We've gone for ultimate peace and tranquility, with a very limited number of pitches mown into the wildflowers with lots of space between. Our remote site is far from roads or light pollution, making for serene starry nights around the firepit.
The camping meadow is bordered by woodlands, a small nature reserve, and the gardens of a stunning Tudor manor house, all of which you're free to explore.
Nestled in a remote and picturesque corner of West Dorset, the campsite is within easy reach of some of the South West's most stunning spots, from world-famous fossil beaches to neolithic hill-forts.

This was a super last-minute booking, despite knowing that it was going to be pretty wet all weekend. Despite the rain, this was a magical place and my son and I had a special time together. The rain maybe made it even more special.
Anna is lovely and very helpful and their dog spent quite a lot of time with us because he realised we would continue to throw a stick for it until we went to sleep. Which was bliss!

Amazing stay with beautiful views. The tent is equipped with everything you need and beds are comfortable.
The environment is very calm and pizza night really is a success, not only the pizza's are very nice but you get to know the other people staying - amazing if you have kids as they start playing together.
We had an amazing time and would definitely return and recommend the stay.

Bill and Helen are so lovely and accommodating. A very ebullient and energetic couple. They rallied all the campers together on our last night to play volleyball as the site was closing for the season the next day. There’s a volleyball and badminton net in the middle of the field with rackets etc supplied if you just want a fun knock up. There pitch sizes are great are really generously spaced out. Loved the llamas and the fresh hen eggs that Helen left out for grabs one morning.! Couldn’t fault this place. We will be back.

Pros:
- Loads of space to pitch / feels private
- Easy to get to
- Mel (host) was really helpful and welcoming
- Clean and relatively flat site
- We had the fire pit/wood bundle and thought it was well worth the money
- Access to sink & clean water
- Plenty of walks nearby (we did the lacock circular hike on AllTrails which was a short drive away & £5 to park in the nation trust car park all day)
Might bother some people:
- The toilets are porta-loos (they were clean though)
- No shower facilities for longer stays

Lovely big flat field next to a quiet lane with good access. Nice view out to the White Horse on the hill and close enough to a pub :)
We basically had the whole place to ourselves, but there is loads of room.

A wonderful small site with all the facilities you need. Bill made us feel truly welcome. A short walk from the site into the woods and to the river, perfect for the dog to cool off and swim. Some evening noise from Sandy Balls but as explained in the site description. It was handy having those site facilities right next door. We’d definitely return.

It was great. The facilities are really good and the owners are friendly. I would stay again but not on pitch 2 as it's on a hill and our bed was a bit lopsided! The toilets should also just be unisex as I used the men's when it was free and got tutted at even though there was a queue for the women and no men when I went in and the toilets were just toilets not anything like a urinal or like a load of toilets. Just single toilets both exactly the same. Anyway, that's just a detail and overall we had a brilliant time thank you!

We had the best time in the Shepherd's Huts - it's such a magical place to stay, with beautiful views over the fields and even it's own little woodland walk. We spent two nights just us and our son, then my cousins pitched a tent on the third night. It was so peaceful to be surrounded by nature and have the place to ourselves. The huts were beautiful and cosy and the beds were comfy too. There was everything we needed to have a camping experience that felt both wild yet easy and with all that we needed. We loved camping at Bridgewood! The pitches were very well spaced out and it was so quiet, came here to avoid the school holiday business and it was everything we needed. It was our first time with solar showers and compost toilets but definitely not as bad as we thought! We didn’t venture out far but Round Chimneys farm cafe down the road does a great breakfast, and Ninesprings country park about a 20 min drive away was well worth the visit. The campsite itself was beautiful, peaceful, Sarah and Paul were there for anything we needed and the piggies were adorable! Will definitely be coming back to camp again 😊
