The hut has a cosy double bed, small table with stools and is heated by a wood burner, perfect for a relaxing comfortable stay. Rechargeable lanterns are provided and found in the washroom.
There is a separate kitchen shed hut next to the Everdene Hut which has a generous supply of crockery, cutlery and pots and pans. A two-ring gas hob, kettle, barbecue, and fire pit are available for cooking. Water is provided in the hut kitchen. There is a shared washroom located at the farm (approximately 100m from the Hut) with a walk-in shower, WC and a small kitchen unit with a sink and draining board for washing up. The washroom also has a washing machine, tumble dryer plus a fridge with freezer compartment, trolleys and electricity for charging.

Lovely site, great amenities that were also eco friendly, river is right there for a swim or kayak and the morning views were beautiful. We were the only campers so it was super quiet but Jonathan was close by if we had any issues. Would have loved to have stayed longer!

We have stayed in 50+ campsites, we know what we like and this site was amazing.
If you like friendly, non-wardened, relaxed, quiet with an outstanding barn and full kitchen facilities. this is the place for you!!
Pitches have plenty of space and beautiful surroundings, with lots of wildlife.
With cider made from their own apples and sausages made from their own pigs, it’s a real treat!

My pitch had a fabulous view of the River Tamar. The site was super quiet and all features for basic camping as described, i.e. shower and composting loo. Handy to be on the Tamara Coast to Coast Path as well.

Terrific barn, with well-equipped kitchen for all to use, makes for a dry and comfortable alternative to the camping stove!

We had a wonderful stay in Jonathan's land. He is very welcoming and helpful.
From the camp, we had beautiful views of the river and felt truly immersed in nature, surrounded by the silence.
A compost toilet and a cute and spacious shower in a horse box were all the services we needed to make our stay comfortable.
We would love to go back one day!

It was a really peaceful site with large well spaced pitches close to Lyme Regis. Pub within walking distance, we didn’t try it and you’d need a torch. Facilities well thought out with access to a fridge as a nice touch. Showers were cold at 6am but too early to ask anyone if this was a one off problem.

Really beautiful peaceful campsite with fantastic facilities. We picked pitch 9 with the best views down the valley and across to the woodland. It was so peaceful that all we heard was the birds singing and the wind blowing. Frida was so welcoming and showed us round when we arrived. The field has been left to grow so is full of wildflowers and insects, and the individual campsites are their own mown circle up their own mown track. The toilets and showers are lovely and clean - great hot showers! The indoor area in a barn is a real bonus with tables and chairs, board games, a table tennis table and a dartboard. The kitchen is very well-equipment and in poor weather good for indoor cooking. Eggs, sausages and cider are available for purchase. There is a lovely walk around the farmland including the large apple orchards with gorgeous views along the way. All in all highly recommended.

We had such a lovely, peaceful stay at Jonathan’s.
Our pitch was perfectly tucked away with a wonderful view of the river.
Our three year old loved exploring and seeing the chickens and ducks roaming around the farm. Fresh eggs for breakfast were very much enjoyed!
Jonathan was a brilliant host, friendly and helpful and great communication.
Would highly recommend for a peaceful get away if you like a simple wild camping set up.
The location is magical, we hope to return one day soon!

Had a beautiful stay. The hut was clean and well equipped. The shower was a bit lacking but better than nowt. I particularly loved that the hut was enclosed in its own paddock so my dog was contained and I could relax. The bed was comfortable and I slept like a log. Had a visit from a peacock as the sun went down each evening, how cool!

Lake camping in Haldon Forest guide
When to go
Forest walks are available year-round in Haldon Forest. Escape the heat along the shaded trails in summer or come in autumn to admire the colourful fall foliage. July and August is peak season, when advance booking is essential for park activities. To avoid the crowds, choose a weekday visit outside of the school holidays. The treetop adventure park is open all year, but opening hours are limited through winter, so check ahead.
Know before you go
- Haldon Forest is a 15-minute drive from Exeter along the A38.
- Paid parking is available at the park, and buses run from Exeter centre to Exeter Racecourse, a 1-mile walk from the park.
- There are restrooms and a café in the park.
- Many of the park’s trails are accessible, and Tramper and mobility scooters are available to hire.
