Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Safety Cove adventure.
Discover the serene beauty of Safety Cove State Marine Park. Â
There are a number of state marine parks near Seward, and Safety Cove is one of âem. Reaching the park requires a 28-mile boat ride from town, but itâs hard to turn down 960 acres of pristine marine environment. It's one of the many "can't miss" parts of Alaska—thereâs a three acre freshwater lake right above a gravel storm berm, and if youâve been hankerinâ for some beach camping, this is your spot. Recreation boats can even safely anchor here, and once you're docked, try to peel yourself away from the enigmatic shoreline and venture around upland. The reward? Fantastic views of Ellsworth Glacier.
The ideal time to visit Safety Cove State Marine Park is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and the waters are calm. Winter can bring harsh conditions, making some activities less accessible.
