There's plenty of space around the site for traditional outdoor activities, with a rope swing and stepping stones over the shallow river and a bridge that's perfect for playing Pooh Sticks. In the surrounding area there are animal parks and nature reserves to walk around, or to head back further in time, you could take one of the trails through ancient Sherwood Forest, around quarter of an hour's drive away.
Guest facilities on site centre around the Cave Bar, a cool little space built into an exposure of 500-million-year-old sandstone, plus an outdoor terrace for sipping drinks out in the sunshine.

Authentic old school camping! Bring your own tent and stay in one our lovely private pitches. Our pitches are big enough to park your car and pitch a large family tent with plenty of space for sitting and BBQs. Our site is off grid so you will be provided with plenty of fresh water in containers. There are compost toilets dotted around the site which are cleaned daily and there is firewood and charcoal available to buy. We also have a little honesty shop selling a few bits and pieces that campers often forget to pack.
The mushroom farm feels more like wild camping or a pioneers camp. It is not a manicured site so we recommend bringing an airbed for a comfortable sleep.
But a positive you’ll be sharing it with wildlife – frequent visitors include songbirds, red kites, kestrels, owls, bats, lizards, frogs and toads, snakes, rabbits and hares, muntjac deer, mice, foxes, dragonflies, butterflies, moths and beetles…
The camp is set on a mushroom farm with young trees and large areas left to rewild. This means flowering thistles and uneven ground so it may not be suitable for babies, very young children or people with health conditions.
The 2025 camping season at the Mushroom farm is from Friday the 23rd of May until Sunday the 22rd of June. We are then closed for a few weeks but open again from Friday the 18th of July until Sunday the 17th of August.

Come along to Camp Lion and you`ll be staying in a spacious grass meadow within the grounds of Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Booking a stay entitles you to exclusive discounted multi-day entry to the park, and additional discounted days can be added during your stay - please just ask at the Camp Lion office.
Even after the park closes for the day, you can look forward to organised games and evening activities under the cover of Camp Lion Lodge Mess Tent, where theres a licensed bar and snacks on offer too.
Site facilities also include a breakfast den, access to the Oasis Kids Outdoor Play Area and Camp Lion Shop, where you can pick up anything vital that got left behind at home. There`s also plenty of space to let the kids have a good run around (and hopefully tire themselves out ready for a good night`s sleep…)
Camp Lion is a doddle to get to as well, being just five minutes drive from Junction 3 of the M18 and 20 minutes from the centre of Doncaster.

Authentic old school camping! Bring your own tent and stay in one our lovely private pitches. Our pitches are big enough to park your car and pitch a large family tent with plenty of space for sitting and BBQs. Our site is off grid so you will be provided with plenty of fresh water in containers. There are compost toilets dotted around the site which are cleaned daily and there is firewood and charcoal available to buy. We also have a little honesty shop selling a few bits and pieces that campers often forget to pack.
The mushroom farm feels more like wild camping or a pioneers camp. It is not a manicured site so we recommend bringing an airbed for a comfortable sleep.
But a positive you’ll be sharing it with wildlife – frequent visitors include songbirds, red kites, kestrels, owls, bats, lizards, frogs and toads, snakes, rabbits and hares, muntjac deer, mice, foxes, dragonflies, butterflies, moths and beetles…
The camp is set on a mushroom farm with young trees and large areas left to rewild. This means flowering thistles and uneven ground so it may not be suitable for babies, very young children or people with health conditions.
The 2025 camping season at the Mushroom farm is from Friday the 23rd of May until Sunday the 22rd of June. We are then closed for a few weeks but open again from Friday the 18th of July until Sunday the 17th of August.

