Next to junction 8 of the M20 there is also Leeds Castle, only a 20 minute drive from Far and Away and the Big Cat Sanctuary is only a few fields away. At night you can hear the roar of the wild cats really making it feel like you are Far and Away!

Nestled within the green rolling hills of Pett, Lunsford Farm opens its flowery meadows for the month of August once more. This is an unique opportunity to enjoy the East Sussex coast overlooking the expansive seashore of Pett Level under the stars on ancient meadow farmland. If you enjoy the proper simple camping experience, you will be in your element!
The pebbly and sandy beach of Pett (10 mins walk down the hill) offers a refreshing dip and during low tide an array of rock pools are waiting to be explored in the 6500 year old sunken forest.
There are ample places to feed hungry tummies, either at the beachfront cafe, weekend food truck, or up in the village at one of the two pubs that serve great food.
The simple shop in the farmyard stocks fresh eggs from the farm’s own chickens, local milk, yogurt, and apple juice from the farm’s orchard. There are also logs to purchase for your campfire.
Campfires are permitted as long as they are raised off the ground so as not to burn the ancient grassland which does not repair. We are happy to be able to offer a small number of firepits to hire for a returnable deposit, or bring your own to avoid missing out. With no nearby lights, light pollution is low which makes for a stunning starry nights sky when cloud conditions allow. You will be utterly amazed how many stars you can see, and perhaps discover new ones.
A five minute walk (you will need torches for night walking) brings you to the village of Pett. Here you can enjoy a relaxing pint or a good meal at the Royal Oak pub, visit the Tic Tokory tea shop or hang out in the play park in the cricket/recreational field. There is also the Two Sawyers pub 5 mins further on that serves excellent food.
As the campsite is situated within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it can function as a great base for a multitude of walks or bike rides, vineyard tours, or just a general ramble around the towns of Rye, Winchelsea, Old Town Hastings or further afield.

In the beautiful High Weald of Kent, Tash and Nick have been running May Tree Orchard's low-impact, nature-friendly, seasonal campsite, Plum Camping, for the last 5 years.
The Soil Association certified organic land is full of wild flowers and surrounded by woodland and other orchards. Electricity and hot water for showers and washing up is solar generated. So you can charge your phone if necessary, but we'd recommend stargazing and enjoying the quiet warmth of friends and family around an evening fire instead.
Bring your own tent, stay in the delightful hand-made shepherd’s hut or stylish caravan, or hire the whole May Tree Orchard space. Numbers are kept low here so that there is always plenty of room for everyone, as well as peace and quiet.
The campsite is an hour and a half drive from London and a 20 min walk to the sleepy and pretty village of Goudhurst, with pubs selling great food and two local shops for self-catering. There are also two excellent farm shops within walking distance.
Close to May Tree Orchard, there are walks via Sissinghurst, Scotney and Bodiam Castle, and water activities on the River Rother and at Bewl Water. Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest is a ten-minute drive from the campsite and the coast around Hastings and Rye is just over 30 minutes.
An amazing independent food business, Growing Communities, sells pears, apples and plums grown at the orchard in their box scheme serving North and South London, and you can also buy them from the Pear Necessities stall at Stoke Newington Farmers Market. Delicious apple juice and tasty chutney made from the organic apples grown in the orchard are available to purchase on site, as well as plum preserve and orchard plums.

During the summer our site is a popular spot for families and campers visiting nearby Camber Sands sandy beach and year round we welcome all different types of campervan, motorhome and caravan.

Please note our strict 'no group' policy - we only accept single families, single couple and single campers. No more than 2 adults in any group, even on separate pitches.
Please bring your acoustic guitar or similar but, as this is a quiet site, please no radios, stereos or videos unless you're using headphones. The birdsong here is incredible by the way!
Very wet weather and winter – please note in the off-season, and if very wet, the camping field is closed to vehicles, replaced instead by semi-hardstanding areas or our summer car-park area. Facilities are open but please be prepared for the vagaries of the weather, leaves, puddles and mud. To change pitch please let us know asap so that we can try if possible to find you another. Apart from the car-park, pitches can get very muddy in prolonged, heavy rain. If you are not prepared for these eventualities please do not book.

