Offering a serviced camping site for tents for up to 4 persons, with a firepit, two hammock chairs, rustic toilet, cold (sun-warmed) shower in season, a large deck with bar-height table and two chairs, four lawn chairs, floating dock, garbage and recycling bins, canoe and private 1.5 acre lake! Parking is right at the campsite, following a 400m tractorway over grass. This tractorway enters and exits onto the county road independent of the host’s private home driveway.
Our small, bio-diverse farm is in a quiet location but only 10km from shops and cafes. Our property is run with minimal chemical inputs. The lake supports fish, turtles, thousands of tree frogs in the spring, and musk rat, woodland ducks, and heron. You may also see rare bobolinks, barn swallows, and bats in summer. Star gazing is very good, there is very little light pollution. Tall poplar trees provide shade and shelter as well as pleasant sounds of the wind.
Footwear is advised. Conditions underfoot are usually good, we do try to keep poison ivy in check but it does pop up here and there.

FACILITIES
We have a beautiful organic farm and a few spots for you to stay alongside (or in) our fields. You really get off grid here. We have water to fill up your tank and 30 amp electricity. There's wifi near the house. And for a small fee you can get wood for a campfire.
For swimming we recommend the beautiful beaches in Rondeau Park, only a few minutes away! Also, you can walk or cycle to town for an ice cream or groceries.

The terrain is mostly flat but interesting. Campsites are private with good separation from each other. ALL sites have 2 car parking, a picnic table, fire pit and covered wood for purchase. Campfires are permitted according to our approved burn plan before midnight.
5G/LTE cellphone service is good for Bell, Rogers and Telus networks. We have 3 outhouses on the premises and an outdoor hot shower.
FREE Firewood can be gathered on the forest floor or pay for on-site pre-cut wood. Outhouses are close to campsites....but not too close 💩
Port Rowan is only 12 minutes away by car, most amenities can be purchased only 1 minute away at the local Busy Bee gas station.
We are situated in the middle of a Recreation Hotspot! Our site is within 3 minutes of paddling the Big Creek, 3 to 10 minutes to several A+ hiking trails, 15 minutes to amazing freshwater beaches of Long Point and Turkey Point, and the area is abound with cycling trails, motorcycle routes, geocaching, boat launches (we have room here for your boat!), cider/wine tours, and more! We are the perfect basecamp for everything the Long Point Bay area has to offer

Welcome to The Sanctuary.
Let me tell you about the stars out on my tent sites.. they are magnificent to see.. in the morning you will hopefully awake to a beautiful sunrise with the wind turbines in the faint distance while you enjoy your coffee and oatmeal (if I am around just ask if you need a quick breakfast to start your travels)
Remember, to rest and recharge..
This site is home to one of the oldest churches in Upper Canada, this building was erected in 1860 as a Wesleyan Methodist church. Although from my understanding there was an older church onsite before 1860. The church and graveyard holds heritage property designation by the township of norwich.
The 1860 congregation was known for its “methodical” devotion to prayer and social justice, including support of the Underground Railroad. They were also famously teetotalers (no alcohol), and this church likely served as the local hub for the Temperance movement in 1800s Oxford Centre. In 1925, the church joined the United Church of Canada, in 2021 the curries congregation folded along with the three churches under the same name.
The sanctuary is still a sanctuary, although a home.. Guests are welcome to come in for a peek or quiet time if needed, just ask! The pews are still intact.
The graveyard on site is decomissioned with the last burial taking place in 1921. Please respect those laid to rest here.
In 1970, an F4 tornado passed through Oxford County, approximately 1 km wide, and destroyed much of the surrounding area—except this church. The roof was lost during the storm, but the original stained glass survived as well as the pews. The tornado destroyed around 30 homes, and the nearby Anglican church, which was later rebuilt. Most all grave markers were displaced into surrounding fields, and recovered pieces were returned and placed in a corner section of the graveyard. Please respect the graveyard and do not set up camp beyond the church property as there are homes and farmers fields surrounding.

This property is one acre in total that is off the grid. There is a large area with grass for camping, tenting, or RVing surrounded by wooded forest. Private drive leads to a secluded landing. There are no neighbours. Owner lives on the next concession with access to the landing via ATV trails (sorry these are off limits for hiking). Outhouse. No water. No hydro. Totally back to nature.

Rechelle was a great host! She met us on arrival. The spots by the road are great for an overnight when traveling. The spots by the beach are amazing. Wonderful views lots of birds and wildlife. I could have sat in my chair enjoying the breeze off the lake for days! Hope to get back sometime.

We had a very difficult start to our weekend camping trip and were met with people that were happy to help us out in getting our van and trailer un-stuck. We had a very nice time there otherwise. The beach is great. The overall property was pretty private no matter where you were camping. Many thanks for a great weekend.

Rechelle and her family are lovely hosts. The view over Lake Erie is splendid. We appreciated be tucked away behind cornfields and listening to the waves lull us asleep. It was comfy for the dogs too. Just a quick walk to the beach.

We visited this campsite for a quick close to home weekend camping trip, we wanted something somewhat private and close to water. We camp in a 45 foot toy hauler so access to the camping area and site can sometimes be tricky. This family property is absolutely gorgeous the ride in from the road gave you a feeling of being out in nature. The drive in from the road was a decent distance
but the roadway was hard gravel and well cleaned up to fit our toy hauler in. We were greeted at arrival and were helped into our campsite. The property is quite hilly but very safe to navigate trailers in. We arrived after multiple days of rain and the campsite remained dry due to the hard sandy base.
The beach was very private and has breath taking views from the sites and multiple areas on the property.
The son had fire wood delivered to our site before we were unloaded. The beach from our site was a very short walk. Everything is natural and well kept. I would recommend this site to anyone who is looking for nice natural site surounded by nature. The tent sites are very close to the water and by far some of the nicest views I have seen from around this area.

This was an amazing place to stay and camp. Rustic and beautiful. If you are looking for a normal campground like experience then this place might not be for you. If you want a truly authentic and well maintained spot to camp up on a cliff overlooking Lake Erie with a private beech below then this is the place for you.
