Shepherd's huts near Brean

If you're looking for a camping or Glamping Holiday in Brean that's a little different, the Hipcamp collection might have the answer. This seaside destination on the Somerset coast between Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-sea is said to be part of the second longest stretch of sand in Europe. But it's attraction has not gone unnoticed, of course, and it's also home to one of the largest concentrations of caravans on the continent. We tend to steer clear of holiday parks and caravan sites and sometimes that means looking a little further afield. Such is the case in Brean where our camping experts have scoured the Somerset coast and country to bring you camping and glamping sites that meet our exacting standards. These are campsites where the entertainment is more likely to include campfires than cabaret and where caravan accommodation is more likely to mean a gleaming Airstream or gypsy wagon than a caravan with all mod cons. Whether it's a campsite with pitches for your own tents or a super-luxurious glamping site, if it features in the Hipcamp collection it's had the thumbs up from our travel experts and offers something special - all within reach of Brean's beautiful beach.

Things to do on a camping holiday in Brean revolve around the beach. It's one of eight recognised beaches on a single stretch of sand between Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-sea. While it's a popular area, with holiday parks lining the coast, there's usually plenty of space for everyone however you like to enjoy the beach. From swimming to sailing, sun-bathing to sandcastle-building, fishing to dog-walking, this huge stretch of sand can accommodate you. Brean itself is a small village with some big holiday park complexes including theme park rides and a waterpark. There are cafes, takeaways and shops where you can stock up on supplies but for a walk on the wilder side, how about exploring Brean Down at the north end of the beach? It's a 320ft-high headland that juts one-and-a-half miles out into the Bristol Channel. Looked after by the National Trust, there's a ruined Napoleonic Fort and a downland habitat that attracts rare plants and birds. From up on the downs there are far reaching views out to sea, north towards Weston-super-Mare and inland to the countryside, giving a hint of the places you can visit during a stay near Brean.

The Victorian seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare offers classic British seaside fun in a Victorian resort just a few miles up the road. Inland, it's not far to the edge of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which hides both Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge, two of Somerset's best-known natural attractions. England's smallest city, Wells, with its famous cathedral is not much further and Glastonbury, famous for its music festival, myths and legends, is just 20 miles away.

Just south of Weston-super-Mare, the lesser known seaside resort town of Brean has all the seaside fun but on a smaller, quieter scale. Find campsites nearby with our choice pick of the very best places to stay, all chosen by the travel experts at Hipcamp.