We light our authentic Finnish sauna on Friday and Saturday. you can buy a £5 Sauna Pass onsite that gives you access during your stay, If its not currently hot don't worry its less than an hour to get it hot!
CAMPFIRES
We love campfires and see them as an integral part of the camping experience. Campfires bring people together at the end of the day, to cook, socialise and relax. The smell of the wood smoke at twilight and the excitement on the kids faces when the marshmallows come out are bound to set you up for a perfect night away from the city lights! We sell crates of firewood, and hire fire pits for you to use during your stay.
MUSIC
The Lower Fields are for quiet camping. We would like it to be the perfect place for children to sleep and adults to chitchat around the campfires.
On the Upper Field and near the Centre Camp we do allow you to listen and enjoy any music. But please respect your fellow campers! We want everybody to be able to enjoy their weekend without being disturbed. We ask for quiet across the whole site from 11.30pm.
Overall we are quite a sociable site, with things happening at center camp every weekend. and a public campfire to sit around for a few mins after your sauna. We have a great area for large family groups. We pride ourselves on helping new campers get the most out of the experience come and hay hello at center camp.

Two acre quiet cherry orchard site based around a Tudor Manor house 1547 that gives its name to our village. Surrounded by orchards and open countryside but within easy reach of Faversham, Whitstable and Canterbury. Pitches for tents, campervans, motorhomes and touring caravans with or without electric hook up on a level grassy site. Pets are welcome and a crew member is always around the reception or farm to help out.
The Campsite is open from 1st march until 31st October.
The local area is awash with things to do. Faversham once the busiest port in 17th century England for its wool trade has the longest complete medieval street in the country. A wealth of little shops, cafes and pubs as well as the country’s oldest family owned brewery Shepherd Neame.
Whitstable sitting just along the coast, famed for its Oysters and Sunsets is a fun beachside community bustling in the summer months and hauntingly bleak in the winter ones. The World Heritage sites of Canterbury are just a fifteen minute trip away with all its well documented history and plentiful shops and eateries.

It felt like a complete oasis away from the world at the moment. The owners were so welcoming, they had clearly put their heart and soul into the site. From a beautiful family friendly festival vibe of a communal area, to a stunning hot shower, a hot sauna and shady areas to hang out. The pitches were spacious, we loved the food and cocktails van! There was great walking all around the site. Could you ask for more?! We really had a sense of community and connection. Speaking to people we hadn’t met either around the fire, in the sauna or even sharing some cake with strangers at our camp. I feel so full and rebalanced now I’m home. Thank you so much for all the hard work you have put in so we all have a chance to be humans not robots xxx

This is such a beautiful little spot. I just can't recommend it enough. I went with my son who's 5 and he loved staying in the caravan, exploring the site, and seeing the wildlife. Natasha and Nick are absolutely lovely and excellent hosts. Thanks for sharing your lovely space. Definitely try their apple juice it's delicious. If you want a quiet break in the countryside, this is it.

We had two fields largely to ourselves - this is undulating farmer fields normally home to sheep so consider that. Very quiet. Little shade though we pitched up under some trees. Can park car next to tent and pitch wherever you want. Can see Rye bay in the distance. Facilities are very limited - one compostable toilet, one drinking water tap and no showers, electricity or WiFi! But there is a phone signal! Rather grumpy adjacent homeowner but don’t let that put you off as loads of space. Beach is a good 20 minute walk down a steep hill. Farm shop for a few basics. Otherwise, drive to nearby town for supplies or Winchelsea beach for local co-op. Pub 10 min walk. We found a working shower at St Leonard’s beach.
Overall, we loved it and would highly recommend but not for everyone I suspect. Host and local farmer were helpful and very friendly.

Really great peaceful campsite with beautiful views. We all had a lovely few days at Glassenbury - the facilities were all we needed and the owners friendly and helpful. Lots of space in between pitches and fun tyre swing and bus for the kids to play on.

This is a lovely campsite and we will definitely come back, it was so peaceful waking up in the orchard. It was very kind of Natasha to lend us her OS map so we could do a walk from the site. Make sure you try the pear and apple juices available to buy on the day!

The campsite is exactly as described. It’s a beautiful chilled out basic site with stunning views. The owner was extremely friendly and welcoming. We had an excellent nights stay. If you love star gazing this is one for you. Thank you.
