Camping is away from the hubbub of this small agroforestry site and we will only have very few people at any one time. This year we can also offer a 6m yurt with a fire. Foraging on site is fine, as are controlled fires. A local conservation area in a valley with a cold water pool are within walking distance. Even at the height of summer this place is a haven because we are on a culdesac road. Nearest neighbours at least 500m away in every direction. Children welcome. The long grasses change from a buttercup speckled yellow in June to a light, sun-scorched green by August. And the trees, hedges and saplings are as inviting to children as any artificial playground. It’s a wonderful place to explore. The Yurt and Lodge here have been fittingly finished to provide the same enchanting feel. Solar-powered fairy lights and lanterns cast their ambient light across the exposed wooden lattice on the inside of each structure, while wood burners and colour-schemed furnishings give a warm and cosy feel. They are, of course, also perfectly practical. Each one sleeps up to five people and are accompanied by a neighbouring cabin with your own private shower and toilet facilities. The mown grass provides children a space to play and also leads you to a communal log cabin that’s home to the main kitchen and dining area. It comes complete with everything you need (including a range cooker) and there’s an outside cooking area with a proper pizza oven and a campfire. Owl Yurt is perhaps the more secluded of the two, with the stream and a line of bushes slightly separating it and involves crossing a tiny bridge to get there, while Pheasant Lodge is closer to the kitchen area. When the sun’s out, it’s all so nice it’s difficult to leave. The raised wooden platforms on which each Yurt and Lodge sits has outdoor furniture where you can sit and enjoy a sun-downer and you can even put your feet up and relax under the guise of ‘supervising the kids’. Enchanting though it may be, there is life beyond the valley (really, there is) and once you drag yourself away you’ll be quick to realise that the coast is the real draw here. It’s a 15-minute drive to the beaches of the south and the charming harbour town of Looe, stacked up along the steep sides of the river valley. From there you can chug out on the ferry to the nature reserve of Looe Island or join the coastal path to wander to neighbouring coves and beaches.

An absolutely beautiful stay on Sara's farm - the kids loved feeding the animals, the yurt was great and the hot tub and sauna were the perfect treat. The farm is surrounded by beautiful beaches too, a wonderful stay.

Weekend Trip to Roehaven Yurt

It would be an understatement to say we absolutely loved this place. We were lucky to have sunny dry weather at the end of August, but even so, we could not have been more enchanted with the place. John and Francine are incredible hosts who have gone out of their way to make this a very special experience. We were cosy and warm from the fire, which we managed to keep going thanks to the helpful instructions book. Having the use of our own outdoor sink, flushing toilet and (excellent) shower felt very luxurious. I could go on and on about the location of the yurt, the peace, the starts, the clean and cosy decor, the kitchen shed, which has absolutely everything you could need, the ice box fridge, bbq, etc but I don’t want to spoil the surprise. Book it and see for yourselves, you will not be disappointed.

4 nights at Rocombe Valley Retreat

Had a really nice time at Rocombe Valley Retreat, Elliot was very welcoming on arrival, the bell tent was great and comfortable. The site was quiet and clean and they had a lot of essentials there ready to use in the shared kitchen, including a fridge/freezer to store food in. Wood fired hot tub was a nice treat to top it off.

4 nights at West Kellow Yurts

The yurt was lovely, although on the small side for our family of 5. The shared kitchen was well equipped, and we very much enjoyed meeting all the other campsite guests. There are a few activities on site, which was really enjoyable for the kids: jeu de boules, darts, football golf and a swing. It's a good location to visit Eden Project, Discovery 42 (hands-on science museum in Bodmin), and beaches.

3 nights at South Penquite Farm Glamping

Fantastic stay, Baby bear yurt was a treat to stay in for the few days I was there & the internal log burner made for warm nights even when the weather wasn’t great. Set amongst stunning terrain & close to major landmarks makes this a great base of operations for exploration.
