The Mushroom Farm Campsite

36 units · Tents, Glamping · Oakham, England
Authentic old school camping! Bring your own tent and stay in one our lovely private pitches. Our pitches are big enough to park your car and pitch a large family tent with plenty of space for sitting and BBQs. Our site is off grid so you will be provided with plenty of fresh water in containers. There are compost toilets dotted around the site which are cleaned daily and there is firewood and charcoal available to buy. We also have a little honesty shop selling a few bits and pieces that campers often forget to pack. The mushroom farm feels more like wild camping or a pioneers camp. It is not a manicured site so we recommend bringing an airbed for a comfortable sleep. But a positive you’ll be sharing it with wildlife – frequent visitors include songbirds, red kites, kestrels, owls, bats, lizards, frogs and toads, snakes, rabbits and hares, muntjac deer, mice, foxes, dragonflies, butterflies, moths and beetles… The camp is set on a mushroom farm with young trees and large areas left to rewild. This means flowering thistles and uneven ground so it may not be suitable for babies, very young children or people with health conditions. The 2025 camping season at the Mushroom farm is from Friday the 23rd of May until Sunday the 22rd of June. We are then closed for a few weeks but open again from Friday the 18th of July until Sunday the 17th of August.

The Little Stable

1 unit · Glamping · Northamptonshire, East Midlands
The Little Stable is situated in a meadow, which is part of a 63 acre arable field adjacent to Laundimer Woods and Fermyn Woods. The land has been farmed by my father and grandfather for the last 60 years going back to a time of horse drawn ploughs and open top tractors. The stable was built 25 years ago for a horse called Whisper and over the years it was left to deteriorate. I have been gradually restoring the building since 2019 and decided it would be ideal as a luxury tiny home. I have put my heart and soul into build a unique, comfortable and private space for people seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. On the doorstep are some fantastic walks and rides through the woods. They were one of the original re-release sites for Red Kites in the UK and the breeding programme has been incredibly successful. It's a hidden gem, off the beaten track and a great place to reconnect with nature and the countryside. We can give you a map of the many trails through the woodland and other places of interest. We would advise bringing a pair of wellies or sturdy walking boots. A short car journey away you will find Deene House & Park (3 miles), Kirby Hall (4 miles), Rockingham Castle (4 miles), Boughton House (5 miles), Lyveden New Bield (6 miles) and the pretty and historic market town of Oundle (7 miles), A little further afield there is the beautiful town of Stamford and magnificent Burghley House (19 miles).

2 units · Glamping · England
Escape from it all at our pop-up glamping site (July+August only) - The Grove at Melchbourne. Immerse yourself in nature and switch off from the world. In a beautiful shaded woodland grove which looks out over a majestic valley, you can stay in one of our two bell tents - Olive and Pearl. No WiFi. No electricity. No cars. Just birds, deer, trees, wildflowers and rolling parkland. It's England at its loveliest, hidden away in the North Bedfordshire countryside... We have two bell tents (Olive and Pearl) - each has a double bed and single foldaway camp bed. A further camp bed is available on request. Please note that although we can accept up to four guests (2 adults, 2 children) per booking, we can only accommodate a maximum of 2 adults per booking. Each tent has its own fire pit and there is a shared field kitchen with gas bbq, two burner hobs and simple food prep facilities, as well as tea and coffee. As there is no electricity there is no refrigerator on site, but you can rent a cooler box with a couple of bags of ice from us. There is a compostable toilet and hot shower on site. Each tent has a fire pit and we provide you with a basket of logs to get started, and each fire pit has an A-frame to grill on. You can buy additional baskets of logs from us. Please note that there is no electricity and no WIFI on site... The Grove at Melchbourne is a nature-lovers paradise, playing home to deer, foxes, rabbits, badgers, buzzards, red kites, owls and kingfishers. You can also come and say hello to our gorgeous Shetland ponies, Dolly and Pancho. We are also just a 2 mile walk across rolling unspoilt countryside to Strawberry Hill Farm, a rewilding site that is home to turtle doves, linnets, harvest mice and nightingales.
