brilliant place to stay, very relaxed there but if you need anything they was there. me and my partner stayed here with our 2 daughters and our dog and it was 100% one of the best places we have been to, great veiws, great facilities. all in all will 100% be staying again and maybe try the other cabins.

We loved our stay at Aldridge Mill! It was so peaceful and lots of lovely walking spots near by :)
It was so refreshing having space for ourselves and our dogs - We arrived at the end of September so was very quiet and spacious.

The site was exactly as described! Really quiet and calming.
Our only note would be to make sure if your van is bigger than a short wheel base is make sure you are a relatively confident driver as the roads to get to the site are narrow single track and quite tight.
But overall we would be happy to stay again.

Lovely site, great amenities that were also eco friendly, river is right there for a swim or kayak and the morning views were beautiful. We were the only campers so it was super quiet but Jonathan was close by if we had any issues. Would have loved to have stayed longer!

My family and I loved the campsite. We were 10 people: 7 adults and 3 5-year-old children. We chose one of the private sites and brought 4 tents. The site was large and private. We enjoyed 3 nights there and plan to return sometime soon. We cooked over a lovely campfire, which the kids loved.
They also went canoeing one morning, completing a fascinating trip.

An interesting and wonderful spot that is a superb location for cornwall adventures and an incredible campsite with the lake and restaurant! They need to sort out the hot water and when they do it will be 5/5!

I stayed in Gosels as a private pitch and absolutely loved it. The campsite was perfect blend of eco/modern (compostable/flushable toilets and hot showers) within a tranquil setting. I liked how the campsite was used in a traditional sense for escape keeping noise and disturbance down to a minimum. The quarry lake was a great area for a splash around and cool down. Though used heavily by young families, had enough space for all. I already miss my chicken and rabbit friends seen daily on my pitch. The location of the site was perfect for me to make some visits out to North Cornwalls surrounding beaches and beauty spots. Well worth the trip.

Look no further – just book it! The site was spotless and really well-kept, with a lovely play area that kept the kids happy. It’s perfectly located, close to amazing spots like the rocky valleys and Tarr Steps, with stunning surroundings all around. Alex was absolutely amazing – so friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. If you’re looking for a place around North Devon, this is definitely it. We can’t wait to come back!

Would highly recommend , we stopped in the safari lodge and had the whole site to our selves kids and dog loved it . lodge was very clean and so was the shower and toilet facilities also has a kitchen what has everything you need if you do forget anything with an honesty box to leave the money in . We was lucky to have a clear night so seeing all the stars at night was amazing also spotted deers in the morning. Very pleased with our stay

Richard is such a nice guy and goes out of his way to help, including helping us with our electric hook up. The site has really lovely views and was very peaceful. We had a really great, relaxed visit. Close to dog beaches and bouldering at Helman’s Tor. We also really enjoyed the eggs! Definitely recommend if you want peace and quiet with a view

My pitch had a fabulous view of the River Tamar. The site was super quiet and all features for basic camping as described, i.e. shower and composting loo. Handy to be on the Tamara Coast to Coast Path as well.

We booked a weekend stay with our daughter and it was lovely, very peaceful and calm. She loved feeding the pigs! The hot tub stays hot for a long time once you’ve got it going so worth firing it up nice abs early. The site owners were always around and really helpful too.

Very spacious, quiet, well maintained campsite. The bell tent was very well equipped and the outside kitchen covered with a tarp was very convenient. Everyday frozen cooling elements are provided for the cool box. Great service! Lesley and Tony were super friendly and helpful. The kids had lots of fun playing and could wander on their own around the campsite. Can recommend staying here!

What an incredible stay at this working farm campsite in North Devon! From the moment we arrived, Nick made us feel completely welcome with her warm, relaxed approach. She strikes the perfect balance - always visible and ready to help with anything you need, while having thoughtfully designed the campsite so that most of your needs are already taken care of without having to ask.
The practical touches really stood out: the double-space fridge was brilliant for longer stays, and the honesty box system for the washer and dryer worked seamlessly. The shower block deserves special mention - spacious enough for whole families, spotlessly clean, and with excellent water pressure and hot water. Perfect for families with children.
What makes this place truly magical is being on a genuine working farm. The animals are integrated naturally into the campsite environment, and there's a wonderful freedom to wander around and observe them respectfully. No overly officious rules - just common sense and respect for the animals and farm life. The views across the Devon countryside are absolutely stunning.
Nick herself was exceptional throughout our stay - her genuine care for guests and attention to detail really shows. We're already planning our return visit!
Highly recommended for anyone wanting an authentic farm experience with excellent facilities and the warmest of welcomes.

Wildlife-watching campsites in Bellever Forest guide
When to go
Summer, especially July and August, is peak season in Dartmoor National Park and popular spots such as Bellever Forest can get crowded—get there early to snag a picnic bench. Forest walks are enjoyable at any time of year, but autumn is particularly beautiful, with its rainbow of fall foliage. Dartmoor weather is notoriously changeable, so bring your raincoat and something warm, even in summer.
Know before you go
- Bellever Forest is located in Dartmoor National Park, a 5-minute drive south of Postbridge. There are pay and display car parks (payment by card only) at Bellever village, by the entrance to the forest, and at Postbridge village, a 1-mile walk.
- Both car parks have restrooms, but there are no other facilities, so bring everything you need with you. The closest village is Postbridge, home to a pub and a few small shops.
- Some walking trails at Bellever Forest are accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
- Dartmoor has free-roaming ponies, sheep, and cattle, and these animals have right of way on moorland roads. There is a strict speed limit of 40 mph throughout. It is a fineable offence to feed any of the animals in the park, and visitors are also advised to keep a distance for their own safety—these are feral animals and may kick or bite.
