Tres Caballos
2 sites · Lodging7 acres · Las Cruces, NMLocals consider this property one of the best secrets of the valley. The main house is an old adobe built sometime in the '30s, added on to over the years. Joe Augustine raised his family as well as race horses here and it is often referred as the old Augustine place. Things I love about this place; a landscape in every direction, all the mountains that create the Mesilla Valley are visible, the way the light changes, the sound of the train, how quiet and peaceful it is, watching the crops grow and change, the very dark nights. It is an amazingly healing space to be, it kinda sucks the hustle right out of you allowing space for expansion.  Come be still and listen. Access to the river and mountains is easy, day trips abound, and town is close enough but not too close. Ask me about an Artist Retreat beginner or masterclasses availableLearn more about this land:Welcome to dark star filled nights and birdsong days. This is your Gateway to all that southern new Mexico has to offer and it's a lot! Your Casita is a very well appointed two bedroom two bathroom, full kitchen, dining area and living room. All with a retro/boho feel, mid century modern meets vintage finds. The vistas are always enchanting and can be enjoyed from either of the covered porches, or out by the stock tank pond, you will have a front row seat to the Dona Ana and Organ Mountains, and probably a couple of exotic horses grazing in the pasture, just because! We have Parks, Monuments, public lands all for the hikers, foodies will delight in the many restaurants, food trucks, brew pubs and distilleries. Arts and culture abound also with a variety of museums, art galleries, theater and fiestas. And yet the farm feels remote, a slice of solitude, it is the perfect gateway to the world and the perfect place to come home to.

Behr Art
2 sites · Lodging2 acres · NMI am a working artist of many mediums; ceramics, copper, painting, collage, et al and proprietor of Behr Art Gallery & Gifts. Alongside this work, I  design spaces and events,  host workshops, markets, annual festivals, officiate weddings, and make my ever-morphing property available for others to share and enjoy. To that, I've spent nearly every day designing, decorating, reconstructing, reconfiguring and reworking this historic property, farm and gardens. The structures I've built and designed that are available for your retreat include the CABIN, the LOTUS, the  POND HUT and the TREE HOUSE.The Cabin  was  once a bunkhouse. The previous owners moved it (rolled it on logs) to its present location.  In doing so, the floor joists needed to be reattached and a foundation was constructed to stabilize the building. My brother and I cut, fitted, mudded, tied, nailed, plumbed, electrified  and created a marvelous space.  This is otherwise a working art studio,  organic farm and orchard, with ponds, shade trees, peace, quiet and some of the darkest skies for star gazing in the nation. My backstory:A Connecticut native, I moved to Silver City/Pinos Altos New Mexico in 1970 and then  to Glenwood in 1982. For twenty-two of those years, I lived on a ranch with a herd of horses and two donkeys, and my passion was endurance riding. After thousands of training hours, competitive miles, and sponsoring the Scorpion Sting Endurance Ride, I  gave it up for the life I now live on this land.

Harry and Barbara’s Windmill
3 sites · Lodging, Tents20 acres · Mc Neal, AZWe purchased our 20 acre homestead 12 years ago. It had 100 year old windmill and we named the property ‘Windmill’. All structures were abandoned and unlivable at that time , the land had been overgrazed for decades. The saving grace was the water well, which produces sweet ,clear abundant 75 degree water so we new it was thermal spring water. Since buying the property we concentrated on restoring the land first ,bringing it back to its native beauty. Year round vegetable garden, honeybees, orchard and small vineyard followed suit. The adobe home and outbuildings and Sandhill (Crane) casita are restored with all recycle materials from the property. The 1.5 mile nature trail through grassland yucca mesquite landscape provides solitude and 360 degree views Sand over 150 mile view shed of the sky islands in US and Mexico. Along with our four children, this property is the joy of our lives.Learn more about this land:Flat, well maintained, Paved road accesses our 20 acre private wildlife sanctuary. High Country Hip Camp
8 sites · RVs, Tents5 acres · Magdalena, NMWe live on a 5 acre mini ranch right in the Village of Magdalena. Our property looks remote because we are on the edge of the village overlooking the hills and mountains of village land, however we are just a hop skip jump away from the local bar, cafe, gas station, etc. This property is best suited for RVs, car camping, vans, etc. Tent camping is available, but beware of winds. We offer very limited access to amenities, but with some notice we can help with with water hook ups, garbage disposal. We have an extra bathroom in the house available for guests to use for toilet and showers, but require arrangements, as we have dogs and will need to unlock house as needed. Folks are welcome to start a fire at the fire pit and say hello to our animals. We have a donkey named Dolly, a goat named Jake, and mini horse named Amber. We also have 2 horses on site named Cowgirl and Chiquita. Check out our second property on HipCamp, Tumbleweeds Diner!

3:10 to Dragoon
2 sites · Lodging, RVs1 acre · Dragoon, AZDragoon is rich in history and natural beauty. The name comes from the 3rd U.S. Calvary Dragoons who battled the Chiricahua Apaches here led by Chief Cochise during the Apache Wars. Nearby, you can visit the confederate graves and ruins of the Dragoon Springs Stage Station. About 20 minutes away is Cochise Stronghold, home and burial place of Chief Cochise and Chiricahua Nat'l Monument is about an hour away (great hiking and climbing!). Unique to this area are the amazing rock formations of pillars, balances, and stacked rocks caused by cooled volcanic granite 50 million years ago.  In addition, our area is home to hundreds of different bird species, the occasional Gila monster, coyotes, deer, and javalina.
