This was the best campsite I’ve stayed at! My buddies and I came down for my birthday and enjoyed everything this site had to offer. The complete isolation is amazing and the short 5 minute walk to the river was not too bad. The walk is a big sketchy but Jack did a great job at building railing. The drive down is a tight squeeze but our trucks made it with no issues. We decided to pay for Jack to come down and play the banjo for us and we could not have made a better decision! He’s the coolest guy ever and goes crazy on the banjo and guitar. Will definitely be coming back this summer!

Jack communicated very well through the whole trip!! We were looking to get away and just spend time as a family, so the seclusion was perfect. We spent a whole day on a gravel bar just down from where the canoe was, and we didn’t see a single person. It was a steep walk to the river, but Jack was very clear about that. It was well worth the hike for me, my wife, and our ten year old daughter.

River Bluff Woods
Woods, rocks, hiking and river!
Great secluded spot in Ozarks. Jack was a gracious host who met us there upon arrival and gave us the run down on this cool spot. Overall very private, however you can still hear traffic so not to far off the beaten path. It’s deep in forest off Nianga on Jacks property so it blocked a ton of wind and gave a real deep woods feel. He had wood cut ready for us, but if you camping in cold weather times, highly recommend using the wood splitter to make a lot of smaller logs. Being by the river, the air is pretty damp so smaller logs burn better, our large ones just smoldered mostly. The splitter is about the most amazing thing for this, so easy! The hike to the river is pretty rocky and steep as others have said. Walk slow and it’s no problem at all. Lots of little softball size rocks everywhere here, so watch your step and lace em up! Campsite is a great space and toilet is the best I have used for an outdoor solution, nice private little set up. Be advised, canoe is a large, 4 person, metal version, so takes a little strength to release from lock and get it in off the bank. That said, we had a great afternoon on the river and went downstream and chilled on sandbar. Two adults and three dogs were just fine in it with lots of room and stability. You may need to hop out and pull it over some shallow areas so wear water shoes or be ok with being wet. The road in is narrow, but not to bad. If it’s raining or has just rained a ton, it might be a little trouble for small cars without AWD. Any 4x4 will have zero issues, it’s pretty well maintained and taking it slow we had no slipping or sliding at all. No rain = no problem for any vehicle taking it slow. Overall, a great secluded escape only a few miles from modern conveniences if needed. Thanks for sharing your awesome forest hideaway Jack!

Hidden Gem
Jack’s spot at River Bluff Woods is a hidden gem. He provides several essentials and there is plenty of room to make the camp home while you’re there. 4x4 is a good idea for the road in and out. The trail to the river is steep but worth it if you get out in the canoe for a while. We like to paddle upstream and float back down, stopping at gravel bars to rock hunt. If you like remote, secluded camping, you’ll be very happy. Cell service is spotty so be prepared to unplug for a while.
