Dog Woods Cabin
My stay at Dogwoods cabin was absolutely lovely. It is everything I wanted and expected in a cabin and I especially loved the funky 70’s decor. The kitchen was adequately stocked with dishes, utensils and cooking ware - and the wood stove kept the cabin warm and cozy. Robin was helpful and available - I cannot recommend enough.

Overall we had a good time, but the place was not clean at all. I was ok with that, but if they charge a cleaning fee I would expect to get what we paid for. Kids, grandma and wife didnt like all the dust.

Great a-frame cabin with lots of character in a beautiful and peaceful setting! Also, the kitchen was well equipped with everything needed for cooking.
Loved sitting on the deck, listening to the creek and the birds and the breeze blowing through the trees.

Woodsy fun!
This cabin is very cozy and great for girl's weekend away. It feels like you're in the middle of the forest on the deck. It's a 5 minute drive to the lake and 10 minutes to the store. Love this cabin!

Quaint little cabin in the woods
Loved our stay at Dog Woods Cabin! Rob was super helpful and friendly host. Loved the neighborhood and the spring weather during May. Great location in relation to alpine lakes, rivers, and big trees, all within a 20 min drive either direction. The cabin itself was very comfortable and homey. Simple but nice amenities. Comfortable sleeping quarters. It’s surrounded by trees, but gets just enough light to enjoy the daytime on the deck. Definitely recommended!

Dog Woods Cabin
It was a very relaxed retreat for me and 3 teenage sons. Each of us had our own bedroom which was great, and 2 toilet rooms too, yay! Beds were super clean and comfy, kitchen had everything we needed. Arnold is a super cute town with a very good Mexican restaurant and a nice grocery store. Big Trees Staye Park just up the road and such a treat!

What a special, peaceful place. Watched the snow fall, listened to the creek, enjoyed the wood burning stove and the little music zone. It felt like “home”. Robin was communicative and gracious. Was only disappointed I couldn’t stay forever.

Truly one of a kind cabin, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Love the decor and vibe of the place, feels like a time capsule straight from the 60’s. Very cozy and nestled nicely in the woods. Super helpful and friendly host! Would love to come back!

A cool spot that satisfied all my winter snow and woodstove needs! Wish I could've stayed longer. It did take a while to heat the house up with the woodstove only though, so I'd advise to use the bedroom space heaters to help.

Relaxing and charming experience
The cabin was in a very serene and beautiful location. The interiors of the cabin were very unique. We enjoyed going through the book collection and enjoying time around the Wood-stove. Would definitely come back!

I can honestly say this is the best site I have ever booked. The cabin has the coziest and most homey feel ever- I never wanted to leave!!!! Beautiful stars at night and just everything about it was amazing. Hosts were super communicative as well.

A pleasant cabin in the woods
We had a wonderful time at this cabin. A perfect getaway and disconnect for artists like us. The neighborhood was friendly and very quiet.
The deck was the highlight as we spent most of the day and night on it taking in nature and the nighttime star gazing. Very clear.
The beds (in my opinion) were perfect! Comfortable and plenty of bedding as needed. The cabin also has a lot variety!
An all around nice cabin in the woods and Robin, the host, was very accommodating.

Very charming and well-kept place nestled between the trees and next to a lovely babbling creek, making it feel private and secluded. The wifi access was fast and reliable for working and zoom calls during our stay, and Robin was very communicative and quick to respond to any questions. We loved our stay at Dog Woods and will definitely consider it again in the future!

Private, quiet, *funky cabin
As previous Hipcampers have said, this cabin is just as it appears on the site. It’s super private and really quiet. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and bake. This isn’t a hotel or sterile AirBNB. It’s got a lot of personality and has clearly been well loved. Some of the house could have used some dusting but it felt clean. Places to visit: RED APPLE has amazing cider donuts, SERAFINA has great spaghetti and meatballs, and THE LUBE ROOM has a lovely outdoor space for burgers and beer.

This retro A-Frame cabin was a treat! Not only is it RIGHT NEXT TO A STATE PARK (seriously, Calaveras State Park is right behind it) it also has one of the most relaxing vibes ever. Decked out in retro and vintage accessories and furniture you'll be taken back to a more bitchin' time. Weather you're away with the family or on a romantic get away this cabin has everything you need to feel at home.
Among the visiting of local lakes, evening hikes and eating out on a beautiful deck we couldn't ask for more. Robin was warm, caring and a super responsive host. Highly recommended for those prone to being in a far out state of mind.

If you’re wanting to stay here in the summer and worried about the lack of A/C, don’t fret—Arnold was supposed to be 98+ degrees the mid-August weekend that we stayed but the cabin is situated in a nice shady valley by a stream. We still made use of the spacious porch all day long without getting uncomfortable.
If you’re like me and just wanted somewhere to sit and look at trees with flush toilets and comfortable beds readily at hand, this is the place for you. The cabin is surrounded by wilderness on all sides, with only 1 distant neighbor within earshot. The stream is a very pleasant feature. We slept in the cozy loft with the window open so we could listen to it flow. So relaxing!
The interior is comfortable and homey if you’re like me and love eclectic clutter, but it could also be in better shape (screen door kept coming off, labels on cabinets are peeling and hard to read, bathroom baseboards were in dire need of a deep clean). Bring Lysol wipes and spend most of your time enjoying the outdoors and you might hardly notice.

A very good deal
We were there as a party of 4, the parents and daughters 17 and 21 years. The 3 bedroom spaces were terrific. The creek below was a lovely sound to sleep and wakeup by. The living room area is a bit crowded with many chairs and a small couch occupying the space. However, it's summer and the weather is gorgeous and the deck is outstanding to "spread out". It's a rather dark space inside even with all curtains and lights on, but then again, the deck is really the savior. The house felt very comfortable, it's against the State Park so lots of privacy and very quiet. No problem with wifi, strong signal. It is a small schlepp to reach the front door from the driveway, 3 separate stairs encompassing perhaps 20 total steps, but good to know if one has mobility issues. The only improvable I'd give is this: The fridge was a bit unkept and cluttered and in my opinion, during COVID, left over jars and bottles should be discarded. All in all, for the price and location, this is a very good deal.

A great get-away for my family
Here's my take on Dogwoods Cabin. Holy remoteness. This place exceeds the definition of private. Did you have a favorite Dead Head Uncle growing up? Welcome to his cabin. No t.v., NO problem. Wifi so you can still stay connected if you need to check emails, but unplug and enjoy the surrounding stillness. I was a tad worried about the reviews of firm air mattresses in the downstairs bedrooms, but folks, there's been an upgrade and those new mattresses are super comfy. Slept like a baby. Traveling with kids and dogs? Dogwoods Cabin can handle that. Could the place use a scrub down? Sure, but you're also in a cabin in the woods. There's gonna be cobwebs and dust. Set your expectations (for reference, we are in a pandemic...Robin was clear with what her cleaning service provides. We brought lysol spray and wipes to fortify the protocol, and felt totally comfortable). Calaveras Big Trees will blow your mind, and White Pines Lake is quaint and beautiful. Most locals are wearing masks, and keeping distance. Enjoy your time, and stay safe!
