Tent Site 3
in Echoes Of The Sea, WashingtonCamping by the beach
What a lovely spot! We happened upon this listing by chance and were thrilled with our stay. We tent camped and spent our days going up and down the coast as well as a trip to the Quinault Lake Rainforest. There is a hike trail close to the camp grounds that we took the dogs to and we had the entire beach to ourselves that morning! Lots of fog, it was such a unique experience. All in all we fell in love with this part of the coast and will be back!
We were extra happy to have a clean bathroom facility and shower to end our days with!
Country Cabin
in Treehouse, CaliforniaA slice of heaven!
The 30 minute drive in on Highway 96 was captivating with the winding Klamath river hugging the road the entire time. Deer are out and about so drive safely here.
We were a little hesitant on the listing at first because of the taxidermy in the photos but I found them to be more of a tribute to the animals than trophies. My husband just ignored them and all it worked out.
The view from the back patio is remarkably peaceful. Our dogs and us felt at home, safe, zen and clean! The craftsmanship of this Cabin is something to admire - we come from past generations of wood workers and can tell someone enjoyed putting love into this space. The Bathroom is awesome and we fell in love with the tile in the shower!
There is a small farm just 50 feet from the cabin where Ronnie the caretaker stays. He was right there if we needed anything but gave us complete privacy. There are farm animals on a small scale that are contained but there are Turkey roaming the property so keep an eye out when walking dogs. When we said our goodbyes Ron generously offered peppers, onions, garlic and more that he had grown himself - canât wait to cook a meal with them!
We really just needed somewhere to stay on our way home (10year anniversary road trip from the North Cascades to San Diego and back to Washington) but found a spot we hope to come back to one day!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us, Gina! We really appreciate it!
A1 - Lakeside at Finnon Point
in Finnon Lake Recreation Area, CaliforniaWish our stay there was longer!
Immediately upon arrival we were awestruck by the scenery. Deer and squirrels came to the waters edge to share a drink. The host came to greet us and was very nice and then gave us privacy.
We set up camp and took our Canoe out on Finnon Lake and got to admire several types of birds. Mallards, Geese, a Crane and other smaller varieties. Another family there caught a small bass and we got to see a Gopher making tunnels by our tent - so cute.
The water was the perfect temperature for a swim and that I did. I recommend entering and exiting at the sandy âpublicâ beach as the one on our site had a ton of algae to get through.
At night the fire department made their rounds to ensure everyone was following the fire ban which we greatly appreciate - seeing so many burnt forests in CA was heartbreaking so we were thankful that the first responders were being proactive.
Also at night, the Ducks and Geese will likely sing the entire time. This was enough to keep a heavy sleeper awake but happily so.
It should be noted that the bathrooms were clean, clean, clean! We appreciated that a lot!
We will definitely make a trip back from Eastern Washington again some day!
Secluded Vineyard Walk-In (Site 3)
in Yosemite Garden Camp, CaliforniaWow, what a beautiful view! We got there just before the sun set - we recommend getting there sooner to set up as it is quite the trek from the car to the platform and we were chasing light. Itâs also quite an incline so pace yourself and limit the trips you take. We did none of this and really got a work out lol
Theyâre not kidding about the road - 4 wheel drive is necessary and you will feel like a shaken maraca by the end of it, even going 5 mph the whole time. Worth. It. GPS will definitely try to take you to private roads so follow the hosts written directions and youâll be fine.
Also, donât try cooking meat - we accidentally summoned about 20+ Bees that relentlessly devoured our breakfast. This made the tear down a little nerve wracking as we had to shield ourselves and work around them.
It should be noted that the hot water valves were taken off the sinks - none available.
The private, stunning view left us fulfilled regardless of the bumps in the road ;)
Site 4
in Death Valley Stargazing Camp, CaliforniaGo see the stars!
If you want to see the prettiest night sky, Death Valley is the place you just gotta go. This particular site is small and private for a campground in the desert. Pottyâs were dried from the heat but did the job. The wild Donkeyâs were the only sound to hear and was only when they wandered close enough. The alien signs have been removed or taken, not sure which so the green mail box is your only marker. Cheers!
Site 2 - Enchanted Forest Retreat w/Showers
in Campground, CaliforniaMixed feelings
Truly an enchanting experience sleeping UNDER the redwoods! (Site 2) The Fairy Rings, Amphitheater and Creek Hike were splendid. The neighboring camp mates were not. We had one coupleâs unleashed dog repeatedly come to our tent, antagonizing our dogs and barking at us like we were in his territory. They apologized but just yelled for their dog repetitively and to no avail. Then the next day we went for the creek hike and explored, the whole time our dogs on leashes as simply stated in the campground rules. We made it to the bottom of the hike finally to see that a couple was already down there - posted up for the rest of the day. I donât blame them, I would want to monopolize such a pretty sight as well but we didnât get to see but a sliver of it until their unleashed dog came charging at ours. We had to pick ours up and turn around. The dog followed, the owner thankfully ran up to get their dog but it made for a pretty annoying hike back up without a rest spot or reward of the grand finale.
I realize thereâs not a lot the site hosts can do in the off season about disrespectful guests but it was bad enough a taste to not find it worth to come back.
We were also assaulted in the morning by a swarm of bees. Of course our dogs werenât too thrilled as we pulled a few out of their mouths. This is obviously a part of nature, I know to avoid bees or at least to remain calm and leave them alone but they had a point of interest on the ground behind our car. Guessing that past campers dumped some kind of meat grease, giving them cause to congregate.
It should also be noted that hot water times are posted in the bathroom - they have to shut it off at times.
Crescent City Camping (Private)
in Little Brave House, Soda Lake CA, CaliforniaCute & tucked away property
Safe, serene and minimal camping spots! The bit of fog coming through the trees each morning really set a magical ambiance. Hosts were awesome! Contactless but responsive. Short drive to Redwoods and Beaches left our buckets full! Thanks again!
Site 4 - Cascade River Retreat
in Cascade River Retreat, WashingtonLoved it!
What a slice of heaven! We got in during a rain storm and our host came to greet us and offer amenities! We were the only site out of 8 occupied so we felt like kings! Very quick walk to one of the most peaceful river beaches weâve seen yet. Weâll be going back!
