wise, you couldn’t ask for anything better. You could have been in the middle of nowhere, but Wimborne is a 20 minute walk away!

Lovely Stay in the Meadow, very kind and friendly staff, and the fact that they help you move your things up the hill is lovely. Only issue was that the toilets didn’t have loo roll during our stay but we had brought our own anyway so this wasn’t really a problem. The Meadow is lovely but without much shade, so maybe bring something to use for shade if you mind that - fantastic location for kayaking etc, and although we didn’t stay in one as we have a tent the yurts they also have on site looked amazing too 😊

A lovely back to nature campsite in an idyllic location. David and the team offer a warm, friendly and considerate welcome and are on hand for any help or guidance you might need. I was disappointed when we arrived to be told we couldn't drive up to the pitch but instead the team took our gear up to site in a jeep for us. Actually once on our pitch it was a big plus as it meant we never had to worry about vehicles coming on and off site. Toilets and showers are basic and unlit so take a torch and your loo roll. There is a basic hub area with fridge and freezer space and a kettle and a small sheltered outdoor seating area. Firepits and wood available on request - have plenty of water with you just in case!
Wimborne is a delightful 20 minute riverside walk away and a fabulous little town with all the shops and facilities you could wish for.
We'll be back I am sure.

David and Jasper went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care off. The campsite is near town, just a 20 minutes walk along the river. The facilities at the campsite are primitive, but adequate and clean. Loved the hot showers! We stayed in a yurt and that was very comfortable and very well equipped. Our kids (and the other kids at the campsite) spent most of the time in and around the tree with a swing, so nice! They called it the best campsite ever! Hope to come back one day!

Such a peaceful and unspoilt site. Clean, hot showers and beautiful compost loos (yes I said beautiful cos its environmentally friendly) meant our stay had everything we needed. Nick was so helpful and lovely, which made everything simple and easy...with 2 grandchildren under 5, that is incredible!
Timsbury close by with a wonderful cafe, and such a lot to do close by. I really wish I lived there!

We loved our stay at Buzzard Yurt! Jan was super friendly and helpful, and the kids loved the trampoline, the pond, the hot tub, feeding the chickens, picking the eggs and just everything the lovely campsite had to offer. It was such a good break from the bustle of city life and we cannot wait to return. The night skies were delightful with a sky full of stars and hardly any light pollution anywhere near us, and our days were filled with adventure and nature at the camp. Jan's campsite is conveniently located to lots of lovely sights - Beer, Seaton, Lyme Regis. A perfect break!
