Take an evening walk to the top of the hill to catch a beautiful farm sunset over the corn fields. Local businesses nearby are Brooks Farm Playground and Market 2 min up the road. Rose Family Farm with fresh cut fries 4 min away. Musselman's Lake is a 6 min drive to enjoy the fabulous Fishbone on the Lake, casual outdoor dining. In nearby Stouffville find Timber Creek Mini Golf, Gallucci Winery, Willow Springs Winery + Tree top trekking at Bruce's Mill. The Shack is equipped with some cooking items, pots + pans, BBQ and utensils, knives, cutlery, plates, coffee cups, bowls, glasses + (wine glasses) cutting board, tray, kettle and a small chest cooler to keep your food and drinks cold (you will need to bring the ice) Dish washing rack is provided, as well as large jugs of clean potable water for cooking/drinking and doing the dishes. The Stonefield Gazebos has 3 luxurious units on a beautiful 100 + acre piece of heaven. Our original Lakeside Gazebo is steps from our private lake with its own dock. The White Oaks Gazebo is in our old white oak forest and The Cedars is in our Cedar forest beside a stream and river. Each of these 3 luxurious units are not in close proximity to each other. We designed it this way in order to give our guests the utmost privacy. Each gazebo has its own chic and private outhouse with shower area. All gazebos have beautiful beds with comfy and ultra soft bedding. They are equip with everything you should need from plates, cutlery, BBQ utensils, tea kettle, coffee french press, wine glasses, cups etc. There is a propane BBQ with a side burner ready to cook your meals. There is a dock where you will find the canoes, a kayak, paddles and life jackets. If you paddle out to the middle of the lake you will find a raft with 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella on it. Bring some drinks and snacks, because once there, you will not want to leave. Our curious loons will no doubt swim up close to say hello. Enjoy!! PLEASE NOTE: This retreat does not have electricity. However, a small, silent portable power station is available in each accommodation for guests who wish to charge their phones, laptops and small electrical devices. ***This property is an animal-free zone due to SEVERE allergies. Please don't ask if you can bring your dog, cat etc, or try to sneak them in. This applies to service animals as well unfortunately. Just because different terms are used to describe the same thing, a dog is a dog etc, whether it is your pet or a service animal. Although we do sympathize with people who require service animals, my severe allergies do not know the difference and I do not want to die. Our property is exempt from domestic animals entering the grounds, we ask that you please respect this. We also have deer and other creatures that live around the gazebos. The scent of a dog or other animal would scare them off, fundamentally changing the nature of the experience and impacting it for other guests. This is a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with nature and yourselves, disconnect from the grid and stresses of everyday life. It's a pretty special place and a one of a kind experience. Historical Significance of the property When we first saw the property we were awestruck by its beauty and allure. We were captured by the natural springs, river and stream. It wasn't until after the deal closed that we found out that we also had a lake. What an incredible surprise and gift. It also wasn't until much later that we learned about the historical significance of this special place. It turns out that our property is part of the Percy Portage, which was an important route used for centuries by the Hurons, Iroquois and Mississaugas. It also formed the basis of the first road in the region in the early 19th century for settlers an those heading north. Samuel de Champlain used this portage in September 1615 when he travelled south with his Huron and Algonquin allies on their way to upstate New York. In the 1970's, a group of students from Trent University retraced and marked the route by adding orange metal markers to some of the trees along the way. Some of them are still present today.

Weekend Trip to Forest Time Retreat

Excellent place:quiet,safe. 11 km. from Campbellford. We stayed there already second time,although we prefer do not visit same places twice. Nice place to spend few days together far from civilization. Hosts Michaelene and Paul are very helpful. At the camp you can have all necessary stuff: kitchenware, woods etc.

We absolutely loved how peaceful it was at the Cabin. We sat in the sun and just listened to the birds and wind through the trees - such a large space it was great for the dog and for lawn games. The host provides everything you need and more - the VHS and classic movies came in clutch on a rainy day. Its deep enough in the wooded areas to enjoy this serene environment, and the town with walking trails, lazy river and everything else you need is just a short drive away. Yes! The stars are big and beautiful - perfect place to bring a telescope if you have one!

1 night at The Taiga Animal Sanctuary

I had such a beautiful experience at the Taiga Animal Sanctuary. The whole place felt incredibly peaceful, and being surrounded by such friendly, well-cared-for animals made it even more special. We arrived much earlier than the check-in time of 3 PM, and Jenny was so kind and welcoming—she graciously allowed us to check in early, which we truly appreciated. Her warmth really set the tone for our visit. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable experience, and I left with such lovely memories. I would definitely recommend this sanctuary to friends and anyone looking for a calm, unique getaway.

My wife and I have been winter camping many times and this was our favorite cabin rental ever! It has been a great getaway and adventure for us and our dogs. We arrived with alot of snow and were planning to hike. Thanks to the hosts as they have snowshoes available at the cabin! We had a blast in the trails. The cabin's stove was perfect, kept it cozy and warm throughout the weekend. The well water with a hand pump was an added surprise and let me tell you how good that water is! We were both talking about it all weekend. Hosts were amazing, had fire going for when we arrived, took us to the cabin and after that it was just us. Perfect 10/10 for us as this is exactly how we like to camp. Will be back for sure.

A very cozy stay for a quick nature getaway from Toronto, the cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay, and was easy to find and access. Nice and warm even on a very cold night. We didn’t explore the property but it’s very close to lots and lots of hiking trails. Would stay again!

We had a really nice two-night stay at this forest cabin on a sibling trip. Anna and family were super kind and made sure we had everything we needed. The cabin was cozy and quiet, and we really enjoyed the ambiance of the woodstove. We also spent time snowshoeing and enjoyed a fire at the outdoor fire pit, which made the stay even better. Overall, it was a relaxing getaway and a great place to unplug and enjoy nature.
