This peaceful, sheltered site has a special character. The site is the ideal place to unwind with plenty of safe space, a meandering river and friendly atmosphere. It offers 4 acres with facilities, 7 acres of wilderness, shower block, level pitches, picturesque river, children’s playground and has been rated AA 4 star gold pennant. Becky and John both love Cornwall and fell in love with the site as soon as they saw it and it provided the perfect opportunity for a new challenge. Having only recently taken over at Willow Valley in the Summer of 2024, there are always ongoing improvements being made so make sure you keep in touch. Any returning campers will be glad to know we aren’t changing the campsite itself though. Why would we when it is already so perfect!

Farmer Oaks Hut

18. Farmer Oaks Hut

30km from Torpoint · 1 unit
Set among the green countryside of the rural west of Devon, Farmer Oak's Hut is a welcoming glamping site tucked away in the corner of a peaceful field. Swap your car for an old-fashioned apple cart and cart your kit over to this smart shepherd's hut for a peaceful stay in a private enclosed garden. Although the name of the hut is inspired by the protagonist of 'Far from the Madding Crowd' Gabriel Oak, this shepherd's hut in Dippertown near Tavistock and just over the border with Cornwall has a good deal more mod cons than the one in Hardy's novel (there's deliberately no TV or wifi, though – this place was designed for switching off). The hut has an en-suite shower room with your own fluffy towels and a "proper" WC, of course there's a comfy double box-bed with fairy lights and lanterns for you to create a romantic atmosphere. The signature cast iron EVERHOT stove is available for those chillier nights, and for food prep you're covered with a toaster, fridge, microwave and two-ring electric hob and the EVERHOT even has a built in oven - rare for a shepherd hut. There are also outdoor kitchen facilities, with enamel cups and plates as well as pots and pans you can use over the firepit. In the garden, a wooden table, benches and traditional deckchairs are available, and there's a covered area for shade or shelter from the rain. In the field, a short distance from the hut, there's a little store where you can buy homemade jams, chutneys, marmalade and fresh eggs; the owners also can supply you with fresh bread to order and scones for that must-have Devon cream tea. NEWS UPDATE - We now offer a weekly discount. You ca stay for up to 7 nights for discounted price of £385. To get your discount please message us for a discount code before booking online.

Whether you’re planning on darting down to Dartmoor National Park for hikes and the like or exploring sandy beaches and surf hotspots on the Devon coast, you’re going to need somewhere cosy to stay that’s within reach of it all. That’s exactly what you get with the shepherd’s hut at Northcombe Farm, just half an hour’s drive from Dartmoor National Park, 35 minutes from Bude and 40 minutes from Widemouth beach. That’s not all – the shepherd’s hut also has stabling facilities available for one horse, and with three bridleways nearby, there are plenty of options for outings. With two private fishing lakes, you’ll be free to spend the morning fishing for roach and tench if you wish. The river Wolf also runs through the site’s boundaries. It’s likely you’re already aware of the excellent beaches along the south Devon coast, but fab views can also be caught from the ferry or boat trips that operate around the coast. Soak up all that spectacular scenery from the South West Coast Path too, along with splendid seaside towns along the clifftop route. South Devon has three areas designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as a World Heritage Site, a selection of national nature reserves, Sites of Special Scientific Interest, forests, woodlands and parks. They’re all mighty good places to appreciate nature at its finest. Beaworthy (10 minutes’ drive) first, perhaps, for granite tors, standing stones and ancient woodlands? Or Dartmoor’s ponies, stannary towns and peaceful villages?
