The Shepherd's Hut at Coombe Farm Glamping is only an hour or so from London and within easy reach of Goodwood, Cowdray and the south coast; yet once you're here, you'll feel as if you've stepped through the back of the wardrobe and into the ancient woodland that surrounds, unimpeded views towards the South Downs and barely another soul around. The hut stands alone in the field, so you will exclusively enjoy the tranquility the land has to offer.
The Hut is equipped with fresh linen and towels, made extra cozy and warm with a beautiful flame and clean burning bio ethanol burner which creates a relaxed ambience, providing amazing heat for the chillier season stay.
The wash area is compact with everything you will need for alfresco catering and dining, including a great camp compressor fridge. We also provide equipment to cook on the ample fire pit for an authentic camp experience. We have a revitalizing, hot and spacious shower, all run from our off grid system. We also provide luxury toiletries.
Our loo is composting, extremely clean and freshly set up for every new guest and in keeping with our off grid, low-fi ethos.
Our family farm, Durleigh Marsh Farm is in Rogate, 5 min drive from Rake or about an hours walk through the woodland south from the hut. The popular Tea room offers a great breakfast and lunch menu. Booking is advisable.
Between the nearby traditional market towns of Petersfield and Haslemere you will discover a diverse choice of places to shop, dine and drink.
The site is encompassed by beautiful walks and trails taking you further into the heart of the South Downs.

We had such a fun time. Claire (our host) was lovely and made us feel incredibly welcome. We didn't bring anything to sit on (as we had taken public transport) and she was kind enough to lend us some benches for us to use on our patch. She ensured that our wood was kept dry for our campfire and that she was within reach should we need anything. We would definitely return again. Thank you for a lovely evening.

This was a fantastic campsite. I loved that it was a small site (not far to trek to the loo) but the tall grass between each pitch made you feel like you had some privacy. The toilets/showers were some of the best I've used on a campsite. Lesley and Bob were super helpful, we appreciated the tour when we arrived and knowing there was a reception hut if we needed anything. The pizzas were also a nice treat. Thanks so much for a terrific stay!

What a beautiful campsite! Absolutely loved the meadow vibe and views across to the Cathedral. The site staff are friendly and welcoming. Loved the on site shop and pizza oven. The washing facilities are excellent.
From a practical perspective, the pitch was flat and plentiful. Great to have a place to have a fire. It’s the fens so it’s flat and exposed so clever pitching to avoid winds are recommended.
Can’t wait to come back.

The Shepherd’s Hut is tucked away in a field off a single track road. We loved having the field to ourselves and not having to worry whether our music was too loud. There is room in the hut for two adults and two children - one in a bunk bed and one in a Z bed. It was very cosy! We enjoyed spending time outside walking in the woods and sitting around the fire pit in the evening. We had a lovely meal in The Flying Bull pub which was only 10 minutes walk away. Alice was always quick to respond to my messages and I was very grateful when she posted items back to me which I left behind.

Weekend Trip to Stamford Meadows Glamping
I am happy to report having a wonderful experience despite being caught in a storm. Initially I had considered cancelling my booking in the face of weather warnings yet I was so pleased to have persisted. The yurt, hot tub and other amenities were beautifully prepared and felt safe and secure. While the location was just what I was seeking. The experience was to provide an occasion for my partners birthday and this was well received.
My thanks to Amelia for thoughtfully creating a lovely, charming and relaxing space to be enjoyed.
