FINNISH SAUNA
We light our authentic Finnish sauna on Saturday evenings for all to use. Otherwise you can book the Sauna area for private use on Friday nights and Saturday day. Do give us more than an hours notice, it is wood heated and it takes a while to get hot!
CAMPFIRES
We love campfires and see them as an integral part of the camping experience. Campfires bring people together at the end of the day, to cook, socialise and relax. The smell of the wood smoke at twilight and the excitement on the kids faces when the marshmallows come out are bound to set you up for a perfect night away from the city lights! We sell crates of firewood, and hire fire pits for you to use during your stay.
MUSIC
The Lower Fields are for quiet camping. We would like it to be the perfect place for children to sleep and adults to chitchat around the campfires.
On the Upper Field and near the Centre Camp we do allow you to listen and enjoy any music. But please respect your fellow campers! We want everybody to be able to enjoy their weekend without being disturbed. We ask for quiet across the whole site from 11.30pm.
Overall we are quite a sociable site, with things happening at center camp every weekend. and a public campfire to sit around for a few mins after your sauna. We have a great area for large family groups. We pride ourselves on helping new campers get the most out of the experience come and hay hello at center camp.

Imagine stepping back in time to a former World War II gun battery site, built in 1941 as a defense against a possible German invasion. Purchased by my father John Button in 2009, our family has spent the last 15 years restoring the site to its former glory. We've unearthed the gun battery and Nissan huts bases, gained access to the underground plotting room, dressing station, and ammunition bunker. The journey has been exhilarating, and we've created a museum that's open for visitors most weekends. Come and witness history come to life!
Looking for a hidden gem on the south coast? Look no further than Capel Battery! Perched on top of the iconic White Cliffs of Dover, this spot boasts stunning views and is conveniently located between vibrant Folkestone (just a 5-minute drive away) and historic Dover (only 15 minutes by car). LOVED this stay. If your little one has sensitive ears you may need ear plugs/defenders as the aircrafts are rather loud. But over all, I loved this trip. Maybe need to take your own headlamp/torch as bathroom lamps were temperamental. Staff were amazing, everything well equipped. Would definitely recommend.

Peaceful campsite with spacious pitches. Beautiful skies at night, birds singing in the morning, fire pits with grills supplied, clean showers and flushing toilets. The walk to the pub was lovely and the roast there was incredible.

Love Daisy Mays. The staff are polite and helpful. The vibe is relaxed and the site is generally clean and well maintained.
The only thing that could do with attention are the toilets. They are basic (which is ok, no-one is expecting luxury) but they could do with being checked by staff more regularly. The bins were always full and the locks on the doors were a nightmare.

A beautiful gem. Easily accessible from the train station if you don’t fear a 30min walk. Had the lower field all to myself, but a 5min walk to the amazing sauna and toilets. The hosts were so welcoming (felt like spending time with family!) and guests very nice and considerate of others. You could easily mingle or have some time secluded depending on what you’re looking for. I’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful campsite with enough of a wild feel to feel remote, yet enough facilities that you feel comfortable. There’s a sauna! A nice hot sauna done properly, not like one in a gym. Wow, the sauna was lovely.
Great green views across the hills.
There was a nice lively atmosphere in the top field, and plenty of space if you fancied a quieter evening further down. A little pop up shop for essentials by the entrance, and the warmest campsite welcome from Heath and Katja.
We slept well after our sauna!

We had a fantastic weekend break at Sunnyside! Heath and Katja were very welcoming and helpful and it felt like they are building a lovely community at the site, respectful of the nature and of everyone’s experience. Very family-friendly feel, and the Finnish sauna was a great bonus too!

Just got back from a lovely night at Sunnyside Pop-Up Camping with my 2-year-old daughter and couldn’t be happier. It’s a beautiful, peaceful spot – surrounded by nature and mainly families, which gave it a really relaxed, safe atmosphere. The hosts were fantastic – friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. A perfect little escape, especially with young kids. Highly recommended!

My family had a great time camping at daisy May's farm, this was our first visit and our first time camping. We loved that we could pitch up where we wanted and the fact there was proper toilets and a shower.
the staff were all so lovely, they really engaged with the children particularly the young girl with the horses who kept them occupied for hours and hours. I saw another young man help a family setting up their tent he seemed to have such a great attitude and all staff answered any questions we had about animals or activities.
My family all loved spending time with the animals the play area was also a big hit.
I can not recommend this place enough and we will be returning in the summer holidays!

Where to go
High Weald
Wildflower meadows, farmlands, and woodlands stretch north of Hastings in the High Weald AONB. Escape the crowds for scenic walks or bike rides through the hills, admire the seasonal blooms at National Trust gardens, or go glamping in a tipi or bell tent. Over the Kent border, take a ride on the Spa Valley Railway, visit the market town of Royal Tunbridge Wells, or sample Kent wines at a local vineyard.
Kent Coast
East of Hastings, rocky coves and soaring sea cliffs give way to sandy beaches along the Kent coast. The White Cliffs of Dover draw the biggest crowds, but charming Folkestone is a favorite among coastal campers, with its pretty marina and burgeoning art scene. Nearby, the Romney marshes are a breeding ground for birds and other wildlife.
East Sussex Coast
To the west, Eastbourne and Brighton are two of the most popular destinations along the south coast. Check into a coastal campsite within easy reach of the beach and spend your days swimming, kayaking, or stand-up paddleboarding along the shore. Just past Eastbourne, the lighthouse of Beachy Head and the white chalk sea cliffs of the Seven Sisters lie within the South Downs National Park, where hikers can set out along the South Downs Way.
When to go
June through August draws beach-goers to Hastings, which is the liveliest time to visit, with festivals and alfresco concerts taking place throughout. Reserve camping sites and holiday parks a few months in advance if visiting at this time. Temperatures are mild along the Channel coast, making it possible to explore by campervan or caravan year-round.
Know before you go
- Hastings has several camping and outdoors stores where you can pick up everything you need for your camping trip.
- Hastings has excellent public transport links to the surrounding towns and AONBs, making it possible to get around without your own transport.
- Wild camping is illegal throughout Hastings and the UK, although there are some areas where it is possible with permission from the landowners.
