Weekend Trip to The Riverside Retreat

This place is perfect. Beautiful views, brilliant and kind host, and gorgeous accommodation. Having the site exclusively to yourself is a real luxury. We felt so relaxed and all the little details are catered for. Campfire, kitchen, BBQ, hot tub, hammock, and even a swing and bird watching binoculars. The gorgeous Bell tent and bathroom are faultless. Thank you Vanessa, for creating such a wonderful little place to step away from real life!

2 nights at The Riverside Retreat

We loved staying at Vanessa’s campsite, she was very welcoming and we had everything that was needed. The location has a great view of the river and is close to many walks around the Forest of Dean. The wood burner keeps the tent nice and toasty at night. There’s a Big Tesco in the town close by just 10 minutes away from Campsite. Bonus points for the hot tub! Vanessa is very friendly and we felt welcomed and cared for straight away while respecting our privacy at the same time. Definitely Recommended!

Weekend Trip to The Nut Plat Retreat

A fantastic cosy, quiet and romantic cabin, perfect for a little weekend getaway. The hosts are super accommodating and responsive but are also very respectful of your privacy. We arrived with both the fireplace inside and the hot tub fire already roaring. A fantastic experience overall would recommend to anyone! And easy enough to access by just public transport if you don't want to drive :))

Weekend Trip to Romantic Country Glamping

Fantastic shepherd's hut. The location was reachable by public transport and walking (train to Trowbridge, X34 bus to Southwick Post Office, 15 min walk) so car isn't essential. The indoor heater made a huge difference, and the provided cake, bread, eggs, jam etc. were amazing and very generous. In reach of some good walks too. Would definitely plan to come here again, really loved it.

Came for a short break away from work and degree stress. Planned to go on some nice walks with the dog but the weather was awful. So ended up staying in by the log burner, reading our books and crochet. I did also manage to get the hot tub HOT ♨️ one day, took a few rounds of restocking the fire but once we got there, it then got so hot I had to add some cold! So worth it! There is good WiFi available so manged to watch a few films in the evening. Might be back for one of my reading weeks when I need minimal distractions! 😂

The site is very peaceful on the banks of the Severn within walking distance of two good pubs that do food. The site is well maintained with easy hookups for our camper and plenty of space between pitches. Picturesque Saul junction is five minutes drive with lots of narrow boats and a decent cafe.

Wild About Campers is a peaceful retreat amid spectacular hiking country in the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and 25 minutes’ drive from cliff-top treks along the South West Coast Path. The Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis is within 25 minutes’ drive, and if you feel a major shopping expedition coming on, the historic cathedral city of Exeter (35 minutes) will see you right. Both Exmoor and Dartmoor national parks are less than an hour’s drive away, while the pretty neighbouring town of Honiton (10 minutes) offers pubs and tearooms as well as antique shops to browse. We live in a secluded idyllic hamlet only 11 miles from the centre of Cardiff. Yr Hen Felin used to be the flour mill serving Dyffryn House and the Estate. Later it became the woodsman’s cottage. The water wheel no longer exists, but the river runs through the property. The five acre site has two beautifully converted horseboxes and a shepherd’s hut with exclusive use of my art room which has a kitchenette, a woodburning stove and table and sofabed. For those who enjoy a more modern experience we have a dwelling with boifold doors on two sides and spectacular views. The 4 self catering accommodations have their own private spaces, barbecues and their own private hot tubs. We also have a small holding with sheep, alpacas, a pig, hens, ducks and fan tail doves.
