Like most folks who’ve been bitten by the water ski bug, I dreamed of having my own lake and when I met my life partner Harald, an elite slalom skier, my search began in earnest. By a combination of good timing and good luck, I was able to make that dream come true and in the spring of 2014 I acquired this land with the hopes of building my dream water ski lake on it. 7 years later, we have a thriving water ski club and are constantly making improvements to the site. We now have decided to add some sites for rent to share this incredible property with others outside the water ski community. Site #1 is a small cabin that sleeps 3 and site #2 is a small houseboat that has been converted to a bunkie. Onsite activities include use of a canoe and paddleboard. HISTORIC MONUMENTS The "Hole in the Wall" bridge was built in 1905 and is also known as the Canal Lake Concrete Arch Bridge. It was designed by the federal Department of Railways and Canals. It is located on Centennial Park Road on the southwest side of the Trent Severn Waterway bridge, northeast of Bolsover. The bridge was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1988. FISHING Canal Lake is a medium size lake with a large diversity of fishing spots. The type of person you are and your expectations of what should be…determines how you accept your stay anywhere you go!!! I can ABSOLUTELY say that my stay with my son at Tara’s piece of heaven on earth…known to most as…land…was wayyyy more than what I hoped for!!! There was so much going on around us…and you know what…we didn’t even notice a thing going on…unless we wanted to notice something going on! Plain n Simple!!! We were on a FAMILY owned PARADISE…with amazing people all around…no matter which way you poke a stick at it! Peter…you’re a great man and just from our talks…I want you to know that I will forever be at your beck and call…WHEREVER and WHENEVER you need ANY sort of help! Will most definitely be returning and for at least a month buddy!!!

Weekend Trip to Ranger on Rice!
Had a great stay! Peaceful, rejuvenating simple days. Pros: + The RV is well furnished and comfortable. Sink, flush toilet, full fridge and even microwave! + Close to the lake, great if you have a boat. + Good fishing, little weedy but a good time. + Everything was clean. + Everyone was very friendly and accommodating! Cons: - The space is quite open and not very private if you're hoping for a "camping" feeling experience. - The trees are by the lake so there isn't any shade or shelter. I'd recommend bringing a canopy or beach tent. - The RV is older and not completely bug proof, our swatter got plenty of use. Overall quite pleased and highly recommend staying here. Consider the RV a significant upgrade to a tent, get out on the lake if you can, you'll have a great time!

The view is absolutely stunning --sitting by the water in the morning or evening is pure joy. 🌅✨ The houseboat itself is very clean, cozy, and thoughtfully arranged. It has everything you need: fridge, freezer, stove,light, dishes, and A/C. A frying pan and at least one blanket would be nice additions, but overall, the space is well-equipped. The outside area is just as lovely — quiet, private, and ideal for enjoying coffee or relaxing by the fire🥰 The sofa looks so nice, but unfortunately, it’s very uncomfortable for sleeping--even though we brought extra mattress Overall, this place has a special charm. Great views, privacy, and thoughtful touches --we will definitely come back again! 💛

Beautiful structure near the creek. Big ol raft in the water with a ZIIIIPPLLLLIIIINNNEE that was much enjoyed Twinkly lights on trail leading to the igloo No wood provided, dishes were dirty from previous folks, BBQ didn’t work Beautiful pond!

Lovely place! Definitely worth the price. Beautiful views of the lake, fields, and farm. Fishing and swimming was so fun. The trailer and matress was very comfortable. They have fans in the trailer, but If you open the windows, there is a lovely cross breeze. There is a microwave for convenience and a fridge. They also provide a BBQ outside. I did bring my Coleman stove too. I could have easily stayed there for longer, wish I did! The owners were so friendly and accommodating. Everything was amazing!!! I would DEFINITELY go again!

We had a lovely time in the Igloo. The location is beautiful and the water was clean and swimmable. The zip line and the slide were pretty fun too. We oiled have loved if the toilet was not beside the bed, it doesn’t smell lovely while in bed. Nonetheless we had a lovely time. Cleaning guy crept up on us before 11 am check out and scared the bejesus out of us. Maybe coming after 11 am would be a nice touch. The sound of the river while sleeping was a plus ! Bring a fan if you are visiting in the summer it is hot. The sauna is lovely and close to the water so you can plunge when it’s hot;)

We stayed over the August long weekend and had a great time! We’re usually tent campers, so having a trailer to stay in felt like a real upgrade. The trailer is older and a little rough around the edges, and the water out front is weedy—but that’s pretty typical for Rice Lake. That said, we brought our kayaks and spent a couple of relaxing days on the water. The shallow entry was perfect for lounging in beach chairs, with nice sandy footing underfoot. Peter and his wife were wonderful hosts—welcoming, helpful, and always close by if we needed anything. One of our favourite moments was watching the sunset over the barn and farmer’s field in the distance. Absolutely beautiful. If you’re expecting a luxury cottage, this might not be for you—but if you’re after a peaceful and private spot that feels like a step up from camping, this place is a gem. Come with the right expectations, and you’ll leave relaxed and happy.

1 night at T's Pond
T's Pond was the perfect place for us to stop on our trip to Niagara Falls! We enjoyed our time there and had fun swimming and watching a few skiiers on the lake. I did what a few other Hipcampers recommended and put our sleeping pad for tent camping on the pull-out couch. It was super comfortable that way. The only concerns I had was that the fridge and toaster oven weren't cleaned out from previous Hipcampers. Also, make sure any food you put in the fridge is in sealed containers! Everything I had in sealed containers was fine, but anything outside of sealed containers ended up with a really weird taste and had to be thrown out. Overall I would say it was a good experience and I'd be happy to go back :)

Weekend Trip to T's Pond
We really enjoyed our time at the little houseboat. The site is really private and had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting by the fire, using the BBQ, the paddleboard and generally just chilling out by the water. The houseboat itself is lovely and cozy. Teresa is an excellent host and was available to answer and questions we had. Overall it's a great way to spend some time by the water and get out of the city. Would highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Uxbridge Igloo
We had an amazing time at the Uxbridge igloo this summer. Our favourite part was the personal "lake" on the property that was perfect for swimming and cooling off after a hot day. They had a full BBQ and blackstone for cooking. The sauna looked cool but we never used it. Igloo itself is very nice, definition of glamping. Only issues were that the igloo gets really hot in the summer, bring a fan or two cause the A/C doesn't work. There also wasn't any utensils for cooking but they had everything else - working toilet, toiletries, blankets, pillows, towels, etc. We will definitely be back soon!!
