Welcome to the cabins at Wendego Lodge on Tranquille Lake. Enjoy your 100% off-grid, rustic cabin in the middle of the BC wilderness. You are right on the lake with beautiful views and may see bald eagles, osprey and moose. This is an all-season property: swimming, boating, hiking and quadding in the SUMMER, hunting in the FALL, and ice fishing, snowmobiling (100s of km of trail right from your door) in the WINTER. All year long fish for natural rainbow trout and Kokanee. This is a rustic 100% off-grid experience! There is no electricity in the cabins and cold running water in the summer. SLEEPING: The cabin has two bedrooms separated by curtains from the living space and features: One queenTwo single bunksOne double futon HEATING/COOKING:There is a wood stove for heat and cooking and wood is supplied and cold running water in the summer months. A wood burning BBQ is available for use and a huge upright smoker for your fish haul (bring your own propane cylinder). BATHROOMS: There are no bathrooms in the cabin. Flush toilets and hot showers are available in the wash house steps away in the summer and in the lodge in the other months. ELECTRICITY: The cabins have no electricity. Please bring your own lanterns and flashlights. WATER FUN: The cabin is RIGHT ON THE WATER and in the summer we have dock for jumping off of or launching a boat. We have kayaks, floaties and paddle boards available on a first come first served basis. Boat rental with 6.5 HP motor also available for $99 a day. Ice fishing is excellent in the winter. WE PROVIDE: dishes, cups, mugs, cutlery, cooking pots and some utensils. YOU NEED TO BRING: whatever you need for sleeping (bags or blankets and sheets, pillows), food, drinking water, and personal items such as towels and toiletries. Firewood and water (from the lake) for washing is provided. There is no fridge so you will need to bring a cooler with ice for your perishables. Town is an hour away. CHECK-OUT: Please leave the cabin clean and tidy and pack out all your garbage and left-over food. ACCESS: We are located 50 km down a logging road and we advise access only by 4-wheel drive vehicles although many cars have made it in the summer. In the winter, access is an ice road. Drivable but slippery. We request that you call/email when you hit the gravel road 50 km away so we know when to expect you. You have access to the lodge property, lake, dock, trails, grass area and kayaks/floaties/paddle boards when available. Pets welcome with a $35 per pet per stay fee.

A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful. We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents. There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna! The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away! Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed. **Packing List** - Bedding (sheets & blankets or sleeping bag. Pillow covers) - Extra pillows (we provide 2 per cabin. GUEST ACCESS Guests can access all parts of the property except for the shop, which is off limits. Also, please remember that there is wildlife in the area. We had a fabulous stay at the cabin. We loved how everything was milled and built by the owners. It was clean, quiet and so peaceful. We definitely plan to return. The hot pool was HUGE and had a great view of the stars at night. We came prepared with coolers full of ice, cooking utensils and made use of the provided bbq. There was a large fire pit and wood provided, although we ran out of time to have a fire. We enjoyed the wood stove heating and rustic nostalgic feeling. The outdoor shower and outdoor washroom were clean and well kept. Beds were comfortable and our son loved his space in the upper loft. We appreciate it is pet friendly, although this trip we left our dogs with a sitter :) This is a little piece of heaven!

Rustic escape! Bring water and keep the fire going. We stayed three nights at Site #2 (log cabin) in mid-winter. Enjoyed cross-country skiing, ice fishing for trout, and snowshoeing the trails or around the lake. Hosts Melanie and Ray were exceptionally accommodating, and even ploughed the driveway before we departed. The Lodge was cozy, and the sauna was a delight. Would recommend for the rustic experience and the natural beauty of the area. Would return with sleds!

The lodge itself was clean, comfortable, and very welcoming, making it easy to relax and enjoy the experience. What really stood out was the journey getting there—the drive was absolutely beautiful, surrounded by stunning scenery that set the tone for the whole stay.(you just gotta stay a little patient and careful with some bends and turn especially in snow otherwise easy way up) The peaceful atmosphere and natural surroundings made it feel like a true getaway. I would definitely recommend Wendego Lodge to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat with breathtaking views along the way.

The cabin was cute and cozy, with a warm indoor stove to keep the place warm. Lots of space with one mains bed and two small beds up top. We were there in October and we had the area to ourselves which was great, but it seemed the camping spot and Teepee were quite close to the cabin.

Better than advertise. The Kevin was new and clean. The wood stove kept us very warm and toasty. The firepit was well stocked with cedar cut offs . Hot pool was extremely relaxing and had a great vibe. We added a canoe to our trip and fished Gardom Lake. Excellent experience, we'll be back !

We really enjoyed Darcy’s cabin. It was simple, quaint and so peaceful. The outdoor shower was awesome and the pit toilet was clean and not smelly. The supplied propane fire ring made the atmosphere cozy as there was a fire ban. The views were lovely. As Aussies, we’d remind other campers that cutlery and glassware is not supplied- but this did not take away from our experience at all!