Weekend Trip to Greenoak Hideout
We had such a lovely stay at Greenoak. The hosts were so friendly and approachable and there were lots of lovely small touches that made the yurts feel homely and comfortable.
The log burners and electric blankets meant that we were warm over night and had a really comfortable sleep. We are looking forward to going in the Summer to be able to enjoy more daylight hours.
The boys (4 and 7) loved all of the friendly animals and the play equipment on the land, as well as the hot tub!
We will definitely book again and would recommend to our friends and family!
Thank you for a lovely stay and we look forward to visiting again next year!

The setting was just perfect for our family of five (including two dogs and a 4 year old). The Yurt was comfortable, clean and very cosy. The private shower and toilet facilities were great, as was the hot tub.
We had a trip to the local nature reserve during our stay, however think our daughter and the dogs were just as happy in the grounds with lots to explore, very friendly animals and lots of activities including trampoline and climbing walls.

We camped in a lovely field, with amazing facilities. Clean showers with plentiful hot water, clean toilets and a washing up area. We had an electric pitch right on the edge of the fields with lovely views of the sunset. It wasn't very busy during our stay, so was very peaceful. Close to some great restaurants which were very child-friendly.
We paid extra for a campfire each night, but unfortunately, due to the strong winds on our 2nd night, we thought it would be safer to not use this! The campsite manager covered it for us to prevent it getting wet in any case.

1 night at Bircham Windmill
Spotlessly clean, the showers and facilities were as good as at home, the extra added thoughtfulness of clean bath mats tea towels washing up liquid and lots of toilet paper and hand towel and soap.
My shepherds hut was delightful, and yet again everything I needed with the welcoming cream tea, milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, spotlessly clean as everywhere was.
The windmill, the bakery, the café, my grandchildren loved the animals and the play area. There is absolutely not a thing I can think of that was not perfect. Oh I forgot to mention the games room. Thank you

This was our 2nd time at Butt Farm, and it definitely won’t be our last. We love it. The pitches are a great size. When we first arrived our allocated pitch had a tent on it but was quickly resolved, we were given 2 pitches to choose from. There are a few bbq’s which you can borrow free and fire pits for £12 per night including wood, which I think is very reasonable. Plenty of instant hot water for washing up. Fridge and freezers free to use. Nice toilets/showers, again with plenty of instant hot water (and music playing while you shower 😍). Oh and very free range eggs (chickens are loose on the site) for £2 for 6!! Brilliant. It’s only about 40 mins walk into Beverley. There’s really nothing to not like about this site. Would highly recommend. Will definitely return.

The toilets were really clean and stocked with anything you could need while your in there:) they even had a little tent shop for any supplies we often forget and wood for the fire! Louth
On the eastern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, historic Louth is full of Victorian and Georgian architecture. Louth is also especially renowned as a foodie haven, with markets and specialist butcher’s and cheese shops gaining a nationwide reputation–ideal for self-catering campers. Louth is near the popular local park Hubbard’s Hills, formed over 40,000 years ago by a glacial overspill channel. Campers have several options around the town, including pod camping and caravan parks.
Alford
If you’re looking for charming old thatched cottages, head directly to Alford, in the south east of the Lincolnshire Wolds and also very near the coast. It’s a market town and a good place to stock up on fresh produce for your camping adventures. There are several places to pitch a tent or park your caravan or motorhome, and thatched cottages that have been converted into holiday homes are also available–a particularly good option outside of the warmer summer months.
Caistor
In the north of the Lincolnshire Wolds, ancient Caistor has Roman and Viking history. It sees a lot of walkers passing through as it’s on the Viking Way, a 147-mile walk that starts on the banks of Lincolnshire’s Humber River and continues all the way to Rutland Water, east of Leicester. There are a lot of camping and other accommodation options at the Caistor Lakes Leisure Park, as well as an abundance of fish in the reservoirs here.
Skegness
While not in the Lincolnshire Wolds, the popular Lincolnshire Coast resort town of Skegness is just a short drive to the south-east. Campers who want to be near the beach can camp at caravan parks in Skegness and visit the wolds on a day trip. There are many family-friendly camping options here, from farm parks and holiday parks to cabins and basic tent sites.
