Cabins near Exmouth

·

Situated at the mouth of the River Exe and at the gateway to the world-famous Jurassic Coast, Exmouth in South Devon is a fantastic place to pitch up for a holiday. It’s one of South Devon’s oldest and most picturesque towns with two miles of golden sands. Just 11 miles from the city of Exeter, it’s also a relatively easy part of Devon to reach and is said to have been the first holiday resort in the county. It’s little wonder then that there are loads of campsites and caravan parks in and around Exmouth. We steer clear of the large-scale holiday-park style sites and look for places that have individuality and charm. Sometimes these are classic camping sites where you can pitch a tent and enjoy the simpler things in life and sometimes they are glamping sites where you can kick back and relax in relative luxury from the moment you arrive. Often, they are a little further off the beaten track, but we think that’s all part of the charm. Whether you want somewhere to pitch your tent, a place to park up in a campervan or are looking for a bell tent, yurt or shepherd’s hut near Exmouth, our collection should have something to suit you.

From kitesurfing to crazy golf, fossil hunting to cycling, there’s plenty of things to do in and around Exmouth. It’s a large town with all the shops and eateries you could ask for, beyond the longest promenade in Devon. Taking a stroll along the esplanade is almost obligatory during a stay and it’s here that you’ll find ice cream kiosks, amusements and places to jump aboard the town’s land train that can whisk you along the prom and in to town. If you prefer to travel under your own steam you can walk on the well-signposted South West Coast Path or cycle on the Exe Estuary Cycle Trail which links destinations from Exeter to Dawlish. Watersports enthusiasts will be in their element as Exmouth is known as a destination for kitesurfing and wakeboarding.

Nature lovers will be wowed by the opportunity for fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast, which stretches east in to Dorset while winter glamping brings the best birdwatching opportunities as waders and wildfowl flock to the Exmouth Nature Reserve’s tidal mud flats and sandbanks. For more ideas on things to do during a camping or Glamping Holiday in Exmouth, take a look at the Visit South Devon website.

You can find us to the west of the Brecon Beacons or Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Llandyfan Campsite has been lovingly re-established in early 2024 by Andy and Jo. Since taking ownership, we have rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into restoring it to its former glory and will soon be back to being a fully operational slice of Welsh heaven. Our first focus has been the fishing lake which we opened in March. The campsite followed in May. We are currently working on electric hook ups and other improvements. We have chickens on site that roam free during the day. They are friendly and like to wander around the tents to say hello to our guests! We would like everyone who visits to have a great time and a relaxing break. Whilst here please be considerate towards others, to their property, and while using the facilities. If you have any concerns, please let us know. We have brought out a few rules from our T&Cs and we kindly ask that you have a read through before your stay. Litter: You must pick up your litter. The Pods

15. The Pods

101km from Exmouth · 1 unit · Glamping · England
The Pods provide the ideal glamping experience for those wanting a slice of the countryside and a back-to-nature staycation but still with all the amenities of a warm bed, kitchen and shower. The views across the valley from the front of The Pods are stunning - guests will love a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine sat out on the patio taking in the country air and far-reaching views. Sleeping four people in two bedrooms, The Pods are also the ideal location for families and couples to explore the Fosse Way and the Somerset countryside from. The Roman city of Bath and the seaside towns of Western Super Mare and Burnham on Sea are also only a short drive away. The main pod consists of a double bedroom, small lounge, kitchenette and shower room. The kitchenette has a microwave, portable stove top, toaster, kettle and fridge so guests can still cook up a meal if staying in. Wi-Fi is available in the main pod and included during your stay, plus access to a washing machine, ironing board and iron through a private entrance into the downstairs cloakroom of the farmhouse. The second bedroom - the twin - is located in a separate pod, located approx 15 meters away and separated by a path through the trees. It's the perfect solution for children wanting to escape the parents and feel like they're having their own adventure (or is that parents wanting to escape from the kids!) Please note, as the second bedroom pod is a short walk from the main pod, parents should be confident that their children (and they!) will be happy to sleep separately and will enjoy the seclusion of an independent sleeping area. During the winter months, we have converted the outdoor porch of the main pod into an upgraded, insulated dining area equipped with a table and chairs, comfortably accommodating four guests. This addition provides a weatherproof social space, complete with a fully glazed external door to allow you to fully enjoy the surrounding views. Updated photos arriving in Spring 2024. Off-street parking is provided a few meters away from the pods. Please note that the pods are in the curtilage of the owner's country farmhouse.

Happy farmer sitting in a truck in a grassy field

At the mouth of the River Exe in South Devon, not from Exeter city, this vibrant, waterside town makes the most of a location where river meets sea. Water-sports enthusiasts are in their element and the area is particularly good for kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding and sailing. But the coastal footpath and excellent cycling routes and mean outdoorsy types are just as at home on dry land too. The best way to stay, in the humble opinion of the Hipcamp travel experts, is to pitch up for a spot of Exmouth camping or glamping and, as always, they’ve been out and about finding the very best sites for our handpicked selection.
