When to Go
Silver Star Provincial Park is open year-round, while the main snow season is from November through April. Hiking is possible from July to mid-September, but outside of those months, the trails may be muddy or impassable.
Know Before You Go
- Visitors need to pack in and out everything they need, including water.
- In winter, the park offers day-use warming huts and toilets.
- Vernon is the nearest town at 23 kilometres away. Silver Star Mountain Resort is just five kilometres away.
- The nearest provincial parks with campgrounds are Kekuli Bay Provincial Park and Ellison Provincial Park.
Silver Star Provincial Park
This park is best for winter Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling but doesn’t offer camping.
The 6,092-hectare Silver Star Provincial Park surrounds (but doesn’t include) Silver Star Mountain Resort, a winter hot spot. The park is home to the Sovereign Lake Nordic Club and has over 50 kilometres of easy, intermediate, and advanced ski trails, as well as snowshoeing and snowmobile trails. In summer, the same trails double as hiking routes. With no camping options, the park is only open to day-use visitors. Silver Star Provincial Park is the traditional territory of the Syilx Okanagan Nation and the Splatsin First Nation.
