We are a family run farm situated in the beautiful Frome valley. The farm has a range of interests from the traditional Jersey milking cows to a community of workshops used by local craftsmen. As you'd expect from a site with such a name, there's a whole lot of space in which to relax and explore at 5 Acres, a large grassy site in the Somerset Levels. Kids and dogs are both welcome on site here, and there's plenty of scope for them to run about and play games safely away from barbecues and campfires (which are also permitted to keep you warm and fed in the evenings). Facilities on site include firepits, a toilet and shower block and outdoor sinks with mains water. Dogs must be kept on leads at all time. We class ourselves as a quite site so no amplified music. The premier pitch is fully enclosed so dogs can be let off the lead. There is a maximum of six people allowed on this pitch at any one time. Visitors are allowed as long as the total number of people doesn't exceed six and they are chargeable at the overnight rate and must leave by 18:00 - Sorry, had the envelope pushed a bit! Mains hook ups are 6Amp max rated. Pitches are approximately 16m x 20m. The flag, firepit and pitch number line up in the centre of your pitch. The surrounding Somerset Levels aren’t just out in the sticks – they also produce them. Willow cane has been cultivated the traditional way in this part of the county for hundreds of years and can be seen growing within a mile of 5 Acres. The Levels are also a wildlife haven, making them an all-round top choice for country walks along the many trails nearby. And while this may be a rural retreat, it's also one that's easy to get to as it's just off the A378 (no winding country lanes to negotiate for this one…) Taunton town centre, with its wide range of shops and supermarkets, is a 15-minute drive away. The closest pub and coffee shop are five minutes away by road.

I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough it’s so gorgeous and secluded. The pitch areas are very well spaced out. Jay is also extremely lovely and helpful! The amenities are well maintained and easy to find all over the area. I will absolutely be returning again.

Site was great, bare minimum and eco-friendly which we loved. Unfortunately weather got the best of us and we left a day early since it was only our first time camping. Saw lots of Pheasants and heard them running outside our tent in the morning which was wonderful, host was great and incredibly helpful too.

I have always loved Sweet Hill Farm. It’s a lovely relaxed campsite with sea views and amazing walks nearby. Also, being able to have a camp fire is fantastic. The showers are brilliant too. The only disappointment for me this year is that the compost loos have been replaced with horrible portaloos! Please bring back compost loos, they are so much nicer!

What an amazing spot in nature! This was an incredible getaway, such a quiet and natural space with birds, surrounded by trees and the very nearby woodlands which are covered in mushrooms, more than we could count! It was so peaceful, we loved the natural space and eco-friendly touches. We definitely want to return again! It was magical!

Really great site. Managed really well. Amazing spot in the woods and plenty of space between yourself and other campers. Firepits are provided and you can buy wood for fires if you need. There are some great walks nearby and plenty of stargazing! Would really recommend this site. Had a really wonderful weekend here. (There is a closing time of 7pm which is to be aware of and not being able to enter after that point so just something to be aware if traffic or travelling far after work.) The toilets, eco and flushing, were really good. Didn't use the showers so cant say!

We had the most amazing overnight stay at the Shepherd’s Hut with our three young children and our dog. Laura gave us the warmest welcome - she was so friendly, helpful, and made us feel completely at home right away. The hut itself was spotless, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we could possibly need. The kids absolutely loved exploring the surroundings, and it was such a safe, peaceful space for them to run around and enjoy the fresh air. Our dog was just as happy - plenty of room for walks and a truly pet-friendly atmosphere. Evening by the firepit under the stars was magical, and waking up to the sound of birds and stunning countryside views was the perfect escape from everyday life. Laura went above and beyond to make our stay special. We honestly didn’t want to leave!

1 night at Sweet Hill Farm

This was my first time camping here and I will definitely return again. Whilst SatNav got me most of the way, the directions on Hipcamp made the last little bit of the journey much easier. I was welcomed warmly at the well-stocked little cafe, and given a map to show my how to get to the field I pitched in. The tracks on-site are full of large potholes - so definitely something to be mindful of, especially if you have extremely low-suspension on your car! However, take it slow and easy and all is well here. I had the most amazing view, from where I pitched up, over to Portland Bill lighthouse. Both sunset and sunrise were stunning. Facilities here are extremely basic - but it’s enough for those that simply need to get away from life for a while and sleep under the stars without all the creature comforts of home. Of course, there is a place for being able to have all the mod-cons available, but this is camping the way it should be done! I wasn’t here long enough to speak to any of the other campers, but everyone seemed relaxed and there was no loud music or anything played into the night, meaning I could drift to sleep easily enough at the end of the day. Thank you all.

The ground is flat! Each pitch is numbered (very spacious) with it's own firepit in front of you. Very well set out. I like the one way system, easy to follow. Toilets clean. Site was easy to find as well. There is no 'view' to speak of but you are in the countryside so trees, hedges, birdsong and the stars at night. The host is a lovely person to have a chat to as well.

Quiet, sheltered and peaceful spot. Great location for using as a base to explore North Hampshire villages and walking trails. Was lovely in The Clearing - so much so we stayed on for an extra night! Facilities are rustic/simple (head torch needed to use the toilets day and night!) but they do the job as long as you’re prepared to get back to basics!

2 nights at Sweet Hill Farm

This was my first time ever camping and I had a great time at this site, it's the perfect mix of rural, real camping with local amenities near enough especially for someone doing camping for the first time. Located right near the coast, it's a beautiful view, excellent facilities including showers and cafe. The only downside is that when I did arrive in the evening there was no one to greet us, even though the cafe should've been open at that time but other than that no complaints, wonderful hosts and would definitely go again.

Lovely spacious site. Loos and showers immaculately clean. Christina was super helpful recommending bike rides and lending us an an OS map. The real clincher though was the easy access to the neighbouring woodland/forest for dog walking.

Many options to pitch tents or bring camper vans on site.

Weekend Trip to Stockbridge View Campsite

We only stayed one night as a trial so we didn’t get out & about, but the toilets/showers were clean, and the washing up shed (with charging dock) was very useful. The warden came to lend us a hammer when we were clearly struggling with our mallet, and David’s son very kindly offered help as we had car trouble. It felt like a ‘nice’, safe place to be with our young daughter.
