We live in our eco-friendly straw bale house on the property, and the forest behind can welcome you. We've prepared a flat space for setting up a tent in the heart of the forest with a view of the lake; you'll be very secluded! Access to an outdoor compost toilet is available at all times. We were the first guests to try out this new site, and we really enjoyed our stay! The site is spacious, with a lovely view of the forest and a very convenient location close to the bathrooms without feeling too close. The composting toilets were always kept very clean, with no unpleasant smell, and plenty of hand sanitizer was provided. It’s also just a short walk to the shore. Even though this particular site isn’t directly on the water, we really appreciated having easy access to the common waterfront area, whether to get out on the water or simply relax in one of the Adirondack chairs or hammocks available for everyone to enjoy. Brian is an exceptional host—genuinely kind, attentive, and always making sure we had what we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. A beautiful, peaceful place to camp, and we’d happily come back!

Beautiful camp and experience. I was a bit sceptical about the experience but the camp proved me wrong in all ways. The place is well maintained and has a lot to offer. The journey through the lakes were amazing with different flora. It was worth the experience and hidden gem. Kudos to matthew and his son for such hospitality and giving a good experience for campers.

Matthew was super kind on showing us the spot and leading us where to park. Absolutely a beautiful little campsite right next to a stream. There’s a short 5 min walk from the car. We ended up choosing this spot because mont tremblant park was full, and I’m thinking this was probably even better.

We had a wonderful time portaging and tent camping at Matthew’s property! The Hermitage site is really special, we had nearly private access to the second lake and tons of beautiful nature. The tent site is located in a convenient and uniquely beautiful space. Matthew was a fantastic host, very friendly and professional, and the other guests on the property were also super friendly and respectful. We will definitely be back soon!

He ensures you get familiar with the surroundings and proposes multiple activities around , including extensive historical facts. So, you’re in good hands, either in person or a phone call away. A good base for kayakers wishing to explore the Ottawa river up to Montebello, including la Rivière Rouge entrance.

I loved camping in the trailer with my girlfriend for the last couple of days. The short walk down to the water was amazing, and we really enjoyed being able to have campfires right beside the water. It was also very generous of them to let us use their paddleboard; we had a great time exploring the river. I would definitely recommend this camping spot!

Excellent séjour au Rock Face Guesthouse. Les aménagements extérieurs sont encore plus beaux que sur les photos. Mathew est vraiment très sympathique et aidant. Si vous cherchez quelque chose hors des sentiers battus et en pleine nature, c’est l’endroit. Bonus si vous y allez fin août: peu/pas de bibittes!

I loved the cosy and cute camper! My daugther, my dog and I, had a great time here. We only stayed for a night (and a rainy one !) And we said to ourselves that we would really want to come back and stay longer. The place was easy to find and fits well the descriptions given. (Best to copy all important infos in phone because there was no or very low cellular reception.) The site is quiet and peaceful. Even if we see a few houses around, it seemed very private. The access to the river is so inviting and lovely. I loved the beatiful wooden crafts everywhere. A very charming place!

Weekend Trip to River Rest

We loved our time here at River Rest 🏕️ Its a beautiful site! The vintage camper looked even better in person - it was cozy, clean and comfortable. The potable water was sufficient and the dry toilet was easy and clean to use. The propane stove worked well for cooking 🍳 . There is a tiny fridge inside (not super cold) which can work for keeping food cool with cold-gel ice packs. And the river access is very private too, although its across the road, we had no issues getting down there even in the night time! Mel was super accommodating and friendly to talk to ☺️ We enjoyed paddleboarding in the river 🏄‍♀️ and also had dinner by the water at sunset 🌅 I think this place has incredible value and we definitely will carry some unforgettable memories from our stay here! ✅
